The Grammy Foundation will host One Night Only: A Celebration Of The Live Music Experience — the 14th Annual Grammy Foundation Music Preservation Project — featuring live musical performances and historical footage from preservation archives.

Television personality and entrepreneur Sharon Osbourne and Grammy-winning guitarist Steve Vai will be the evening’s co-hosts, and rock icon and philanthropist Bret Michaels will perform as the closing act.

Additional performers include Grammy winners Robert Cray, Jonny Lang, Shelby Lynne, and Mavis Staples; current Grammy nominees Dave Koz and Ledisi; and the Colburn Orchestra, A Fine Frenzy, winner of the Queen Extravaganza contest Marc Martel, finalist on season one of NBC’s “The Voice” Beverly McClellan, and Tyrese. The evening’s musical director will be Darrell Brown, songwriter/producer, Recording Academy Trustee, and Grammy Foundation Board member. Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy and the Grammy Foundation, will be in attendance, along with other prominent music industry leaders and members of The Recording Academy.

Bret Michaels Donates Music Room To Hospital

Rock star and former patient at St. Joseph’s Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix Bret Michaels has announced plans for the donation of the Bret Michael’s Hospitality and Music Room inside the hospital.

“I want to give something back to the hospital that helped save my life,” said Michaels. “Phoenix is my home and I’m proud to be a part of this community.”

In April 2010, Michaels was rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center suffering from a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening type of stroke that causes bleeding in the fluid-filled spaces around the base of the brain. St. Joseph’s is the home of Barrow Neurological Institute and Michaels was treated by Barrow neurosurgeons.

Cyndi Lauper played a show in Westbury, NY, on Wednesday, and asked fans to support a very special charity initiative.

Prior to the show, Cyndi requested that concertgoers brought food to benefit rock CAN roll, an organization that collaborates with rock concerts, schools, corporations, and private individuals to collect healthy & nutritious non-perishable food for distribution to local agencies and into the hands of children, seniors and families who live with hunger and in poverty.

“Food banks around the country are reporting difficulties in getting food donated and keeping up with the demand due to the current state of our economy,” she wrote on her website prior to the show. "So, they need our help and it is really simple for us to do something.

Muhammad Ali’s annual celebrity charity Fight Night is to return to Arizona this month.

Celebrity Fight Night XVII will be hosted by Grammy Award-winning superstar of country music Reba McEntire, who is returning for her sixth time as emcee. The black tie event will begin with cocktails and a silent auction with dinner, an exciting live auction and entertainment to follow. On January 24th, Poison frontman Bret Michaels went in to surgery to repair a hole in his heart, while his fans got busy showing him some love.

During the time Bret was in surgery, there was a huge influx of donations to one of his favorite charities, the American Diabetes Association, leading him to release a statement through his rep.

“Bret would like to send out a big thank you to all those who donated to the ADA,” his rep told Hollywood Life. “He is extremely appreciative of this incredible support.”

For over twenty five years, Dwight Maddox has created incredible custom made guitars for members of Blind Melon, L7, FREEKBASS, R.L. Burnside, Zac Brown Band, Train and 3 Doors Down just to name a few.

He is now starting a new project with Ray Scheuring, Bret Michaels’ bass player. Each guitar is made from raw cut wood, hand picked by Dwight, and crafted with precision. He consults with each artist about what they want their guitar to look like, and pays attention to every detail requested. Several artists have commented on how their guitar is more than just a guitar, it’s a piece of art.

Dwight Maddox is a man of many talents. Not only has he been making exquisite handmade custom guitars, he has embarked upon something that could help thousands of youths get food, shelter, and medical attention. Dwight is taking the scrap wood from each of the guitars he creates to make one of a kind hand made ink pens. Each pen set that is made comes with a certificate signed by Dwight, and the artist he’s made the guitar for. Each item sold will benefit the Better Life Foundation.

On July 19, the Hollywood Palladium was filled with more stars in one place than a usual Monday evening should for the 2010 Do Something Awards hosted by VH1 on the blue – not red, but blue – carpet.

Before the event kicked off, Melanie Stevenson from DoSomething.org streamed live and greeted celebrities, creating a Twitter craze. Tweets tagged as #DSawards were displayed across the stage on the electronic banner and questions for host Jane Lynch to answer were welcomed.

Host Jane Lynch, aka Sue Sylvester, delivered as many witty one-liners as her Glee character loves to partake in. The hilarious opening, which can be viewed on VH1 here, shows Lynch with her long list of good things to do, ending with a bang as Sue Sylvester look-alikes flooded the Palladium.
