The Pick a Powder campaign that began during the summer of 2010 with a friendly rivalry between Adkins, spokesman for BC Powder and Petty, spokesman for Goody’s Powder, is launching the “Like, Share, Change the World” campaign.

Flight 93 National Memorial
Bill Clinton will join George W. Bush, Laura Bush and Sarah McLachlan at the September 10 dedication ceremony of the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m. The memorial service will take place at the newly-opened memorial plaza surrounding the site where Flight 93 crashed at 10:03 a.m. on September 11, 2001. President Obama is expected to visit the Flight 93 National Memorial later that day.

Trace Adkins' Daughter Awarded For Animal Rescue

Country singer Trace Adkins is feeling very proud of his 9-year-old daughter, who is to be awarded a special honor by PETA.

On June 4, Brianna Adkins was home with her two sisters and their nanny when a faulty power strip caused their Brentwood home to catch fire. Everyone fled to safety—and that’s when Brianna realized that the family’s two young dogs were still inside. Accompanied by a neighbor who realized that Brianna couldn’t be deterred, the 9-year-old immediately headed back into the house to retrieve the dogs. The pair successfully retrieved the puppies from the burning home, and for her brave actions, Brianna will receive PETA’s Compassionate Action Award.

“Thanks to the heroic actions of Brianna Adkins, her family’s beloved dogs survived the fire and are alive and well,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “Her heroism is a compelling reminder that all members of the family—including dogs, cats, and other animals—deserve help in an emergency.”

In the wake of a devastating fire that destroyed his own home, country star Trace Adkins is urging fans to donate to the Red Cross to help those who he says are in more need – the survivors of floods and tornadoes that caused hundreds of deaths and millions of dollars worth of damage in the US over recent months.

“I have been blessed,” he says. "My kids are OK, my wife is OK. I have my guitar and my songs. Everything else can be replaced.

“Unfortunately, there are families out there who need help if they’re to rebuild after these recent storms. The American Red Cross was one of the first on the scene to help my family and, through their work, others will receive the assistance they need to get back on their feet.”

Toby Keith To Perform For Charity At Country Music Awards

Country singer Toby Keith will perform for charity at this weekend’s Academy of Country Music Awards.

The singer will perform a special song he wrote for a friend – singer and NBA star Wayman Tisdale – he lost to cancer. The performance of "Cryin’ For Me (Wayman’s Song) will be available on iTunes, with proceeds going to Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C).

“Wayman was an amazing guy,” said Keith. “In the song there’s a line that says ‘he showed us how to live and now he showed me how to die.’ Both of those were true. He didn’t frown on people for how they live, he led by example. He showed you how you’re supposed to live and he died with so much dignity. On September 25 and 26, Wounded Warrior Project’s (WWP) Soldier Ride will visit Nashville, Tennessee. Soldier Ride, which debuted in 2004, is Wounded Warrior Project’s rehabilitative cycling program for wounded warriors.

Trace Adkins To Perform For Wounded Warriors

Country singer Trace Adkins is planning a special performance in honor of wounded U.S. troops at the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards show in April.

Trace Adkins To Visit Troops In The Gulf

Country singer Trace Adkins is planning to visit and perform for U.S. troops stationed in the Persian Gulf.

The 46-year-old – who was awarded with the United Service Organization’s Service Medal in 2007 – will perform for troops as part of a tour sponsored by the Armed Forces Entertainment, which marks his first trip back to the Persian Gulf since 2002.

“I’m really humbled by the opportunity to spend more time with our nation’s finest,” said the singer, who has charted more than 25 hit songs on Billboard’s country music charts and released seven studio albums. “This is such an honor for me to be able to visit with our military and tell them how much we truly appreciate all the sacrifices they make for our country and our freedom.”

Donald Trump’s first season of Celebrity Apprentice helped many worthy causes. Stephen Baldwin won more than once for his charity of choice named for his mother, the Carol M. Baldwin Cancer Research Fund. However, the final two on Thursday night’s finale were the tenacious Brit Piers Morgan versus the American cowboy Trace Adkins in the quest to become the first Celebrity Apprentice to win $250,00 for their cause.

Morgan is recognized in the US as a judge on America’s Got Talent and known in the UK for Britain’s Got Talent, in addition to his work as a tabloid editor. The tough as nails competitor won nine out of eleven competitions and raised over $500,000 for his designated charity, the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. Trump helped Morgan add to his total to the tune of $250,00 as he was dubbed the Celebrity Apprentice winner. Critics say that he played dirty. Morgan states that he played the game to win money for his cause.

The seasons may be changing, but there are still enough reasons to cuddle up on the couch in front of the television this week, especially on Thursday when two game shows see celebrities competing for charity. The big attraction is NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice, which comes to a conclusion this week, with the last two contestants battling it out for good causes and glory. Country singer Trace Adkins will go head-to-head with British media personality Piers Morgan for the finale, with Donald Trump awarding $250,000 to the winner’s chosen charity.

Adkins will perform his new single, You’re Gonna Miss This, during the show, and the song will be available on iTunes immediately after the program is aired. Proceeds from the song will go to FAAN (the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network), which is also the singer’s chosen charity for the show.

16 million people tuned into the first episode of Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice on January 3, a show in which celebrities work to win money for the charity of their choice. Critics may argue it is a publicity stunt to boost ratings, but when $250,000 is at stake to go to a good cause, all is fair in ratings and charity.

The show marks the 7th series of reality television show The Apprentice, and features a return to the original format of a male team versus a female team. The men’s team named themselves Hydra, and the women have chosen the name Empresario.

Every week, the money earned on a project goes to the team leader’s charity. In the first episode, actor Stephen Baldwin headed the winning team, and the breast cancer charity named for his mother – the Carol M. Baldwin Cancer Research Fund – was the first charity to reap the benefits of male star power. Baldwin proudly presented a check in excess on $69,000 to the charity. His celebrity teammates include KISS bass player Gene Simmons, Heavyweight Boxing Champion Lennox Lewis, country singer Trace Adkins, America/Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan, Ultimate Fighting Champion Tito Ortiz, and Sopranos star Vincent Pastore.
