Two iconic forces that have impacted the past 50 years – the life-saving human rights activism of Nobel Peace Prize-winning Amnesty International and the incomparable artistry of Bob Dylan – are being saluted by 80 musicians who contributed new or previously unreleased recordings to Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International.

The collection is scheduled for physical (4 discs) and digital release in North America on January 24, 2012 through Fontana Distribution. It will be distributed internationally through Fontana International, a Universal Music company, on January 30.

Chimes of Freedom features a stellar and diverse group of artists across the generational and musical spectrum. Cyndi Lauper played a show in Westbury, NY, on Wednesday, and asked fans to support a very special charity initiative.

Prior to the show, Cyndi requested that concertgoers brought food to benefit rock CAN roll, an organization that collaborates with rock concerts, schools, corporations, and private individuals to collect healthy & nutritious non-perishable food for distribution to local agencies and into the hands of children, seniors and families who live with hunger and in poverty.

“Food banks around the country are reporting difficulties in getting food donated and keeping up with the demand due to the current state of our economy,” she wrote on her website prior to the show. "So, they need our help and it is really simple for us to do something.

Train And Maroon 5 Donate Concert Proceeds To State Fair Remembrance Fund

The Indiana State Fair today announced that the Train and Maroon 5 concert on Thursday, August 18 has been relocated to Conseco Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis. The show was originally scheduled to take place at the Hoosier Lottery Grandstand at the Indiana State Fair.

All previously purchased Train and Maroon 5 tickets for the show at the Indiana State Fair will be honored at Conseco Fieldhouse on the night of the show.

The Artists, Indiana State Fair and Conseco Fieldhouse will all donate the entire proceeds from the concert to the Indiana State Fair Remembrance Fund. Five people died and more than 40 others were injured when scaffolding and a lighting rig crashed down on Saturday.

Stars Donate Items To Celebrity Charity Auction To Help Joplin

A number of stars – including Johnny Depp, Yoko Ono, Patricia Arquette, Bono, Jeff Probst, Justin Timberlake, Eminem and Jack Johnson – have donated items to a great auction raising money for the people of Joplin, the Missouri town where an estimated 30% of the buildings were destroyed and over 150 people were killed by a tornado on May 22.

Items going under the hammer include an book about U2 signed by Bono, a script signed by the cast of General Hospital, a rare Lady Gaga Born This Way picture disc, posters signed by Ry Cooder and Martina McBride, a basket ball signed by the Lakers, a guitar signed by Foreigner, the chance to meet Coldplay, Maroon 5 and Uncle Cracker, the chance to Skype with OneRepublic and much more. Sean Lennon has donated a signed guitar, while Yoko Ono has signed a photo of her with John Lennon.

Proceeds from the auction will go to United Way of Southwest Missouri and Southeast Kansas. Last week, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt donated $500,000 to the people of Joplin in the wake of the tornado.

A host of stars are expected to attend UCLA’s Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center’s 16th annual Taste for a Cure event this week.

The event will be held at the Beverly Wilshire on Friday, April 15, with a guest list that includes Michael C. Hall, Laura Linney, Matthew Morrision, Julianne Hough, Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet and honoree David Nevins (Showtime Networks President of Entertainment).

Nevins is a founding parent of the Larchmont Charter School, a socioeconomically diverse K-8 school based in Hollywood. The Rock Nation Monster Showcase at The Highlands, 6801 Hollywood Blvd, will benefit Shred Kids Cancer, a charity established by 10-year-old Teegan Stedman after a friend was diagnosed with cancer.

“Shred Kids’ Cancer is a charity that lets kids try and do something for these other kids who are suffering,” says Teegan. “Its a way to make the kids who have cancer know that we are here for them and show them we care and give them strength.”
