Stars Sign Balls For Little League

Fans will soon be able to catch a series of baseballs signed by their favorite stars for charity.

On Friday, August 21, Little League Baseball will launch a very special online auction featuring over 40 balls signed by stars such as Zac Efron, Drew Barrymore, Billy Crystal, James Earl Jones, Charlie Sheen, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Larry King, the Kardashian family (Kim, Khloe & Kourtney), James Denton and Milo Ventimiglia. Additional balls have been signed by athletes including Michael Phelps, Jeff Gordon, Michael Strahan, Ryan Howard, Barry Sanders, Dave Winfield, Blake Griffin, Albert Pujols and others.

The auction will kick off on Friday on eBay.com, and fans will be able to access it by searching for “Baseball Design Across America.” The auction will last 10 days (concludes Aug. 30) and all the proceeds benefit Little League. Little League Baseball involves more than 2.8 million children and 1 million volunteers, and over 30 million people have played in Little League programs.

The Little League World Series begins Aug. 21 in Williamsport, PA. The celebrity signed baseballs will be on display at the games as a part of SUBWAY’s Baseball Design Across America tour. More info here

Swim With Michael Phelps For Charity

The greatest swimmer of all time, Olympic Gold medallist Michael Phelps, will take the plunge later this year to host a swim clinic for 100 kids to benefit the Child Abuse Prevention Program.

The charity auction – which ends today, May 7 – gives winning bidders entry for one child into the swim clinic to be hosted by Michael Phelps and entrance for two adult chaperones to accompany the child. The experience is further enhanced outside the pool, where participants will receive a photo with the swimming legend and a hand-signed piece of memorabilia. The date of the clinic is yet to be announced but will be held in the New York area sometimes this summer. Duration will be an hour and a half.

The Child Abuse Prevention Program’s mission is to ensure that all children receive their basic right to safety so that they can have the opportunity to grow and thrive.

Muhammad Ali Attends Celebrity Fight Night

The legend himself, Muhammad Ali, was the guest of honor at Celebrity Fight Night XV, held at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Arizona, on Saturday. And this year’s event once again lived up to its reputation as one the nation’s largest fundraising efforts, as celebrities and sport stars lined up to support the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center.

Since it’s inception 15 years ago, Celebrity Fight Night has raised more than $52 million for the Muhammad Ali Parkinson’s Center in Phoenix and other charities.

Country star Reba McEntire emceed the event for the fourth time, while guests such as Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner and Forest Whitaker were this year’s honorees who ‘best represented the qualities associated with the Champ and his fight to find a cure for Parkinson’s Disease.’

Kurt Warner, who received the Sports Leadership Award, said, “We’re just blessed. God put us in a position to try to make an impact and you receive honors like this and you accept them humbly.”

Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, who received the Sports Achievement Award, couldn’t have been happier. “It is good to be here with so many great people and Muhammad Ali especially,” he said. “I had the privilege of meeting him 4 years ago so being here and being with everyone it is a special night.”

Actor Forest Whitaker received the Entertainer Award and President of Kinray, the largest privately held drug distributor in the U.S, Stewart Rahr, received the Entrepreneur Award.

Guests also enjoyed musical performances by Jon Bon Jovi, Charice Pempengco, Ray Firestone and Michael Johns, while bidding on some incredible auction items. Celebrities in attendance included: Bo Derek, Jordin Sparks and Josh Groban among others.

The Celebrity Fight Night Foundation has announced that former MVP and current NFL Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowl quarterback Kurt Warner will be honored with the Muhammad Ali Sports Leadership Award at the 15th annual Celebrity Fight Night gala in March.

The event will take place on Saturday, March 28, at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Arizona, and will be hosted by Reba McEntire with entertainment from Jon Bon Jovi. Olympian Michael Phelps will be presented with the Muhammad Ali Sports Achievement Award.

“We are thrilled to recognize Kurt Warner with this award given his outstanding accomplishments over the years and his veteran leadership,” said Jimmy Walker, Founder and Chairman of Celebrity Fight Night. “We wish Kurt Warner and the Cardinals the best of luck in the playoffs!”

