More Performers Added To VH1 Divas Show

VH1 Divas – benefiting the Save The Music Foundation – has announced additional performers to join this year’s tribute to soul music.

Chaka Khan, Erykah Badu, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Boyz II Men, Estelle, Marsha Ambrosius and Travie McCoy will join VH1’s “divas” in paying homage to these cities and soul music’s timeless classics at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. A group of musicians have donated their guitar plectrums to a very special celebrity charity auction.

The auction includes guitar picks donated by stars such as Mark Ronson, Paul Weller, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Depeche Mode, Coldplay, Duran Duran, Emmylou Harris, James Blunt, Dave Stewart, Paramore, Jamie Cullum, Razorlight and many more.

The auction will benefit two very important charities – Trekstock, which supports young people with cancer, and LIFEbeat, which educates young people about HIV/AIDS prevention.

Depeche Mode lead singer Dave Gahan and Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman were honored at the 7th Annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concert on May 6 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles.

Several artists and guests were on hand to celebrate, including concert promoter Gary Tovar, who presented Lyman with MusiCares’ From The Heart Award for his unconditional friendship and dedication to the mission and goals of the organization, and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, who presented Gahan with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his dedication and support of the MusiCares MAP Fund, and for his commitment to helping other addicts with the addiction recovery process.

Performers included Jane’s Addiction; Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington; drummer Curt Bisquera; Gahan with producer/musician Vincent Jones and bassist Martyn LeNoble; guitarists Jason Orme and Joel Shearer of Pedestrian; Ozomatli; Paramore; and Adam Bravin and Justin Warfield from She Wants Revenge. Paramore Launches Charity Auction For Japan

Rockers Paramore have announced a new online auction to raise money for the Red Cross’ efforts in Japan following the massive earthquake and tsunami that has left an estimated 20,000 people dead.

The Paramore Yard Sale includes shirts, pants, guitars and more than 30 items going under the hammer this week, with another 30 going up for auction next week.

The seventh annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concert will honor Depeche Mode lead singer Dave Gahan and Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on Friday, May 6, 2011.

Gahan will be honored with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his dedication and support of the MusiCares MAP Fund, and for his commitment to helping other addicts with the addiction and recovery process. Lyman will be the recipient of MusiCares’ From the Heart Award for his unconditional friendship and dedication to the mission and goals of the organization. All proceeds will benefit the MusiCares MAP Fund, which provides members of the music community access to addiction recovery treatment regardless of their financial situation.

Hosted by comedian Greg Behrendt, the evening will feature a special performance by Gahan with drummer Victor Indrizzo, producer/musician Vincent Jones, and bassist Martyn LeNoble, as well as performances by the groundbreaking alternative rock band Jane’s Addiction, two-time GRAMMY winners Ozomatli, and a special acoustic performance by Paramore. Stars Guitars is a family friendly gala that will feature a concert by REO Speedwagon, exciting live and silent auctions featuring guitars signed by popular musicians and a gourmet strolling dinner. Proceeds from this high-energy evening support the Charles A. Main, M.D. Pediatric Cancer Survivor Scholarship Fund of Beaumont Hospitals. Actress Kristen Bell will meet and greet her fans for charity this weekend.

The 28-year-old Heroes star – who is well known for her support of animal welfare charities and is also a member of the Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet – will be at frozen yogurt giant Red Mango’s 1-year anniversary in Los Angeles on Saturday, August 2. The actress will be signing autographs at the store on Weyburn Avenue from 1-3pm, and the store will be donating all of its proceeds for the day to Invisible Children, a charity that aims to create awareness regarding the plight of the people of northern Uganda by educating and inspiring individuals to use their voices for change.

Motivated by the unseen war in Northern Uganda, Invisible Children was created by three young filmmakers with a singular mission: To use the power of stories to change lives around the world. Mission Australia and Make-A-Wish Australia are two charities reaping the benefits of the Microsoft sponsored ‘Red V Blue’ Charity campaign. Microsoft enlisted the help of some top-notch celebrities such as Snoop Dogg and Kanye West to sign one-of-a-kind airbrushed Xbox 360s before putting them up for bids on eBay to raise money for the two charities.

Only 30 exclusive Red v Blue Xbox 360’s are being offered during the course of the four-week auction. Each console is hand painted with the artists face on one side, and their signature on the other. Raising money for Mission Australia, team Red members include Snoop Dogg, Neyo, Ice Cube, Justin Timberlake, Pussycat Dolls, Rihanna and Kanye West. On the other side and raising money for Make-A-Wish Australia, are team Blue members: Lupe Fiasco, Evermore, Linkin Park, Talib Kweli, Paramore and Eskimo Joe.
