Feed America With George Clooney's Bowl

A host of your favorite actors and musicians have autographed bowls for a new charity auction to raise money for the hungry.

The Fill A Bowl, Feed America campaign is being run in conjunction with Clothes Off Our Back, the celebrity charity auction site founded by Bradley Whitford and Jane Kaczmarek.

Now is your chance to eat from quality bowls signed by stars such as George Clooney, Mariah Carey, Taylor Swift, David Arquette, Courteney Cox, Matt Damon, Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, Adam Sandler, Rascal Flatts, Paris Hilton, Sacha Baron Cohen, Maroon 5, Wyclef Jean, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Annie Lennox, Ben Harper, Josh Groban, Jordin Sparks, Carlos Santana, Sarah McLachlan, Richie Sambora, and many more.

All of the proceeds from the auction – which runs until December 12 – will go to Feeding America. The auction can be accessed here. And remember – it only takes $1 to provide 16 meals for a child.

Singers Make Paper Dolls For Charity Auction

Some of the biggest country stars on the planet have decorated paper dolls in an exciting new charity initiative.

Carrie Underwood, Alan Jackson Trace Adkins, Tim McGraw, Dierks Bentley, Clint Black, Tracy Byrd, LeAnn Rimes, Willie Nelson, Jewel, Wynonna, Rascal Flatts, Faith Hill, Keith Urban, and Reba McEntire – as well as Kid Rock, Kelly Clarkson, Jessica Simpson and Jordin Sparks – are among the 50 singers who have put pen to paper and let their artistic skills out of the closet to design paper dolls, which will benefit Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.

Through Project Paper Doll, the Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt “reminds us that tomorrow can be a better day – every day – when we all work together to combine inspiration, innovation and knowledge to Make Something Happen.”

Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital is a leading provider of healthcare for children, serving Middle Tennessee and beyond. The 222 bed facility includes a variety of family accommodations and is also a teaching facility, as well as home to internationally recognized research. This year, more than 154,000 children were seen in their clinics, over 43,000 children seen in the Emergency Department and nearly 13,000 admissions to the hospital.

The paper dolls will be auctioned on eBay from November 28 to December 17.

Fans of country music might want to head over to eBay to see their current “Grammy Charities Auction”.

Items up for offer include guitars signed by Miley Ray Cyrus, Dwight Yoakam, John Foggerty, and Jerry Lee Lewis, CDs signed by Taylor Swift and George Strait, and clothing donated by Rascal Flatts and Trace Adkins.

And if you’re not into country music, there’s a selection of items up for offer that might interest you too, including lots from John Legend, Alice Cooper, Billy Bob Thornton, Joss Stone, and Dave Matthews.

Money from the auction will go to MusiCares, which works to help those in need in the music industry, and the Grammy Foundation, which works with industries, cultural communities and the public to raise awareness of music and arts education.

Rascal Flatts Donates Millions to Children’s Hospital

Country music band Rascal Flatts will receive the 7th Annual Academy of Country Music/Home Depot Humanitarian Award this month for their donation of over $2 million to the Monro Carell Jr Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, the largest fundraising donation in the hospital’s history.

The award, which recognizes “country music artists who serve others, have a generous spirit and help build the dreams of those in need,” will be presented to group members Jay DeMarcus, Gary LeVox and Joe Don Rooney at the 43rd Academy of Country Music Awards on May 18.

The group’s donation to the research hospital, one of the top 10 pediatric cancer care centers in the US, came from the proceeds of their concerts.

“We have been blessed with some incredible successes in our career the past couple of years,” said Rooney. “The most rewarding thing for us is the opportunity to give back to our communities.”

In addition to the award, Home Depot volunteers and community members will build a playground in a city of Rascal Flatt’s choice, another stepping stone in Home Depot’s mission for “a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America.”

Rascal Flatts Include Red Cross In New Music Video

It has been a big year for Red Cross disaster relief workers in North America, with thousands of people affected by the February tornadoes that ripped through the southern states and severe flooding in the Midwest. And as a way of raising awareness of the work the organization does, a prominent and popular country music band has featured their relief services in a new music video.

Every Day, the latest song from Rascal Flatts’ Still Feels Good album, makes its debut this week, and the video depicts a variety of situations where Red Cross provide emergency assistance to those in need.

