Morrissey Wants An End To Animal Testing For Cosmetics

The British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) is delighted to have the support of legendary singer Morrissey for its No Cruel Cosmetics campaign to end animal testing for new cosmetics sold in the European Union.

Morrissey said, “Say no to injecting, force-feeding or forcing animals to inhale substances for a new lipstick or shampoo. Please join me in signing the BUAV No Cruel Cosmetics petition to stop the sale of new animal tested cosmetics in the EU.”

Hobbit Star To Play Celebrity Charity Golf

A host of stars – including famous faces from The Hobbit and Desperate Housewives – will be at a very special charity event in London next month.

The Leuka Mini Masters, hosted by Dougray Scott, is a unique mixture of mini music festival, summer garden party and celebrity golf tournament, and this year takes place on Friday July 15th at Dukes Meadows Golf & Tennis in Chiswick, London.

Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt and top model Jodie Kidd have joined Marks & Spencer to support the campaign to end cruel animal tests for cosmetics sold in Europe.

Wyatt and Kidd, along with British actress Jenny Seagrove and designer Meg Matthews, are among the first celebrities to support the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) in saying NO to cruel cosmetics.

Sport Relief Brings In The Charity Cash

Britain has just hosted a weekend of sport and entertainment to benefit Sport Relief’s work helping vulnerable people – and a whole bunch of celebrities were involved.

The weekend kicked off with the Sport Relief TV Extravaganza on BBC One and Two on Friday night, hosted by Richard Hammond, Davina McCall and others. The show raised an unbelievable £31.6 million for charity, and featured appearances by Annie Lennox, Robbie Williams, Emma Bunton, Cheryl Cole, Andy Murray, Kylie Minogue and many others. David Beckham even got warm and cosy in the bath with comedian James Corden in a special comedy sketch filmed especially for the event.

Michael Parkinson also took part in an episode of Ashes to Ashes, and there were special charity episodes of TV shows such as Masterchef.

British store Selfridges hosted a celebrity garage sale for charity in London during the weekend.

Items were donated by Gwyneth Paltrow, Little Britain star David Walliams, TV presenter Denise van Outen, Lily Allen, Davina McCall, members of the All Saints, Jodie Kidd and many more, with proceeds going to Mothers4Children, a charity dedicated to harnessing the compassion of women to create a powerful and enduring platform for change. Established by model and actress Lisa B, the foundation has trustees such as Yasmin Le Bon, Trinny Woodall, Anya Hindmarch and Natalie Massenet, and raises money for charities such as Kids Company and the Foundation for the Relief of Disabled Orphans.

Thousands of people turned out for the event, which featured 45 stalls – many of which were managed by the stars themselves.

The Television Academy Foundation is offering an array of exclusive items and experiences to bidders through a special online charity auction hosted by eBay Giving Works.

Jodie Kidd To Hold Charity Golf Tournament

British model Jodie Kidd is hosting her second annual charity golf tournament on July 21.

The event, which is to take place at the legendary Goodwood estate in West Sussex, will raise money for the Jodie Kidd Foundation – an umbrella organization the model established in 2007 to satisfy her overwhelming desire to help the charities she supports.

Last year’s event raised over $200,000 for three charities: the Monsoon Accessorize Trust, which assists disadvantaged children in South Asia; the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children; and Greatwood, specialists in the rehabilitation of injured and neglected horses. All three charities will also benefit from this year’s tournament.
