Actress and comedian Mary Tyler Moore co-founded Broadway Barks with long time friend Bernadette Peters. The charity, which promotes pet adoption, pet ownership education and pooling of shelter resources, holds an annual adopt-a-thon in New York. She is also an animal rights advocate.

Moore is the International Chairman of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International.
