Stars Go Quackers Over Charity Auction

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and to mark the occasion, Munchkin Inc – designer and manufacturer of infant and toddler products – has announced it will auction celebrity-decorated pink bath duckies on eBay as part of its 3rd Annual Project Pink campaign.

Celebrities such as as Julianne Moore, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, Cindy Crawford, Tori Spelling, Bob Saget, Steven Weber, Jaclyn Smith, Sela Ward, Marissa Jaret Winokur and many more have donated hand-decorated and autographed limited edition pink ducks to the auction, which can be accessed through eBay. Each celebrity duck will be auctioned for a one-week period in the month of October and all auction proceeds will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

“I love Munchkin’s Project Pink,” said Winokur. “These really cute pink bath duckies will help remind women to schedule routine breast exams, while also raising money to support research for a cure. And that’s something to quack about!”

In addition to the auction of celebrity-decorated ducks, consumers are also encouraged to purchase their own limited edition Project Pink Bath Duck via the Project Pink website or at select retailers nationwide for $2.99. One hundred percent of the net profits from the sale of these ducks will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Celebrity Moms Style Their Baby Strollers

Celebrity moms Ashlee Simpson, Tori Spelling, Angie Harmon and Marissa Jaret Winokur are designing one-of-a-kind Maclaren strollers for the Celebrity Mom “Style My Stroller” Campaign to benefit the CJ Foundation for SIDS.

The CJ Foundation is the leading organization in the US dedicated to raising awareness, funding research and offering support services to families impacted by Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The online auction will be held from October 6 to October 13, 2008, to coincide with SIDS Awareness Month. Bidding will take place at www.charityfolks.com beginning at 10am EST on October 6 and closing at 9:30pm on October 13. These one-of-a-kind strollers will be on special display at Babies“R”Us in New York City’s Union Square.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have these amazing celebrity moms on board to help CJ with our mission of increasing public awareness of SIDS and contributing to a future where no parent is faced with the tragedy of losing a child to SIDS,” said Joel Hollander, co-founder and chairman of the CJ Foundation for SIDS. “When my wife, Susan, and I lost our beloved Carly Jenna 15 years ago, we knew it was our destiny to help raise awareness and support research to help eradicate SIDS. It’s an honor to have these incredible celebrity moms join us in our race to end SIDS.”

Maclaren donated the four Maclaren Volo strollers to be specially designed by each celebrity, capturing her individual style and personality. The bidding starts at $500 per stroller and all proceeds will go directly to the CJ Foundation to support its mission. To help kick off the Celebrity Mom “Style My Stroller” Campaign, the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund, a public charity affiliated with Toys“R”Us, Inc., which operates the Toys”R”Us and Babies“R”Us divisions, has made a $10,000 donation to the CJ Foundation.

Idol And Dancing With The Stars Auctions For Great Causes

What’s better than an auction featuring items from your favorite television show? An auction featuring items from two of your favorite television shows! Fans of American Idol and Dancing With The Stars will be jumping up and down with excitement when they see what’s on offer over at www.clothesoffourback.org this week, with a mouthwatering assortment of garments and other surprises up for grabs.

The auction presents a unique opportunity for all those people who have watched Dancing With The Stars and said to themselves “I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes.” A host of the best celebrity dancers from the show are selling their fancy footwear for charity, and are inviting people to step up and make a bid. Melanie Brown, Vivica Fox, Julianne Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba, Samantha Harris, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Jane Seymour, and Lisa Rima are all putting their best foot forward and donating shoes to the auction, and the highest bidders will also receive a selection of products from Dr Scholl. The auction ends on April 18, and proceeds will benefit Camp Heartland.

A colossal crowd of celebrities have autographed the sofa, used at last year’s BET Awards, including Patti La Belle, Gladys Knight, Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks, Robin Thicke, Akon, Stevie Wonder, Vanessa Williams, and many more. Proceeds from the auction – which ends April 18 – will go to the BET Foundation.
