Robin Gibb Supports Music Initiative

Bee Gees legend Robin Gibb has been named as patron of a charity that gives British musicians the chance to earn a living from their art by protecting copyright.

The singer, who is currently fighting liver cancer, has joined the Rock The House initiative, which is also supported by Alice Cooper and others.

“British musicians deserve the opportunity to earn a living from their work, which contributes immeasurably to the strength of the cultural economy,” blogged Robin. “I urge musicians to support this initiative spearheaded by Mike Weatherley MP. The legislators need to understand the importance of intellectual property rights. I’ve championed this message as a Fellow of BASCA in the UK and globally as President of CISAC, and that lead has been recognised by the UK interior design industry in my Ambassador role for SBID. Let’s assure the future of our creative industries!”

Robin Gibb's Gotta Get A Message To You For Charity

Robin Gibb has spoken about his new version of the classic Bee Gees song Gotta Get A Message To You, being released this weekend to benefit charity.

The singer has recorded the new single with “The Soldiers”, a trio made up of members of the British Armed Forces. The Soldiers’ first album, Coming Home, became a hit on the British charts.

“The Soldiers had started recording an album of songs and I’ve Gotta Get A Message To You was one of them,” says Robin in an interview posted on his official website. "One day I had a request if I’d be willing to sing on it and because of its nature, it’s a charity record, I said yes to it right away.

Fashion Rocks For Charity At Bee Gee's Home

Against Breast Cancer served up a fitting close to London Fashion Week – blending designer fashion with rock n’ roll and a very English tea at the home of Bee Gee Robin Gibb at the charity’s ‘Splash of Pink’ Fashion Show & Couture Tea.

Staged at their Oxfordshire home on Saturday 25th September, the Bee Gee and his wife – a Patron of Against Breast Cancer – opened their doors to 400 guests. The designer Fashion Show & Couture Tea was topped off with a live performance by Robin and his band supported by Natasha Hamilton and Elan Lee.

In aid of Against Breast Cancer and marking the start of breast cancer awareness month in October, the Splash of Pink Fashion Show will help the charity reach its annual goal of £1m to fund its valuable research into breast cancer. A new blood test is being developed by the charity’s researchers to detect the secondary spread of breast cancer and they are working towards finding a vaccine.

Charity iPhone Application To Be Launched At Bee Gee Home

Against Breast Cancer is launching its own iPhone App, the first of its kind to be created for a charity fundraising event. The App will showcase the ‘Splash of Pink Fashion Show and Couture Tea’ taking place at The Prebendal, the home of Bee Gee Robin Gibb and his wife Dwina Murphy-Gibb in Thame, Oxfordshire on 25th September. Dwina is a patron of the charity.

Andy McDonald, Managing Director of Lifelyte iPhone and Android applications has developed the new App for the charity following his successful launch of the iThame App for the town of Thame.

Gordon Vallance, Director of Against Breast Cancer said, ‘This is a ground-breaking achievement for the charity and just one of the many ways we are using social media to share information about our valuable research. Better understanding the secondary spread of breast cancer will be the key to helping us develop a vaccine against the disease. We are extremely grateful to Dwina and Robin for allowing us to use their home for our fundraising event as we need £1m a year to continue our research work at University College and Westminster London.’

How Deep Is Barry Gibb's Love?

The Miami Beach Community Health Center is offering free health screenings all this week thanks to the celebrity board co-chairman of the Miami Beach Health Foundation, Bee Gee Barry Gibb.

He of the falsetto voice wants to draw attention to those without access to healthcare or health insurance, and believes this week will go a long way in the fight to help the 2.5 million Floridians that lack health insurance coverage.

“Everybody has access to healthcare, but too many have to go without,” said the former Bee Gee. “This is our community, make the commitment to care.”

Surviving Bee Gees Reunite

Barry and Robin Gibb reunited for their first performance since the death of their brother, Maurice, three years ago. The two surviving members of the Bee Gees sang at a charity concert in Miami to raise money for the Diabetes Research Institute. The brothers performed dozens of Bee Gees hits such as “Stayin’ Alive” and “How Deep is Your Love”, and sang “Don’t Forget to Remember” as a tribute to Maurice, who died in January 2003 after emergency surgery for an intestinal blockage.
