Toby Keith Raises Charity Cash At Celebrity Golf Classic

Country singer Toby Keith has raised $650,000 for charity at his annual celebrity golf classic .

The event raised money for the OK Kids Korral, a 16-room guest lodge, which will house pediatric cancer patients and their families on the grounds of Oklahoma University Medical Center. With completion expected in 2012, the 30,000 sq. ft. facility will be a haven of respite for families of young children struggling through cancer treatments.

From Toby’s website: "Once again, the "Denim & Diamonds’ themed event was sold out with more than 750 people attending the dinner and auction. The top auction item at the event was a dinner with Toby, which went for $52,000. Twice. That’s right, the top two bidders each won a private meal with the acclaimed entertainer. The second-highest live auction item was an all-inclusive elk hunt at the Express UU Bar Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico, including private jet transportation, which went for $30,000. Other top items included an all-inclusive Houston Astros suite and a spot in Tiger Woods Celebrity Pro Am. Nothing in the live auction sold for less than $7,000.

Toby Keith To Perform For Charity At Country Music Awards

Country singer Toby Keith will perform for charity at this weekend’s Academy of Country Music Awards.

The singer will perform a special song he wrote for a friend – singer and NBA star Wayman Tisdale – he lost to cancer. The performance of "Cryin’ For Me (Wayman’s Song) will be available on iTunes, with proceeds going to Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C).

“Wayman was an amazing guy,” said Keith. “In the song there’s a line that says ‘he showed us how to live and now he showed me how to die.’ Both of those were true. He didn’t frown on people for how they live, he led by example. He showed you how you’re supposed to live and he died with so much dignity. I am happy to partner with ACM Lifting Lives and SU2C to donate proceeds of the performance downloads to support this important cause.”

Toby Keith Hosts Sixth Annual Charity Golf Classic

Country music star Toby Keith held his sixth annual charity golf classic during the weekend of June 12-13 in Norman, Oklahoma, and raised over half a million dollars.

The tournament – which featured sports stars such as Bobby Hillin, Jr, Kevin Bookout, Kelly Newton, Nancy Lieberman, and Roger Clemens – raised $550,000 for Ally’s House, a facility in Norman for children with cancer and their families named after Allison Webb, the 2-year-old daughter of one of Keith’s band members, who died in 2003.

“So many charity events have struggled in this economy,” said Linda Webb, executive director of Ally’s House. “We are very pleased, and it’s really going to help us with all the exciting things that we have planned. … Toby’s support is a gift we never take for granted, and we appreciate it more than we can express. Even though we have the support of Toby Keith, which is invaluable which other organizations would just die to have, the need is greater than any one person or one event.”

Country singer Toby Keith has pulled out of a new movie so he can visit U.S. troops posted in Afghanistan.

Keith is a long-time supporter of the USO, and also helped set up Ally’s House, a nonprofit organization that helps families dealing with childhood cancer. Every year he holds a golf tournament that raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity.

He picked up the honor on 21 April in Washington, D.C. The award recognizes civilians who give back to military personnel. He will also take part in a 17-show USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour at the end of April, meaning he has had to pull out of the upcoming film, Provinces of Night.

Toby Keith Raises Cash For Ally's House

The annual Toby Keith & Friends Celebrity Golf Classic in Oklahoma last week set a new record by raising $709,000 for Ally’s House, a nonprofit organization that helps families dealing with childhood cancer.

Since establishing the golf tournament five years ago, country music sensation Toby Keith has raised more than $2.3 million for the charity – named after the daughter of one of Keith’s band who died from kidney cancer – and this year was no different, with more than 750 people attending the weekend of sport, music and a celebrity auction.

Auction items were donated by stars such as George Strait, Carrie Underwood, Loretta Lynn, Tom Hanks, Tiger Woods, Brett Favre, LeBron James, Andre Agassi, Tony Stewart, and Peyton Manning, although it was the chance to dine with Toby Keith himself that raised the most cash – a huge $35,000.

The holiday season may be at fever pitch now, but there is certainly a wide range of gift ideas to ease the stress of last minute shopping.

The VH1 Holiday Auction is currently being held at www.vh1auctions.com, and includes a long list of memorabilia from the music industry. All proceeds from the auction will go to the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, an initiative dedicated to restoring music programs in schools across the US.

Items up for grabs include a harmonica signed by Alice Cooper (which has already attracted bids of $250), signed photos of Aerosmith and Chris Cornell ($300), and a guitar personally autographed by Ryan Adams ($1500).
