George Lopez To Host Celebrity Charity Golf Classic

Host George Lopez will be joined by celebrity golfers for his fourth annual Celebrity Golf Classic benefiting The Lopez Foundation at the Riviera Country Club, 1250 Capri Drive, Pacific Palisades on Monday, May 2.

Celebrity guests teeing off at the event include Aimee Garcia, Andy Garcia, Anthony Anderson, Benjamin Bratt, Billy Bush, Cedric the Entertainer, Cheech Marin, Dave Annable, Don Cheadle, Jack Wagner, Jimmy Jam, Joe Mantegna, Kenny G, Kevin Dobson, Kevin Nealon, Matt Lanter, Michael Bearden, Michael Clarke Duncan, Michael Pena, Michelle Rodriguez, Omarosa, Ray Romano, Sugar Ray Leonard, Tony Dovolani, William Devane, Joe Regalbuto and many others.

The Fourth Annual George Lopez Celebrity Golf Classic and 2011 Audi quattro Cup will benefit The Lopez Foundation. The tournament format is “Two Man Modified Best Ball” of fivesomes with full handicap. The Charity’s mission is to create positive, permanent change for underprivileged children and adults confronting challenges in education and health, as well as increasing community awareness about kidney disease and organ donation.

Heroes star Jimmy Jean-Louis will lead a charity motorbike ride in LA for charity on Saturday, February 27.

The actor will ride a motorbike for the very first time alongside Brian McKnight, James Kyson-Lee (“Heroes”), Gilles Marini (“Dancing with the Stars”), Lou Pizarro & Operation Repo Team, Olden Polynice (Former LA Clipper), Jaime Gomez (“Nash Bridges, Training Day”), Omarosa (“The Apprentice”) and many others at the event to raise money for Haiti.

Members of the public can also join in, and a “Haiti-themed” Suzuki GSXR 1000 valued at $40,000 will be auctioned.

16 million people tuned into the first episode of Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice on January 3, a show in which celebrities work to win money for the charity of their choice. Critics may argue it is a publicity stunt to boost ratings, but when $250,000 is at stake to go to a good cause, all is fair in ratings and charity.

The show marks the 7th series of reality television show The Apprentice, and features a return to the original format of a male team versus a female team. The men’s team named themselves Hydra, and the women have chosen the name Empresario.

Every week, the money earned on a project goes to the team leader’s charity. In the first episode, actor Stephen Baldwin headed the winning team, and the breast cancer charity named for his mother – the Carol M. Baldwin Cancer Research Fund – was the first charity to reap the benefits of male star power. Baldwin proudly presented a check in excess on $69,000 to the charity. His celebrity teammates include KISS bass player Gene Simmons, Heavyweight Boxing Champion Lennox Lewis, country singer Trace Adkins, America/Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan, Ultimate Fighting Champion Tito Ortiz, and Sopranos star Vincent Pastore.
