On Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 6:00 p.m., colorful and original signed works of art, or “doodles,” created by actors, artists, politicians, and sports icons will be auctioned off at “Doodle For Hunger XII,” the annual charity auction hosted by St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters, which feed and shelter over nine thousand underprivileged families in New York each week.

This special event, hosted by Fox 5’s Ernie Anastos, will include a cocktail party, Doodle preview, silent and live auctions led by acting great Tony Lo Bianco. The event will take place at Pier Sixty Chelsea Piers.

Two months ago, Japan experienced a massive 9.0 earthquake and the devastating tsunami that followed. In response to this tragedy, actor Ken Watanabe launched www.uniteforjapan.org to rally people to donate funds for Japan’s relief effort through key organizations like the American Red Cross, Japan Society & Global Giving.

Sting To Join James Taylor At Charity Concert

James Taylor will play a special charity concert at Carnegie Hall next month, joined by a host of celebrity friends.

The show on April 12 will celebrate Carnegie Hall’s 120th birthday and will raise money for the venue’s artistic and educational programs. Musical guests will include Sting, Bette Midler and Steve Martin.

John Travolta has donated US$10,000 to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund while attending the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Nelson Mandela established the organization to develop partnerships and programs which empower and improve the well-being of children and youth, and promote the rights of children and youth through the influence of public policy and social awareness.

Harrison Ford Flies To Haiti For Charity

Harrison Ford is the latest star to put his pilot skills to work for Haiti.

Following John Travolta and Ludacris’ mercy missions to fly supplies to the country following the earthquake on January 12, Ford has now used his own Cessna to fly in volunteers and and medical supplies for Operation Smile.

“This is not about me, it is just about doing what I can to help Operation Smile and the people of Haiti,” said the Indiana Jones star.

Many celebrities are asking fans to join them in giving support to earthquake devastated Haiti – actor John Travolta has also climbed on board, literally. Last week he flew his own jetliner with relief supplies into Port-au-Prince’s beleaguered airport.

According to Associated Press, Travolta’s jet carried six tons of ready-to-eat rations and medical supplies, as well as some doctors.

“We have the ability to actually help make a difference in the situation in Haiti,” Travolta told AP, “and I just can’t see not using this plane to help.”

According to its official website, the Jett Travolta Foundation will “endeavor to use its resources specifically to assist and provide relief to children with vision, hearing, mobility, communication, behavior learning impairments or other special medical, environmental, health or educational needs. It may also use its resources, and make grants to educate the public about the need for a clean environment, provide relief and assistance to children who are victims of natural or man-made disasters, and to fund children’s educational programs.”

16-year-old Jett died in January after suffering a seizure while on a family vacation in the Bahamas.

A collection of over 50 original signed lip prints from some of the biggest names in film will be auctioned in April in support of the charity Medicinema.

Amongst the stars who have donated a Healed With A Kiss lip print are Keira Knightley, Ewan McGregor, Kate Winslet, John Travolta, Shirley MacLaine, Jeff Goldblum, Madonna, Jeremy Irons, Sigourney Weaver, Dame Helen Mirren, Liam Neeson and Glenn Close.

John Travolta and Kelly Preston made a special announcement when they attended a charity premiere of the new animated film Bolt in their hometown of Ocala, Florida, on Friday night.

The charity premiere raised $55,000 for the local Boys & Girls Club of Marion County, a figure that got cheers from the crowds that turned out to catch a glimpse of their favorite stars. However, Travolta had a bigger surprise in store.

The annual Carousel of Hope Gala will take place this weekend to raise money for the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes.

Presented by Jay Leno, the gala will take place at the Beverly Hilton on Saturday, October 25, and will honor Denzel Washington for his charity work.

Nancy Cartwright – also known as the voice of Bart Simpson – is to host the 3rd annual Monte Carlo Poker Night to raise money for at-risk children.

The tournament – which takes place this Saturday, September 20, at Cartwright’s home in Los Angeles – will feature appearances by Brad Garrett, John Travolta, Camryn Manheim, Sinbad, Tom Kenny, Mickey Dolenz, and Kirstie Alley. Oprah Winfrey To Auction Cars For South African Girls’ Academy

An auction of three cars from Oprah Winfrey’s personal collection will benefit the annual Arts and Culture Workshop at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls – South Africa.

Talk show host, media mogul, and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey will auction the three cars – a 1954 Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing formerly owned by the DuPont family, a 1988 Rolls Royce Corniche II Convertible given to her by John Travolta, and a 1997 Aston Martin DB7 Volante – at Pebble Beach, California, from August 16-17, 2008. Renowned auctioneers Gooding and Company will facilitate the event. Catalogues are available for $100, including auction viewing and admission for two, and general admission is $40 per person. The vehicles will be on display August 13-17.

The three automobiles are expected to fetch a combined total of $700,000-$1 million, with 100% of the proceeds going to the annual Arts and Culture Workshop held at Winfrey’s academy. Winfrey has already donated $40 million towards the establishment of the school, which was founded in January 2007 and is located in a suburb outside Johannesburg.
