A private dinner for friends and associates of philanthropist, John Caudwell, has raised over £1.5 million for the charity he founded.

The Caudwell Children Butterfly Benefit took place on Thursday, 12 May at The Banqueting House in Whitehall for just 200 guests. The audience enjoyed a six-course gourmet taster menu and entertainment from Robbie Williams and Robin Gibb. BBC TV presenter, Alex Winters, was the guest host for the evening.

Take That stars Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow reunited on stage for charity in the UK during the weekend.

The pair performed their new single, Shame, in front of 60,000 people – including Prince Harry – at the massive Help for Heroes concert at Twickenham on September 12.

The stars were joined by Tom Jones, James Blunt, Enrique Iglesias, Alexandra Burke, Pixie Lott, Plan B and The Saturdays. The show was hosted by the best of the UK’s comedy talent – John Bishop, Kevin Bridges, Jack Dee, Jason Manford and Michael McIntyre – with a special guest appearance from Bruce Forsyth. Other acts who performed included Katherine Jenkins with Spelbound, Alesha Dixon and The Wanted. The concert was shown on BBC 1 and the coverage was presented by Cat Deeley.

To commemorate her May 2004 diagnosis of breast cancer, Kylie Minogue will be holding a benefit concert in February and will donate the money raised for cancer awareness.

“Early next year it will be my five years all clear and I would like to do something to mark that – something like a benefit concert. We are going to try and arrange something with my professor in Paris.” Minogue said to The Sunday Mirror. The concert is Minogue’s way of thanking her doctor who was responsible for her treatment.

Robbie Williams was in Haiti with UNICEF this week to meet children affected by January’s devastating earthquake.

“I met children who were injured, who had been separated from their parents and were living in temporary shelters or on the streets in Haiti – this earthquake hit children the hardest, the children there are so vulnerable, they’re living day to day without the basic things they need and at risk of violence and abuse,” said the singer, who is an ambassador for UNICEF. “I don’t know about you, but I think this is wrong and we need to put it right for those children.”

Williams has also just been named as an ambassador for children’s charity Caudwell Children, and is currently organizing his latest Soccer Aid celebrity charity football match. Robbie launched Soccer Aid in 2006, and the match takes the form of “England vs. The Rest Of The World”. Soccer Aid aims to raise money for UNICEF’s crucial work helping to put it right for the world’s most vulnerable children. Throughout the match program, viewers will see short films from UNICEF Ambassadors about how money raised will benefit children around the world. Sport Relief Brings In The Charity Cash

Britain has just hosted a weekend of sport and entertainment to benefit Sport Relief’s work helping vulnerable people – and a whole bunch of celebrities were involved.

The weekend kicked off with the Sport Relief TV Extravaganza on BBC One and Two on Friday night, hosted by Richard Hammond, Davina McCall and others. The show raised an unbelievable £31.6 million for charity, and featured appearances by Annie Lennox, Robbie Williams, Emma Bunton, Cheryl Cole, Andy Murray, Kylie Minogue and many others. David Beckham even got warm and cosy in the bath with comedian James Corden in a special comedy sketch filmed especially for the event.

Michael Parkinson also took part in an episode of Ashes to Ashes, and there were special charity episodes of TV shows such as Masterchef.
