Kate Winslet will be releasing a special book to benefit her autism charity, the Golden Hat Foundation, in April 2012, and has called on some of her famous friends to help.

The book features a collection of stunning self-portraits from celebrities and cultural luminaries, all wearing a “magical” hat to support autism awareness and outreach.

Winslet has amassed a collection of photos from an amazing array of her friends and renowned personalities who have donned this special hat, taken a self portrait, and passed the hat along from one person to another. Jeremy Gilley’s One Day Of Peace Revival

After three years of meeting with heads of state, NGOs, and proponents of peace, Jeremy Gilley achieved what he thought might never happen: In 2001, the first ever Ceasefire Nonviolence Day on the fixed date of 21 September was unanimously adopted in the United Nations general assembly.

However, on 11 September, when Gilley was to announce the date at a press conference, New York’s Twin Towers came down and “the world was never told there was a day of global ceasefire and nonviolence,” says Gilley.

Gilley thought he could bring much-needed attention to the Day of Peace by showing the film he had been using to sell the idea to the UN, but viewers were unconvinced. Most saw it as a nice idea, but only symbolic. Frustrated, Gilley decided to make a new film and find partners. Eventually, UNICEF came on board. Then, actor Jude Law, attracting, at last, some press. After a tour through Afghanistan, Gilley received a letter from the Taliban promising to observe a ceasefire day.

Jude Law and Kevin Spacey joined Free Belarus Now for a protest outside the offices of public relations firm Grayling in London this week to bring attention to Grayling’s drive to encourage foreign investment into a country that is facing State-led persecution of pro-democracy activists.

According to its website, Grayling is the second-largest independent public relations, public affairs, and investor relations consultancy in the world. The company opened an office in Minsk at the end of 2009 and is currently the only international public relations company to have done so. Grayling states on its website that “Belarus is a market that is often misrepresented in global media”.

Winslet met Ericsdottir when she narrated a documentary film, A Mother’s Courage: Talking Back To Autism, about the family"s mission to find a way to connect with Keli. Eventually specialists “unlocked” Keli by teaching him ways to communicate. Despite hardship, Keli now composes beautiful and deeply moving poetry. One of the poems, among the many included in the book, is called “The Golden Hat,” which describes a magical hat that enables an autistic boy to communicate.

Peace Day 2010 will be marked globally on September 21, and a special concert will be held in Paris in the days leading up to the event.

Peace One Day will hold its annual concert at Le Zénith in Paris on September 17. Hosted by Jude Law and Sharon Stone, the concert will feature Patti Smith and Youssou N’Dour, as well as Charlie Winston, Ayo and Vanessa Paradis.

“This is the second year I’ve performed at a Peace One Day celebration,” said Charlie Winston. “It’s such a great idea which is beginning to move mountains. Peace One Day’s annual International Day of Peace will take place on September 21, and actor Jude Law is encouraging people to enter a new video competition to celebrate the initiative.

World Peace Day has been held on September 21 annually since 2001, when the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted September 21 as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence. The initiative came from an idea by Jeremy Gilley, who founded his non-profit organization – Peace One Day – in 1999. Since then he has amassed an impressive list of supporters, including Chris Martin, Sir Richard Branson, Angelina Jolie, Alan Rickman, and Michael Douglas.

This year’s World Peace Day will be preceded by a concert featuring Lenny Kravitz and Kasabian in Paris, and the organization has launched the video competition to help spread the word of peace. All you have to do is create a video showing how you will be making a difference on World Peace Day, no matter how big or small the action whether it’s bringing people together; making amends with someone; organizing a football match; doing something in the home, the workplace, the community; or simply offering your take on what peace means to you.

Kasabian and Lenny Kravitz have been confirmed to play at a one-off gig at the Paris Le Grand Rex to mark Peace Day next month.

“I’m delighted to support Peace One Day once again to take the message of Peace Day to the people,” said Kravitz. “Peace One Day is all about uniting the world, and music can drive that message. I’m pleased to be carrying the torch for POD this year.”

Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger is set to record a song with soul singer Joss Stone for charity.

The pair first recorded together in 2004 on a track called Lonely Without You, for Jude Law’s movie remake Alfie. They are now set to contribute another song to an album being released to coincide with the United Nations’ International Day of Peace on 21 September.

“Joss and Mick hit it off when they worked with producer Dave Stewart on the Alfie soundtrack,” a source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “So they were hoping to collaborate again. When this project was suggested they were keen to get on board, especially considering the glittering cast of other musicians involved.”

