The rapper flew to Dolow in Somalia’s southern border region on Wednesday. Dolow is where thousands of women and children fleeing from drought and conflict have taken refuge.
Meet 50 Cent And John Legend For Charity

Leading online charity auction site Charitybuzz.com has teamed up with hip-hop and R&B superstars 50 Cent and John Legend to raise funds for New York Restoration Project and Happy Hearts Fund by giving a few lucky fans the chance to get up-close and personal!

50 Cent has been busy doing good lately, between penning a children’s anti-bullying book and feeding hungry African children with proceeds from his energy drink, and his latest project, the launch of his new record label, is no exception; 50 Cent has partnered with charitybuzz to help make New York City neighborhoods greener, and is offering 2 fans the chance to meet him at his G-Note record label launch. The winning bidder and a guest will hit up a swanky, New York City hotel where the launch party will be held, and party with Curtis like it’s their birthday! Bidding is open through Tuesday, November 22 here, with proceeds going to the New York Restoration Project.

John Legend will be in the Concrete Jungle as well, laying down some brand new tracks, and he is inviting a pair of fans down to the studio to watch him work the mic! The winning bidder and a friend will go to a NYC recording studio, where they will feel like anything but ordinary people as they see Legend belt out his best. Bidding is open through Tuesday, November 15 here. Proceeds go to the Happy Hearts Fund, a non-profit charitable organization founded by Petra Nemcova after her survival of the 2004 tsunami, with a mission to aid children around the world who suffer hardship as a result of natural, economic, and health related disasters.

50 Cent Supports World Food Day

In honor of United Nations World Food Day, 50 Cent is challenging the world to help provide one million meals for hungry children in just one week.

From Monday, October 17 to Sunday, October 23, every time someone “Likes” Jackson’s new Street King energy shots on Facebook he will provide a meal to a child in need. In addition, Jackson will match the donation and provide a million more meals if the Like count reaches 1 million within the week.

“People who want to help fight hunger are not being asked to donate or pay anything to help. It’s real simple. All they have to do is Like the Street King page on Facebook and I will give a meal to a hungry kid,” said Jackson.

Russell Simmons Supports 50 Cent's Plan To Feed Africa

Russell Simmons has shown his support for 50 Cent following the rapper’s charity wish to help Africa on Twitter.

“I want to impact people’s lives more. I created a new goal for myself, I want to feed 1 billion people in Africa over the next 5 years,” tweeted 50 Cent earlier this week.

Hip-hop mogul Simmons was quick to back his friend up: “It is always inspiring to see people who come from ‘hell’ who want to create heaven,” he told GlobalGrind.com. "Like Malcolm X and many others who have come from struggle, it is the journey out of darkness to become advocates of light that is the most impressive.

50 Cent To Tackle Bullying With New Novel

50 Cent will publish a novel tackling the issue of bullying in schools next year.

The novel – titled Playground – will be the rapper’s third book.

“I had a strong desire to write Playground because I wanted to explore how a kid becomes a bully. I drew on events from my own childhood and adolescence, but was excited to see the story take on its own life. This book would have been very helpful for me growing up and now that I have a teenage son, it is my goal that this will have a positive influence on all teenagers.”

Rapper 50 Cent has been approached by African charity eBlockwatch to adopt an endangered black rhinoceros.

The organization helps communities in Southern Africa fight crime, including poaching, and hopes 50 Cent’s involvement would help raise awareness of the animal’s plight – 227 protected animals have been slaughtered by poachers so far this year.

“We want to ask him if he wants to become the godfather of our rhino so that he can create awareness worldwide about rhino poaching,” eBlockwatch’s Andre Snyman told South Africa’s Sunday Times.

TLC Reform For Justin Timberlake Charity Concert

Justin Timberlake wrapped his annual charity golf tournament with a dazzling concert on Saturday night that featured Taylor Swift, Snoop Dogg, Ciara, Alicia Keys and a reformed TLC.

The concert – held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and benefiting Shriners Hospitals for Children – marks the second year that Timberlake has gathered his friends for a charity performance. Last year’s show featured the Jonas Brothers, Rihanna, will.i.am, Maroon 5, 50 Cent, Boyz II Men, Esmee Denters, and Leona Lewis.

“There were a lot of acts this year that weren’t able to get here till today, so there weren’t as many collabs as I had in my brain,” Timberlake told MTV News during rehearsals. “But I think that’s always the case, it’s kind of like [when] you do an album and you write, like, 40 songs, and then 12 of them make it. … But still, just having everyone out and getting to see them do their set — there are a couple of things that have never been performed onstage. There’s a new song from [Timbaland] tonight, from his record that we did together. I think Snoop’s doing a new song from his new record. So it’s kinda cool for them too, because it’s like perfect test marketing.”

