Darius Rucker To Perform At Charity Concert

Country music performer and former Hootie and the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker will headline a charity concert on Sunday, May 13, 2012 as an exciting finale to the inaugural ANNIKA & Friends at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.

The concert will be held at 7 p.m. on the North Park lawn at the beautiful Grand Boulevard at Sandestin. General admission tickets will go on sale through the event website, www.AnnikaandFriends.com, on Thursday, Dec.1 at 10 a.m. EST.

Darius Rucker, lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish, is now topping the county music charts as a solo artist. His 2008 release, Learn To Live album produced three consecutive # 1 singles and Top 5 smash, “History In The Making.” Rucker’s success in the country music format was recognized at the 43rd Annual CMA Awards when he received the Top New Artist title and again with ACM, Teen Choice, and AMA Award nominations. Rucker is currently riding high with the release of his sophomore country album, Charleston, SC 1966 which has produced two # 1’s “Come Back Song” and “This” a well as the current single, “I Got Nothin’.” Rucker just announced that he will be joining Grammy award winning trio Lady Antebellum on the second leg of the Own The Night 2012 World Tour, which will kick off in Tulsa, Okla. in late January and will run through June 2012.

Darius Rucker To Perform With Young Disabled Songwriters

A group of 25 disabled young adults will join former Hootie and the Blowfish singer Darius Rucker on stage at the ACM Country Music Awards this Sunday to perform a song that they wrote.

The song – Music From The Heart – was written last summer by the 25 youngsters and ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp songwriters Brett James and Chris Young. The special moment will be performed during the 46th ACM Awards, to be broadcast live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Sunday, April 3rd, 2011 on the CBS Television Network.

James has created a new arrangement of the song, customized for this never-before-seen performance. Young, along with Music Camp friend, country singer and star of the upcoming remake of the classical movie musical Footloose, Julianne Hough, will introduce Rucker and the 2011 Lifting Lives Music Camp moment to viewers.

“Together, Anything’s Possible,” the song that country music star and former Hootie and the Blowfish front man Darius Rucker has written specifically to support the PGA TOUR’s charitable initiative by the same name, has been released on the radio throughout the country following strong initial interest on iTunes.

Through a unique partnership between the PGA TOUR, Capitol Records Nashville, McGhee Entertainment and iTunes, all net proceeds of the song downloads for one year are being donated to PGA TOUR Charities, Inc. In turn, 100 percent of these funds will be used to directly support various PGA TOUR charities, including The First Tee, a World Golf Foundation initiative dedicated to impacting the lives of young people through the game of golf.

The PGA TOUR and Capitol Records Nashville have announced that country music sensation, avid golfer, former Hootie and the Blowfish singer and philanthropist Darius Rucker is teaming up with the TOUR on a new entertainment platform in 2011 to raise funds for PGA TOUR charities through music.

As part of the PGA TOUR’s first-ever entertainment-and-sports partnership of this kind, Rucker has written and produced a custom song for the TOUR’s “Together, anything’s possible” charity initiative that will be made available for download starting in early January. All proceeds of the song downloads for one year will be donated to PGA TOUR Charities, Inc., a non-profit organization. In turn, 100 percent of these funds will be used to directly support various PGA TOUR charities, including The First Tee, a World Golf Foundation initiative dedicated to impacting the lives of young people through the game of golf.

Bill Murray To Host Annual Caddyshack Charity Golf Tournament

On March 25 and 26, the Murray Bros are hosting the 10th Annual Murray Bros. Caddyshack Charity Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held at World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida, where the Murray Bros. Caddyshack restaurant is located.

Outside of the golf tournament, dinners and lunches will be served on both days. A silent auction will be held on Friday along with the pairings draw party. On Saturday, after the tournament has ended, an awards party will be held where Bill Murray and various others will entertain on stage throughout the night.

Celebrities that have attended in the past include: Darius Rucker, Melissa Joan Hart, Kevin Sorbo, Bruce McGill, Scott Phillips, Chris Myers, Sterling Sharpe, Kyle Petty and John Daly.

Hootie and the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker will host a celebrity charity golf tournament in April.

The 16th Hootie and the Blowfish Monday After The Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament will take place at North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on April 12. Scheduled to appear at the event with all the members of Hootie and the Blowfish are Samuel L. Jackson, Kyle Petty, Boomer Esiason and many others from the worlds of sport and entertainment.

The event will benefit the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation, which was established in 2000 to create an endowment that benefits children of South Carolina through education and supports school music programs nationwide.

REM To Be Honored With Charity Tribute Show

Rocker Patti Smith is to headline a tribute concert for R.E.M. next week.

The concert – which features 20 artists and bands performing the songs of the biggest band to ever come out of Athens, Georgia – will take place at Carnegie Hall on Wednesday, March 11, and will include Throwing Muses, Darius Rucker from Hootie and the Blowfish and many others.

Recording artists Hootie and the Blowfish, Colbie Caillat, Josh Kelley and John Krueger are scheduled to perform for the annual Rock Fore! Dough IV benefit concert. The event will take place on Tuesday, April 8th in Augusta, GA at the First Tee of Augusta.

The proceeds of the Rock Fore! Dough support the First Tee of Augusta, one of over 200 chapters of the First Tee Network. Over the past three years the Rock Fore! Dough event has raised over $200,000 for the charity.

First Tee’s goal is to “…impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.”
