Starting in November, fans of country music superstar Trace Adkins, racing legend Richard Petty and BC and Goody’s Headache Powders will have the opportunity to help honor and empower wounded service members as well as children with chronic medical conditions.

The Pick a Powder campaign that began during the summer of 2010 with a friendly rivalry between Adkins, spokesman for BC Powder and Petty, spokesman for Goody’s Powder, is launching the “Like, Share, Change the World” campaign.

Kyle Petty will be a special guest at a celebrity charity poker tournament hosted by Tiffany Michelle on Thursday, March 3, in Las Vegas.

The Victory Junction Black Ace Charity Poker Tournament will take place at the Hard Rock Casino at 7:30pm on Thursday to raise money for Kyle Petty’s Victory Junction Gang.

Kyle Petty Rides Again For Charity

More than 200 riders, led by NASCAR driver Kyle Petty, kicked off a cross country motorcycle charity ride last weekend to benefit Victory Junction Gang, a medical camp dedicated to enriching the lives of children with medical conditions or serious illnesses such as cancer, hemophilia, spina bifida, epilepsy and more.

“With the economy continuing to struggle, these children and their families need our support now more than ever,” said Petty. “Victory Junction provides life-changing opportunities for deserving children and their families and it’s our hope that we are able to raise funds to impact many lives, despite the current economic challenges. Pattie and I are excited to hit the road with our fellow riders, sponsors and fans again this year. Riding across America provides unforgettable memories and lasting friendships for everyone involved.”

Celebrities, sports stars and big-hearted bikers flocked to the starting line of the annual Charity Ride Across America, which Petty started in 1995. His passion for motorcycle riding and helping others has translated into amazing numbers for charity – $9.1 million to be exact, and more than $13 million donated to children’s charities.

Bill Murray To Host Annual Caddyshack Charity Golf Tournament

On March 25 and 26, the Murray Bros are hosting the 10th Annual Murray Bros. Caddyshack Charity Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held at World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida, where the Murray Bros. Caddyshack restaurant is located.

Outside of the golf tournament, dinners and lunches will be served on both days. A silent auction will be held on Friday along with the pairings draw party. On Saturday, after the tournament has ended, an awards party will be held where Bill Murray and various others will entertain on stage throughout the night.

Hootie and the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker will host a celebrity charity golf tournament in April.

The 16th Hootie and the Blowfish Monday After The Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament will take place at North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on April 12. Scheduled to appear at the event with all the members of Hootie and the Blowfish are Samuel L. Jackson, Kyle Petty, Boomer Esiason and many others from the worlds of sport and entertainment.

The event will benefit the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation, which was established in 2000 to create an endowment that benefits children of South Carolina through education and supports school music programs nationwide.

Country Stars Thrilled By Volunteers

Tim McGraw, Dierks Bentley and Keith Anderson helped to raise over $200,000 at Halfway to Hazard’s 2nd Annual Charity Trail Ride in Tennessee last week.

Nearly 25,000 fans flocked to Eastern Kentucky for the event, held on August 22-23. The weekend saw families enjoying music, family activities and ATV rides while supporting Buckhorn Children’s and Family Center, which cares for suffering children in the area.

Halfway to Hazard’s Chad Warrix said, “We were hoping to just double last year’s attendance of 7,500 and raise more than the $110,000. The fact we more than tripled attendance and doubled money raised this year is staggering! We applaud all the volunteers and artists for helping us in accomplishing and surpassing our goals.”

Country Stars To Perform At Charity Trail Ride

Country stars Tim McGraw and Dierks Bentley will headline the 2nd Annual Halfway to Hazard Charity Trail Ride to raise money for Buckhorn Children’s and Family Center in Crockettsville, Kentucky.

The show will be part of a weekend of ATV trail rides on August 22 and 23, and will also feature performances by country duo Halfway To Hazard, Danielle Peck, Gabe Garcia, Bomshell, and Whiskey Falls.

Over 1,000 ATVs are expected to descend on the hills of Southern Kentucky for the event, and appearances will be made by NASCAR legend Kyle Petty, Motorcross great Ricky Carmichael, and music artists Randy Houser, James Otto, Keith Anderson, and Jeremy Popoff.