Founded in 1994, the foundation raises funds through this annual charity event. Recognized as one of the nation’s elite charity events, Celebrity Fight Night is a star-studded evening presented in honor of Muhammad Ali. Celebrities and professional athletes from all over the country participate in a night filled with incredible Live Auction items and live musical performances by many of today’s brightest stars. Bid 2 Beat AIDS Auction Jam-Packed With Stars

December 1st marked World AIDS Day. It was also the first day of BID 2 BEAT AIDS’s 4th annual charity auction.

Fans of celebrities in film, music, television, sports and Broadway have 10 days to bid on eBay for autographed items, VIP seats, original art, costumes and props, memorabilia, exclusive events and meet-and-greets from a legion of stars.

Autographs range from CDs by stars like Bon Jovi and Amy Winehouse, books signed by Madonna and Kevin Bacon, posters signed by Jake Gyllenhaal, Owen Wilson, and Matthew McConaughey, DVDs signed by Will Ferrell and Steven Spielberg, and toys, clothes, instruments and other memorabilia.

For those who crave concerts, VIP seats and backstage meet-and-greets with stars such as the Jonas Brothers, Tony Bennett, Jewel, Bernadette Peters, Harry Connick Jr. and Joan Rivers are up for auction. Olympic champion Michael Phelps and skateboarder Tony Hawk are also available for meet-and-greets, as is Paul Shaffer at The Late Show with David Letterman.

Previous Bid 2 Beat AIDS auctions have raised nearly $250,000, and this year’s proceeds are hoped to reach at least that. The proceeds will benefit LIFEbeat, dedicated to AIDs prevention, awareness and support.

Michael Phelps To Play In Charity Poker Tournament

Michael Phelps might be excellent in the pool, but he will have another sort of challenge when he competes in the Sunflower Children 2nd annual Texas Hold’em Charity Benefit on November 21.

Sunflower Children is a humanitarian aid organization that provides survival and development care for the forgotten children of the world. Their efforts encompass medical, nutritional, psychological, educational, adoption and other humanitarian support that nurtures survival, health, growth and hope for orphaned, disabled, abandoned, refugee and impoverished children.

Joining Phelps at the event – which boasts a host committee that includes Helena Houdova, Roberta Armani, Russell Simmons and Lane Carlson – will be Laura Bell Bundy, Poker Pro Lee Childs, and actors Michael Kelly (Changeling_), Ben Bailey (Cash Cab_), Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty_), Mark Indelicato (Ugly Betty_), Malinda Williams (First Sunday), and David Zayas (Dexter).

Tickets to the event – which will be held at Gotham Hall in New York – are available from the Sunflower Children website.

Michael Phelps: Fourteen Medals and a Heart of Gold

Fourteen-time Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps has announced that he is founding his own charity, the Michael Phelps Foundation.

The swimmer has earmarked the well-publicized $1 million bonus he is to receive from Speedo for winning eight gold medals in Beijing, and an additional $200,000 has been donated to Phelps’ foundation by Warnaco and Speedo International in honor of his record-setting wins.

Phelp’s first step as his charity’s ambassador is an eight-city tour across the United States, during which he will visit children and share his experiences of Beijing.

The tour will launch an education program, Dream, Plan, Reach, inspired by principles Michael learned as a child.

Dream, Plan, Reach teaches planning, goal-setting and responsibility, offering children a base that can support them beyond the swimming pool, and encourage them to live healthy, active lives.

“Thanks to a lot of hard work, some good fortune, the inspiration I drew from so many supporters around the world, and incredible teammates, I was able to achieve that dream by winning eight Gold Medals in Beijing,” said Phelps. “Now, my goals reach beyond the pool, to helping others realize their dreams, and continuing to grow the sport I love so much. I feel it’s only appropriate that I continue the momentum that Speedo helped to create, by committing my bonus to the establishment of the Michael Phelps Foundation, which I hope will help me inspire others to achieve their dreams, and give back to the sport that has given me so much.”
