Stars Donate To Grammy Charity Online Auctions

In celebration of the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, the Grammy Charity Online Auctions are open now through Feb. 23.

Presented in partnership with Kompolt, the auctions provide bidders an opportunity to bid on approximately 100 exclusive items, including once-in-a-lifetime VIP experiences, memorabilia from world-renowned celebrities, and official Grammy merchandise autographed by artists during Grammy Week.

Featured items will be available for bid in two cycles, including a 2012 Vans Warped Tour three-day/three-city VIP experience, including the chance to ride on the official tour bus; private guitar lessons with Phil Collen of Def Leppard and Manraze, and Diamond Rio’s Jimmy Olander; and official Grammy merchandise autographed backstage at the 54th Grammy Awards rehearsals and telecast by celebrity participants. This year’s performers include Foo Fighters, Paul McCartney, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen, and Taylor Swift, among others.

Precious Paws, the non-profit animal rescue organization based in Los Angeles, is launching the biggest fundraiser in the group’s history.

On Thursday, November 5th at 7:00 pm PST, Precious Paws will debut its Celebrity Experience and Entertainment Memorabilia Auction to an international audience exclusivel y on eBay. This 10-day auction, which is co- sponsored by Auction Cause, the nation’s leading online auction company, will conclude at 7:00 pm PST on Sunday, November 15th.

The charity is pleased to announce Mark Hamill will be participating in the event by allowing them to auction off a lunch for two with him. The actor, director, writer and producer who is best known for his role of Luke Skywalker in the original “Star Wars” trilogy, George Lucas’ epic space saga was an enormous success and revolutionized the film industry. For his portrayal of Skywalker, the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films honored Hamill with the Saturn Award for Best Actor. Post “Star Wars,” Mark Hamill has found success on Broadway in such productions as Amadeus and The Elephant Man, as well as on television. His achievements on the small screen include his work in front of and behind the camera, in both live-action and animated productions.

Def Leppard To Rock The Soccer Field

Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell will bring a little bit of rock to the sports field this weekend when he takes part in a celebrity soccer match.

Campbell will be part of a music industry team set to take on Hollywood United, a team made up of Hollywood celebrities such as Without A Trace’s Anthony LaPaglia. He will join Billy Duffy from The Cult and Christian Olde Wolbers from Fear Factory and many others this Saturday, November 22, at the Home Depot Center, Field 5, in Anaheim, California. Kick-off is at 3:00 p.m. Proceeds from the game will go to assist in raising funds for the victims of Hurricane Ike.

“I used to play semi-pro soccer for Germinal Ekeren when I grew up in Belgium before I became an axe-slinger,” said Olde Wolbers. "I was a goalie and soccer was my first passion. I always wanted to go pro and my dream of playing for a first-division team was granted until the coach noticed my first tattoo and the longer hair because I started to like metal and I got suspended. That’s when I started playing music more and decided I wanted to be in a band.

Ozzy To Host Rock Awards For Charity

Warning – you’d better hide your bats this Halloween, because Ozzy Osbourne is to host the annual Classic Rock Magazine Roll of Honor Awards.

This prestigious – and probably very loud – event will bring together some of the biggest names in the rock music industry to celebrate their musical achievements, with all proceeds going to ChildLine.

The awards will see Rock’s favorite names go head-to-head, with Def Leppard, Alice Cooper, ACDC and many others up for Album of the Year, Band of the Year, Event of the Year, and DVD Release of the Year. There will also be an auction of amplifiers signed by the stars.

Taylor Swift Teams With Def Leppard For TV Gig

On October 6, a very special fusion of musical styles will take place in Nashville when teen country sensation Taylor Swift joins with classic British rockers Def Leppard for a one-off gig for TV. And although the event is invitation-only and closed to the public, they really want you to be there.

Swift and the Leppards have organized a charity auction that will let two couples attend the taping of Crossroads, with proceeds going to Country Music Television’s (CMT) One Country charity, Hands On Nashville.

“Every time I’ve seen ‘Crossroads’ on CMT I’ve always thought, ‘If I ever get to do one of those, it HAS to be with Def Leppard!,’ so this is really a dream come true for me,” said Swift. “I have been screaming the words to Def Leppard songs for years so it’s amazing that I’m going to get to share a stage with them this year!”

Def Leppard Pours Some Sugar On Charities

Big hair, ripped jeans, a decidedly sexy lack of shirts – Def Leppard never did things by halves when they rocked their way through the 80s and 90s. And now they are back with their 11th album and a huge donation to their favorite charities.

Bass player Rick Savage, one of the founding members of the group, recently handed over a check for £6,000 (US$12,000) to two charities – the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Cash for Kids – after selling off some of the clothes he wore onstage during the band’s latest tour to promote their new CD – Songs From The Sparkle Lounge.

“At the end of our US tour I was going to throw out some old clothes when I got the idea that maybe we could auction them off, maybe through the fan club,” said Savage, who is a patron of the Sheffield Children’s Hospital. “But I was amazed by the response – the amount of money some people would pay! One T-shirt, which probably cost £3, went for about £1,000!”
