Actress and singer Bernadette Peters co-founded Broadway Barks with long time friend Mary Tyler Moore. The charity, which promotes pet adoption, pet ownership education and pooling of shelter resources, holds an annual adopt-a-thon in New York.

Peters wrote a children’s book called Broadway Barks together with a recorded CD lullaby to support the charity.

She is on the Board of Directors for Standing Tall.