“It gives us great pleasure to be able to work with a wonderful organization like the American Red Cross, because of the humanitarian service it provides to this country and around the world.” said Gary LeVox, lead singer of the band.

Rascal Flatts, who recently scooped an accolade for one of their videos at the CMT Country Music Awards, have been members of the Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet since 2004, and have previously taped Public Service Announcements to encourage people to support the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

The band will also receive the 2008 Academy of Country Music Humanitarian Award on May 18 in Las Vegas.

“We’re grateful to the members of Rascal Flatts for highlighting the lifesaving work of our “everyday heroes” – the volunteers and staff who carry out our humanitarian mission,” said Joe Becker, Red Cross Senior Vice President for Disaster Services. “Their compassion and gracious donations of time and talent will go a long way to help those in need.”

Red Cross Announces The 2008 Celebrity Cabinet

The American Red Cross unveiled their 7th annual National Celebrity Cabinet yesterday, February 28, with 15 new members from movies, sports, and television.

Skateboard legend Tony Hawk will join former Beverly Hills 90210 and Dancing With The Stars alum Jennie Garth, Heroes’ Masi Oka, Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley, House M.D.’s Lisa Edelstein and Kal Penn, Ugly Betty’s Ana Ortiz, Grey’s Anatomy’s Sara Ramirez, Scrubs’ Judy Reyes, Everyone Loves Raymond’s Patricia Heaton, Hairspray’s Brittany Snow, two-time NASCAR champion Greg Biffle, New York Yankee Robinson Cano, NFL star Matt Leinart, and Life Coach Iyanla Vazant in the 2008 Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet, part of a mobilizing force to urge people to perform extraordinary life-saving acts in dire circumstances through the assistance of the Red Cross.

“I am extremely honored to participate in the Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet, especially at a time when we have the ability to do so much for people around the world who have endured such tragedies,” said new member Jennie Garth. “The Red Cross brings help and hope to those in need and has done tremendous good for so many different people on a global level. I believe this is a time when we can educate others and the Red Cross allows for the opportunity for each individual to contribute to the effort. I am grateful that I am able be part of this amazing organization.”

The 47 members of the 2008 National Celebrity Cabinet will be “on-call” to donate their time, skills, passion, and energy to help the Red Cross highlight their important initiatives and response efforts. It will be chaired once again by Sherry Lansing, former CEO of Paramount Pictures and member of the Red Cross Board of Govenors.

“This is my sixth year serving as chair for the Celebrity Cabinet,” she said. “It’s an honor to be a part of such a meaningful cause with such talented people.”

The Red Cross has benefited from the involvement of public figures and celebrities since World War I, and over the years actors and artists have played an important role in raising public awareness of Red Cross services nationwide. Cabinet members pledge their support for a one year term, although many members of the current National Celebrity Cabinet, including Heidi Klum and Leeza Gibbons, have been involved for over five years.

“The Red Cross is a volunteer driven organization that provides humanitarian help to those in need,” said Klum. “It is an honor for me to participate in their celebrity cabinet and encourage all individuals to become involved with their local Red Cross.”

Members of the 2008 National Celebrity Cabinet will be involved in one of the country’s largest volunteer networks and will promote awareness of Red Cross services by participating in public service advertisements, as well as donating their time, money and blood, aiding in disaster relief, and lending a helping hand to those in need. Returning members include Jackie Chan, Sara Evans (who recently organized an auction as part of her involvement), Jamie Lee Curtis, Patti LaBelle, Jimmy Smits, Marlee Matlin, Nancy O’Dell, Jane Seymour, Peyton Manning, Jimmie Johnson, Rascal Flatts, Julianne Moore, George Foreman, Marcia Gay Harden, Elisabeth Rohm, Eli Manning, Daddy Yankee, Chayanne, Aisha Tyler, Pierce Brosnan, Amy Grant, Miley Ray Cyrus, Kristen Bell, Pat Green, Dwayne Johnson (AKA The Rock), Dr. Phil McGraw, Raven Symone, Niki Taylor, Burney Lamar, and Bradley Whitford.

The American Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet was developed in 2002 as part of the Entertainment Outreach Program.
