Don Felder To Bring An Evening At The Hotel California To Celebrity Charity Golf Event

Former Eagles guitarist Don Felder will headline a special concert celebrating the 11th annual BMW Celebrity Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament next month.

The guitar legend will join over 20 celebrities teeing off in the tournament from May 19-22 in South Carolina, including Lucas Black, Mark Bryan, Oliver Hudson, Josh Kelley, Greg Kinnear, Cheech Marin, Terry O’Quinn, Michael Pena, Joe Pesci, Jerry Rice, Rascal Flatts’ Joe Don Rooney, Kevin Sorbo, Gary Valentine, Patrick Warburton, Luke Wilson, Jeffrey Donovan and many more.

“This year’s line up of celebrities is as good top to bottom as we’ve ever had,” said Tournament Director Darin MacDonald. “Many of the fan favorites are returning, and we’ve got some exciting first-timers. The corporate sponsors and spectators are in for a treat.”

Luke Wilson To Host Charity Golf For LAPD Memorial Foundation

Luke Wilson will host the annual charity golf tournament to benefit the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation in July.

Celebrities who have participated in past tournaments include Wayne Gretzky, Samuel L. Jackson, Eddie Van Halen, Chad Everett, James Woods, Joe Pesci, Kelsey Grammer, Dennis Franz, Jack Nicholson, Chris O’Donnell, Neal McDonough and Mark Wahlberg.

Each year since 1970, the Memorial Foundation hosts the Los Angeles Police-Celebrity Golf Tournament. During the tournament, corporate sponsors are paired with celebrities and officers for a fun filled day of golf, great food, awards and camaraderie in a festive open house atmosphere that includes thirty Department displays and is attended by 5,000-8,000 spectators. Each year, over thirty celebrities from the sports, television and movie industry participate in the Los Angeles Police-Celebrity Golf Tournament.

Celebrities Sign Up For Hack n' Smack Against Cancer

Joe Mantegna, Joe Pesci and John Schneider are just three of the celebrities lined up to play in the 7th Annual Hack n’ Smack Celebrity Golf Tournament.

The tournament, benefiting the Melanoma Research Foundation, has been named one of the top 10 Celebrity Golf Tournaments in Southern California. It takes place on April 19th, and is in memory of actor Kerry Daveline.

“Every hour of every day, someone dies of melanoma in the U.S. Melanoma strikes people of all ages, races, and economic levels. One in 75 Americans will develop melanoma during their lifetime. It is the fastest rising cancer in the U.S. and the most deadly. It is also the most highly preventable, and treatable, if caught early. Currently, melanoma research receives less than 10% of the funding given to basic research of other cancers, which is why we created this event and why we give 100% of the proceeds to the cause” said Kevin E. Actor Joe Pesci and former NFL players Sterling Sharpe and Kordell Stewart have joined the line-up of celebrities for the 2008 BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament on May 15, while actors Samuel L. Jackson, David James Elliott, Kevin Sorbo, and Lucas Black have withdrawn.

“We are very excited to have Joe Pesci and Kordell Stewart joining the field for the first time and to have Sterling Sharpe return,” said Darin MacDonald, tournament director of the BMW Charity Pro-Am. “It is unfortunate to hear about Samuel L. Jackson, David James Elliott, Kevin Sorbo and Lucas Black, but we understand. They had committed to play, but apparently the shooting schedules of their new movies have changed. We understand that their work takes precedence, and we wish them all well with these productions.”

The celebrities now scheduled to compete in this year’s BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament are Joe Pesci, Dennis Quaid, Luke Wilson, Greg Kinnear, Kurt Russell, Catherine Bell, Wayne Gretzky, Janet Jones-Gretzky, Ty Gretzky, Dave Coulier, Stefanie Schaeffer, Patrick Warburton, Oliver Hudson, Michael Pena, Sterling Sharpe, Kordell Stewart, Jason Dohring, Josh Kelley, Cheech Marin, Javier Colon, Steve Azar, Gary Valentine, Mark Rypien, Branford Marsalis, Pat Green, George Rogers, Ben Wright, and Jennifer Mills. Winnings from the tournament will go to the winner’s charity of choice.

Joe Mantegna Tees Off For Special Needs

This summer Joe Mantegna will hold his eighth Celebrity Golf Classic tournament benefiting Home Ownership Made Easy (H.O.M.E.), an organization that provides housing for the disabled in California.

As the father of a special-needs child, Mantegna understands the anxieties and the barriers for disabled adults in finding self-sufficiency.

“What these individuals face is a lifetime of worry and uncertainty as to what the quality of their lives will be,” said the 60-year-old Tony Award-winning actor. “The lifelong concern of safe and affordable housing for those whose specific disabilities puts them out of reach of housing opportunities the rest of us have is a daunting one.”