Kyle Petty Asks For Charity Support On Facebook

As reported last month on Look To The Stars, NASCAR driver Kyle Petty is to hit the road again for charity in the 15th annual Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America in May. And now he is using Facebook to gather support.

The Ride will depart Stevenson, Wash., on May 8, and travel east, making overnight stops in Richland, Wash.; Sun Valley, Idaho; Park City, Utah; Steamboat Springs, Colo.; Hays, Kan.; Kansas City, Mo.; Batesville, Ark.; and Nashville, Tenn., before reaching Greensboro, N.C., on May 16. Funds raised will support the Victory Junction Gang, a year-round camp for children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses, and other children’s charities.

Petty has now set up a page on Facebook that he is urging people to sign up for to lend their support for the ride, which is expected to attract thousands of people. Last year Petty raised over $40,000 with the ride, and he is hoping to top that in 2009.

Dierks Bentley Makes Music And Miles For Children's Hospital

Not only did country superstar Dierks Bentley become a dad for the first time last weekend, he also led a group of celebrities on a motorcycle rally to raise money for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

The 32-year-old singer raised over $275,000 for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt during his third annual Music & Miles for Kids celebrity motorcycle ride and concert on Sunday, just a day after his wife, Cassidy, gave birth to their baby daughter.

Bentley was joined by fans and motorcycle enthusiasts on the rally, which went from Vanderbilt to downtown Nashville and culminated in a concert featuring Tim McGraw and John Rich. Also performing at the concert – a huge surprise for the crowd of 5000 – was NASCAR driver Kyle Petty, who organizes an annual charity motorbike ride of his own.

NASCAR driver Kyle Petty has signed a guitar that is being auctioned off to raise money for his camps for terminally ill children.

The driver is currently leading a long-distance motorcycle ride through the United States to raise funds for the Victory Junction Gang, a series of camps he opened to serve children with a variety of health issues that would typically prevent them from attending camps. To help raise awareness of the ride, Petty has autographed a new Gretsch 6120 Nashville model guitar specially donated by the Gretsch Company, a familiar name to lovers of fine guitars, and the instrument is currently up for grabs on eBay.

“I can’t say how happy I am that Gretsch came on board to help us out like this,” said Petty. “It is a great guitar! I play my guitar every day of my life. I have one at home and I have one on the road with me when I travel. There is something about a guitar that just brings happiness. I have about 150 songs that I have written not only for my family, but for friends. This guitar is a unique item, and I am sure that it will do really well during this auction. We are really excited!”

NASCAR Driver To Lead Charity Motorcycle Ride

NASCAR driver Kyle Petty will lead a field of more than 250 riders as they wind their way from the Midwest to the Deep South in an effort to raise awareness of and funds for the Victory Junction Gang and other children’s charities in July.

The charity motorcycle ride will depart from Traverse City, Michigan, on July 13, making overnight stops in Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky, West Virginia and North Carolina, before reaching Georgia on July 19.

The charity ride has taken place every year since 1995, and this year marks the launch of a new fundraising program – The Charity Ride Dream Team Challenge – which is challenging individuals to form their own “pit crews” (called Dream Teams) to raise money for and awareness of the event and its beneficiaries.

Musicians Start The Year With Generosity

2008 has only just begun, but already celebrities are straining at the leash to spread generosity among those who need it. And a host of musicians have kicked off the year with donations and events to raise money and awareness for a number of good causes.

Pop group OK Go are set to release a charity EP on iTunes on February 5, with all proceeds going to victims of Hurricane Katrina. The 5-song release, “You’re Not Alone”, will coincide with Mardi Gras 2008, and will benefit New Orleans-based musicians displaced by the 2005 disaster.

“New Orleans is one of the last places in America where music is truly a fundamental part of everyday life,” said OK Go singer Damian Kulash, whose hits include “A Million Ways” and “Here It Goes Again”. “People get together on the weekends and parade through the streets just playing songs; 12-year-old-kids learn funk on the tuba; everyone dances. Life elsewhere in the world simply isn’t as celebratory. If we allow the culture of New Orleans to die by leaving its musicians marooned around the country, America will have lost one of its great treasures.”
