Celebrities Release CD For The Troops

Operation Homefront, the non-profit that provides emergency financial and other assistance to military families and Wounded Warriors, has announced that with this month’s release of “CD for the Troops V,” the series of albums will have been provided to 1 million service members, veterans, and military families.

This fifth album includes songs from 11 artists, including Five For Fighting’s John Ondrasik, to show their support for all service members and their families. Operation Homefront is a co-producer of the series.

“John Ondrasik’s love for our military families and devotion to the welfare of our men and women in uniform comes through again in this fifth album,” said Amy Palmer, Chief Operating Officer for Operation Homefront. “All of the talented artists who have lent their voices to ‘CD for the Troops V’ have shown their support for our military in an incredible way.”

REO Speedwagon To Play Charity Concert

BillingTree RockBlock returns to Phoenix Sat., Nov. 5, 5:30 pm, bringing a high energy lineup of classic rock favorites REO Speedwagon, the voice of BOSTON Fran Cosmo and Rossmore, who are led by a powerhouse of movie moguls including Bill Fay whose credits range from Independence Day to the Hangover movies.

CityScape, downtown Phoenix, Central Avenue from Washington to Jefferson takes over as the new venue for this annual charity rock festival, presented by Phoenix-based BillingTree, The Arizona Republic, 12 News and azcentral.com to kick-off the “Season For Sharing” campaign. R Entertainment is again producing this high profile community event. Plus, fans will get satisfaction knowing 100% of ALL ticket monies (the entire $20 or $100 ticket amount) goes to local Valley charities through the “Season For Sharing” annual fund raising drive.

Legends Sign Guitars For Charity Auction

A huge selection of guitars signed by rock legends both old and new will go under the hammer next weekend to aid in the fight against child cancer.

Stars Guitars is a family friendly gala that will feature a concert by REO Speedwagon, exciting live and silent auctions featuring guitars signed by popular musicians and a gourmet strolling dinner. Proceeds from this high-energy evening support the Charles A. Main, M.D. Pediatric Cancer Survivor Scholarship Fund of Beaumont Hospitals. In addition to college scholarships, health grants will also be awarded to Beaumont Hospitals’ Late Effects Clinic for Survivors of Childhood Cancer.

Jewel And Friends Donate Song Lyrics To Charity Auction

Singer/songwriter Jewel has joined with a huge group of other musicians in donating handwritten lyrics to a new charity auction.

The 34-year-old has donated signed lyrics to some of her most well known songs – including Foolish Games, You Were Meant For Me, Hands, and Who Will Save Your Soul – to raise money for Project Clean Water, a charity she established in 1998 to improve the quality of life for millions of people by helping to provide clean water on a global scale.

The singer has been joined by some of her celebrity friends for the auction, with handwritten lyrics also being donated by the Pussycat Dolls, Trace Adkins, Katy Perry, Garth Brooks, Josh Groban, REO Speedwagon, David Foster, John Rich, Five For Fighting’s John Ondrasik, Carrie Underwood, Randy Travis, John Mellencamp, Jason Mraz, Gretchen Wilson and many more.

It's A Big Night In On Thursday

The seasons may be changing, but there are still enough reasons to cuddle up on the couch in front of the television this week, especially on Thursday when two game shows see celebrities competing for charity. So grab a blanket, a cat, and a loved one, slip into some slippers, pour a drink, and put your feet up for a night on the couch.

The big attraction is NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice, which comes to a conclusion this week, with the last two contestants battling it out for good causes and glory. Country singer Trace Adkins will go head-to-head with British media personality Piers Morgan for the finale, with Donald Trump awarding $250,000 to the winner’s chosen charity.

Adkins will perform his new single, You’re Gonna Miss This, during the show, and the song will be available on iTunes immediately after the program is aired. Proceeds from the song will go to FAAN (the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network), which is also the singer’s chosen charity for the show.
