Jenna Fischer Hosts 3rd Annual Fur Ball For Kitten Rescue Charity

Actress Jenna Fischer (“The Office”) hosted the 3rd Annual Fur Ball at the Skirball in Los Angeles this weekend, which raised funds for Kitten Rescue’s programs and the Kitten Rescue Sanctuary, a Los Angeles-based non-profit organization dedicated to saving homeless and abandoned cats and kittens.

“I started working with them [Kitten Rescue] in 2001,” the former volunteer Fischer said. “I worked with them for two or three years as a foster parent. You open up your home for a cat or kitten that’s been rescued from a shelter or abandoned, and you rehabilitate them and treat them like your own pet for a short period of time, and then the organization helps you find that cat a permanent home.”

Celebrities Pose With Pets For Charity

The annual Animal Rescue Foundation Celebrity Pet Calendar is out now, featuring some of your favorite stars and their best friends.

ARF was created in 1991 by Tony and Elaine La Russa to address the needs of companion animals. ARF saves dogs and cats who have run out of time at public shelters and brings people and animals together to enrich each others lives. ARF strives to create a world where every loving dog and cat has a home, where every lonely person has a companion animal, and where children learn to care.

Stars Come To The Rescue Of Kittens

Kitten Rescue, Los Angeles’s largest no-kill animal rescue group, is holding its first annual “Fur Ball” celebration on September 14, 2008 at the Skirball Cultural Center.

The “Fur Ball” marks 10 years of service and dedication to easing the plight of animal overpopulation in Los Angeles County.

“We have come a long way in ten years,” explains Ben Lehrer, President of Kitten Rescue. “We started out as a couple of people intercepting baby kittens as they were being brought into a city shelter and have grown to where we can rescue, rehabilitate and find homes for 1,000 cats and kittens every year.”
