Ashley Greene And Kelly Ripa Host Celebrity Charity Night For Ovarian Cancer

Super Saturday 13, deemed as the “Rolls Royce of garage sales,” attracted a bounty of celebrities for its annual sale on Saturday, July 31 in the Hamptons to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF).

August 2010 Vogue cover girl Gwyneth Paltrow, supermodel Karlie Kloss, American designer Donna Karan, and celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe were among the superstars who enjoyed the family-friendly event. The celebrity support didn’t stop at the guests who came; over 200 designers including Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Diane von Furstenberg, and Giorgio Armani contributed to the designer garage sale, with prices drastically slashed. Massages, spa treatments, and pedicures were offered by contributors such as The Physique 57 Pedicure Salon.

Hosted by Twilight star Ashley Greene and television personality Kelly Ripa, the event had much more activities such as a carnival just for children, a luxury raffle, and plenty of gourmet treats. At Camp Divalysscious, there were performances, arts and crafts, s’mores, and personalized tee-shirts for kids.

Kelly Ripa Hosts Charity Cake Off

The flour was flying recently as self-proclaimed baking enthusiast Kelly Ripa and accomplished master baker and cake decorator Buddy Valastro, from TLC’s “Cake Boss,” joined forces at Manhattan’s trendy Chelsea Market to bake lavishly decorated cakes for a cause. The pair teamed up with Electrolux Appliances to host Kelly’s Cake Off in support of the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

“Call me a hopeless romantic, but I love Valentine’s Day,” said Ripa, who in addition to her duties as mom, TV personality and Electrolux brand ambassador, is also head of the bake sale committee at her kids’ school. “It’s a great time to show you care – both for the people you love and the causes close to your heart.”

Chelsea Clinton Spins Her Wheels For Haiti

Chelsea Clinton has joined the very generous and growing list of celebrities who are donating their time to help the people of Haiti after the recent catastrophic quake that, at last count, killed over 150,000 people.

Chelsea, in partnership with SoulCycle in New York City, organized a 90-minute spin class in which participants donated anywhere from $100 to $1,500 to attend the event. The charity spin class hosted by Ms. Clinton generated $66,810 in which 100% of the proceeds will go to Haiti via the Clinton Foundation.

Chelsea came up with the idea of the spin class for Haiti when she and her dad, former President Bill Clinton, travelled to the devastated country. “The day after the earthquake struck, the international community fed 3,000 people. Today, people have fed 100,000 people and we actually need to be feeding a million people,” said Chelsea. “This demonstrates how much we’ve done but how much more work we have to do. We need a lot of money to do that.”

Celebrities Slip Into Red Dresses For Women's Heart Health

New York Fashion Week kicked off with a celebrity bang during the weekend with the 7th annual Red Dress fashion event for The Heart Truth.

Stars such as Katie Couric, Tori Spelling, Patricia Arquette, Brittany Snow, Amanda Bynes, Hilary Duff, Jennie Garth, and Vivica Fox all strutted their stuff on the catwalk at the show in fashions created by America’s top designers for women’s heart health.

The Heart Truth is an awareness campaign created by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, part of the National Institutes of Health. It is designed to warn women about their number one health risk, heart disease, and the need to take action against its risk factors.
Jonas Brothers Raise Scholarship Money

The Jonas Brothers played a special gig attended by a host of stars on Saturday.

The boy band – who recently made headlines for their work raising awareness of diabetes – played at Ross School in East Hampton on August 9. The concert – attended by 650 people who paid $1,500 each – was part of a star-filled summer series to raise funds for the school, where tuition is up to $24,800 per year. Money raised will go toward raising the $2 million needed to build up the school’s annual scholarship fund and give any interested children the opportunity to attend.

“Our goal of events like this is to make the Ross School available to any student that is interested,” said Michele Claeys, head of the school. Currently, 40% of students receive scholarships to attend the school.