50 Cent Takes Kids to 6 Flags

Rapper 50 Cent spent the weekend bringing joy to kids from his native Queens neighborhood, despite New York authorities refusing him permission to play a secret show.

Though his secret concert plans fell through due to safety concerns, the rap artist continued with his plans for Family Day, arranging for hundreds of local kids to be bussed the Six Flags Great Adventure theme park in New Jersey on Saturday, and held a picnic event back in the borough of Queens on Sunday.

“I am constantly searching for ways to give back to the community that helped create me and contributed to my success,” said 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson. “I can think of no better way to do this than to help improve the lives of the young people that reside there through programs created by my foundation.”

Bette Midler And 50 Cent Together For Charity

The devine Bette Midler is joining with 50 Cent and Dolly Parton to host her annual Spring Picnic to benefit the New York Restoration Project.

The event will take place at Fort Tryon Park, New York City, on May 19, and will include a BBQ and entertainment.

Midler founded the New York Restoration Project in 1995 to improve the natural balance of life in the city. The organization is based on the belief that clean, green neighborhoods are fundamental to the quality of life, and that every community in New York City deserves an oasis of natural beauty. Seeing many parks and open spaces in dire need of clean-up and restoration, Midler created NYRP to be the “conservancy of forgotten places,” particularly in New York City’s underserved communities.

Stars To Be BRAVE For Veterans

Hip Hop stars 50 Cent and Ludacris will perform at a concert to raise awareness of veterans causes next month.

“A Night for Vets: An MTV Concert for the BRAVE” is part of MTV’s Choose or Lose campaign, an initiative designed to engage, inform and empower young voters on the political issues that matter to them most. The concert hopes to draw attention to a new petition launched by MTV called the Bill of Rights for American Veterans (or BRAVE) which calls on politicians to support vets’ issues and enact positive legislative changes.

“It doesn’t matter where you stand on the war — we can all agree that young veterans serving our country must receive the benefits they’ve earned for their sacrifices,” said MTV President Van Toffler. “By raising awareness through ‘A Night for Vets: An MTV Concert for the BRAVE,’ and by launching the BRAVE petition, we aim to elevate these issues and ensure they’re a top priority for our government officials.”

Justin Timberlake Tees Off For Children

Justin Timberlake is currently bringing sexy back to golf as he hits the green in the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Golf Open in Las Vegas this week.

Tee-off in the event was on Wednesday, when the star was joined by Ellen DeGeneres and a host of golfing celebrities in the tournament to raise cash for Shriners Hospitals for Children, a network of facilities in North America that provides superior medical care at no charge to children under the age of 18.

“We will make sure to make this event unique and memorable, and we will raise money for charity while participating in the greatest game ever played,” he said. “I thank the PGA Tour and the Shriners Hospitals for Children for this amazing opportunity. Raising money to better children’s lives while playing golf? I can’t think of a better way to pass the time.”

Stars Get Behind A Big Problem

Lolita is a 42-year-old living in Miami. Originally from Puget Sound near Washington, Lolita was forcibly taken from her home in 1970 – when she was only six years old – and forced to perform for people who would pay money to watch her. Thirty-seven years later, Lolita is still living in cramped conditions.

Lolita is 22 feet long and weighs 7,500 pounds. She loves being wet, but lives in a tank only 80 feet wide and 20 feet deep at the Miami Seaquarium… a far cry from the wide-open spaces of her home.

Lolita is an Orca – also known as a killer whale – and the campaign to send her home has just hit an all time high, with a long list of celebrity supporters adding their names to a proposal to retire the aging mammal to her home.

Bid Now For Christmas Gifts

The countdown to Christmas has begun, and celebrities are doing their best to make holiday shopping easy this year. Several charity auctions have already kicked off to raise money for good causes, including one that may be eBay’s largest sale of celebrity items… ever!

The BID 2 BEAT AIDS online auction will open on December 1, World AIDS Day, and will feature over 1000 specially signed items, ranging from posters to iPods. The annual auction will raise money for LIFEbeat, the music industry’s AIDS fundraising and service charity, and in the past has raised up to $175,000.

The array of memorabilia up for sale this year is simply colossal, with perhaps the most interesting items being a series of “Lend a Hand to LIFEbeat” cards that feature the handprints of over 100 celebrities. Stars such as Britney Spears, Jack Black, and Kathy Griffin traced around the outlines of their hands and decorated their artworks for the auction, and the finished products will make a unique addition to any Christmas stocking.