Twenty of the biggest celebrities from music, film, sport and business have painted face masks for a new charity auction on eBay.

The auction is raising money for Education Africa, an organization established in 1992 to assist disadvantaged South Africans in their quest to obtain a quality, relevant education in order to ensure that they are in a position to become global citizens and a competitive force in the local job market.

Up for grabs in the auction are masks decorated by Paris Hilton, Bob Geldof, Stefi Graf, Andre Agassi, Lily Cole, Amanda Holden, Annie Lennox, Piers Morgan, Jude Law, Simon Cowell, Melanie Brown, Lewis Hamilton and many more. All Saints Get Naked For Charity Auction

British girl band the All Saints have donated a drawing of themselves naked to a new charity auction.

The drawing – signed by all the members of the group – is one of 200 celebrity drawings and self-portraits about to go up for auction to benefit ex-footballer Bob Wilson’s Willow Foundation, a charity set up after the death of Wilson’s daughter from cancer. The organization provides days out for people with serious illnesses.

Joining the All Saints in donating drawings to the auction are Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gordon Ramsay, James Morrison, Bob Geldof, Matt Lucas, Beverley Knight, Martin Johnson, Wendy Richard, Vernon Kay, and many others.

Jude Law returned to Afghanistan earlier this week for a two-day mission in support of Peace One Day and UNICEF.

Film director and Peace One Day founder Jeremy Gilley was also on-hand, encouraging people to once again observe Peace Day on September 21st as part of Peace One Day’s global campaign for ceasefires and non-violence.

While in Kabul, the pair screened a new documentary, The Day After Peace, about how ordinary people in Afghanistan are working towards an end to the conflict.

Stars To Donate Fees To Heath Ledger's Daughter

The three actors who replaced Heath Ledger in his final film are to donate their fees to the late star’s daughter.

Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, and Jude Law replaced the late actor in scenes for Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus after filming was suspended when Ledger was found dead in his New York City apartment in January. In the film, which is slated for a 2009 release, Ledger must visit three different dimensions through a paranormal mirror in a bid to rescue the daughter of a traveling showman who sold his child to the devil in exchange for everlasting life. And although Ledger’s completed scenes will be included in the film, Law, Depp and Farrell will also appear in place of the actor in scenes that had not been shot.

“The great thing about it was when Heath died those three actors came along and saved the day. It’s now four actors creating one character,” said Gilliam. “The three actors were totally heroic coming in because this doesn’t happen very often, where there is a tragedy and very famous and successful actors come in and say OK we’ll do whatever it takes to help. To be part of that is wonderful. They didn’t take money – it goes to Heath’s daughter.”

Jude Law has just presented the new film he is featured in along with David Beckham – The Day After Peace – at the Cannes film festival.

The brainchild of Jeremy Gilley – who believes that media has a responsibility in the messages and images it distributes to the world – The Day After Peace is a film documenting his past 10 years of campaigning the world over for support of an official annual day of peace – September 21.

One of Gilley’s successes, a UN resolution to support the day, came in 2001. However, on September 11, the scheduled day of the announcement, the 9/11 tragedy unfolded in New York postponing Gilley’s victory.

Jude Law to Make Film in Afghanistan For World Peace Day

British actor Jude Law is to film a new documentary for the BBC in Afghanistan, as part of the lead up to World Peace Day on September 21.

The 35 year old star of “Cold Mountain” and “The Road To Perdition” will join documentary maker and humanitarian Jeremy Gilley in a film about the effects of war on Afghan children, and the efforts of UNICEF to provide aid. The pair will also record the preparations made by UNICEF in the war-torn country to celebrate this year’s World Peace Day.

“This is a historic project, rooted in film,” said Law. “I’m immensely proud to be a part of it.”

Jude Law Hosts Concert To Benefit Post-Katrina Rebuilding

The Music For Tomorrow Foundation is holding a concert on September 18th at Tulane University to help bring music back to New Orleans. Jude Law will host the event, joined by musician Wynton Marsalis and author Douglas Brinkley.

The concert, held at the university’s Dixon Hal, will feature the Irvin Mayfield Quintet. Mayfield, who lost his father to the hurricane, is the Cultural Ambassador to the City of New Orleans, and has played a critical role in bringing attention to the important role culture plays in the lives of the people and the city.

Music and the arts are recognised as the second largest employment group in New Orleans, and the city lost 90% of its musicians due to Hurricane Katrina.
