Continuing a long-standing tradition of partnership in giving, Céline Dion, Caesars Entertainment and AEG Live will team up with Children’s Hospital Boston to support “Play Without Pain: Children’s Sickle Cell Benefit” on Jan. 15, 2012.

Doctors affiliated with Children’s Hospital Boston are close to discovering life-enhancing therapies to treat sickle cell anemia and are on the cusp of a cure; the aim of the “Play Without Pain” benefit is to raise much needed funds to complete this research as well as increase awareness about the far-reaching impact of sickle cell anemia. The benefit program will include a special presentation of Celine’s record-setting show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace as well as an exclusive reception at PURE Nightclub sponsored by Southern Wine & Spirits following the performance.

“As a mother, I was incredibly moved by the stories that were shared with me regarding the impact this disease has on children,” said Dion. “Participating in this benefit is a way in which I can get involved to positively touch these children’s lives. The funds we raise will enable doctors to complete their important research that will allow these children to grow up pain-free and lead longer, more productive lives.”

Reality Cares Hosts The Stars For Charity During Emmy Weekend

It may have been a busy weekend for the stars as they celebrated the Emmys, but it was a huge weekend for Reality Cares, which hosted three massive celebrity charity events.

On Friday and Saturday, the foundation hosted a Giving Lounge, where celebrities were asked to give back to charity in order to receive hot products. Some of the stars who turned out for the event included Boo Boo Stewart, Alan Thicke, Bob Guiney, Patrick Gallagher and Chelsea Staub.

Friday night saw Reality Cares hold a Cancer Benefit event to raise money for The Wellness Community-West Los Angeles, a charity that provides free education and support for people living with cancer. Hosted by Vienna Girardi, the event was attended by Rebecca Mader (Lost), Kara Taitz (The Hard Times of RJ Berger), Kayla Ewell (Vampire Dairies), Paul Iacono (The Hard Times of RJ Berger), Amber Lancaster (The Hard Times of RJ Berger), Bob Guiney (The Bachelor), Jesse Spencer (House), Patrick Gallager (Glee) and many more.

Stars Announced For Idol Gives Back

Emmy Award-winning Idol Gives Back welcomes Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, The Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox and Jeff Beck as performers on this year’s event, airing Wednesday, April 21.

The brainchild of Simon Fuller, Idol Gives Back has made history by raising over $140 million for charity to date. This year’s special will help raise awareness and funds to benefit various U.S. and international charities, including Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children’s U.S. Programs and the United Nations Foundation. Viewers will once again be able to make donations during and following the show. In addition, the week’s voting results will be revealed, sending one of the finalists home.

Twenty-five years ago, the iconic recording, “We Are The World” generated millions of dollars to help ease suffering in Africa. With a contemporary version of the song being released today to aid the victims of the earthquake in Haiti, Coca-Cola will be doing its part to support the cause.

Stars Revamp We Are The World For Haiti

Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie have revamped the song “We Are the World,” originally recorded 25 years ago. More than 75 big-name stars got together on February 2nd at Jim Henson Studios – where the song was originally recorded – to do it again. The song will benefit aid relief in Haiti.

The long list of celebrities includes Bono, Jason Mraz, Akon, Wyclef Jean, Usher, Pink, Céline Dion, Natalie Cole, the Jonas Brothers, Tony Bennett, Barbra Streisand, Lil Wayne and many, many more.

Dave Stewart Donates Suit To Charity Auction

Musician Dave Stewart has donated the suit he wore when he accepted the Awards for Outstanding Contribution to British Music for Eurythmics (Silver Clefs Award by the Nordoff Robbins Foundation) in 2000 to the world’s leading Eurythmics fan site for a charity competition.

Jonas Brothers To Play Charity Concert For Auto Show

The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) has announced the Grammy nominated Jonas Brothers will play a special concert at Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena on January 18, 2009 to help raise funds for the annual Charity Preview.

The 2009 Charity Preview will take place at Cobo Center on January 16 from 6-9 PM. Since its inception in 1976, Charity Preview has raised over $77 million for children’s charities in metro Detroit — over $32 million of which was raised in the last five years alone. Medical treatment, clothing and support services for local kids in need all are made possible through the purchase of Charity Preview tickets. Today, December 1, is World AIDS Day – and also the first anniversary of Annie Lennox’s SING Campaign, and the star has launched a host of new additions to the SING website to celebrate.

Annie Lennox has written an update about her SING campaign, an initiative she launched last year to raise money for AIDS treatment projects.

“December 1st will be World Aids day, and will also be the 1st anniversary of the launch of SING,” she wrote in her latest blog. “I think it’s essential that anyone who supports the campaign gets a clearly outlined list of everything we’ve done so far, so that you can get a better understanding of our accomplishments.”

Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon Still Going Strong

If ever there was a main event in the name of charity it would be the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon.

Year after year, millions of Americans tune in to watch the all-day event. This year’s line up of celebrity hosts for the telethon included Jann Carl, Tom Bergeron, and Alison Sweeney among other esteemed personalities, with performances by Céline Dion, 3 Doors Down, Kid Rock and Reba McEntire. Running 21-1/2 hours, the MDA telethon began at 9 p.m. EDT on Sunday, Aug. 31 and continued through the evening of Labor Day, with about $65 million raised during the run.

A special plea was also made for MDA-registered families forced to leave their homes because of the hurricane, which made landfall Monday in Louisiana.

Céline Dion Hosts Young Heroes

Twelve lucky young people were in Montreal last week to celebrate life and meet with Céline Dion.

The children – all of whom have overcome huge physical challenges – were chosen by Readers Digest to take part in the Faces of Love project and raise funds for various causes endorsed by the Canadian singer, including the CHU Sainte-Justine, the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children, and UNICEF. The mission of the visit – which was made possible by the donation of cash and goods and services from Quebec businesses – was to promote a book, a calendar and a set of greeting cards, entitled 12 Héros Parmi Nous, to be launched in August of this year.

“Children from all over the world are facing horrendous hardships. By telling the stories of the 12 little heroes who have overcome fear and suffering, Faces of Love offers a positive outlook on life,” said Martyne Huot, who led the project. “The determination of these children provides a lesson in courage for each and every one of us, and should prompt us to refocus on the basic values of our society.”
