On Tuesday, May 24 celebrities and poker stars came together to play in The H.O.M.E. Foundation’s Celebrity Casino Royale poker tournament, raising money and awareness for wonderful charities including spcaLA and the I’m Too Young For This Cancer Foundation.

Professional Poker Player, WSOP Winner, Author and “Celebrity Apprentice” star Annie Duke came out ready to play poker and raise money for charity. Celebrities battled against Annie Duke with the casino crowd cheering her on. Unfortunately, Annie Duke did not make it to the Final Table, getting outplayed by celebrities including Dancing with the Stars alumni Shannon Elizabeth and ABC’s “Off the Map” star Nicholas Gonzalez – both made it to the Final Table.

Celebrities To Kick It For Kenya At Charity Concert

A host of celebrities will attend a special benefit concert for Mama na Dada, a non-profit, non-governmental organization formed by and for African women to support the empowerment of the African girl child.

The Let’s Kick It For Kenya concert on June 4 will be headlined by 98 Degrees’ Jeff Timmons, and will also feature a performance by Ambrose and others.

The concert will raise funds for Mama na Dada’s girls’ soccer programs. Initiated earlier this year, the programs allow young girls in African villages learn co-operative team building and conflict resolution through sport. Find out more here.

Animal welfare warriors shouldn’t forget The Humane Society’s 24th annual Genesis Awards this Saturday, March 20.

This year will see Melanie Griffith present a lifetime achievement award to her mother, 80-year-old Tippi Hedren, for dedicating the last 40 years to the protection of animals and raising awareness of the exotic pet trade.

“Tippi is an extraordinary woman – both a hands-on caregiver to 63 discarded big cats at the Shambala Preserve, as well as a tireless activist who continues to work in support of federal legislation that would ban the breeding of and the trade in exotic animals in the U.S.,” said Beverly Kaskey, senior director of the Hollywood office of The Humane Society of the United States and executive producer of the annual Genesis Awards.

On Sunday, August 30th 2009, K1 Speed Torrance will be hosting a celebrity charity event to benefit the HiS (Harbor Interfaith Services) organization, which provides disadvantaged individuals with the tools and encouragement that they need to start on a path of independence and self-sufficiency.

The charity event will be open to the public (only $10 for spectators) and feature wheel-to-wheel racing action with more than 25 Hollywood celebrities from the world of entertainment and athletics. K1 Speed features environmentally friendly, high-performance electric karts that can reach speeds of 45mph and the action is sure to be intense!

Among the celebrities currently expected to participate are Corey Feldman and Michael Rosenbaum, who played Lex Luther on the hit television show “Smallville.”

The stars gathered at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday, March 28, for The Humane Society’s 23rd annual Genesis Awards, held in tribute of the organization’s ProtectSeals Campaign.

Special guests such as internationally acclaimed photographer Nigel Barker, Corey Feldman, Hal Sparks, Jorja Fox, James Cromwell, “Bones” star Emily Deschanel, former Oakland Raider Jarrod Cooper, Jennifer Coolidge, Carrie Ann Inaba, “Big Love’s” Ginnifer Goodwin and many more were on hand to present awards to a variety of celebrities, shows, and activists who have spent the last year making the world a better place for animals.

The major award of the night – the Wyler Award – went to Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi for using their wedding and Ellen’s talkshow as an opportunity to publicize to a broad audience their ethical decision to avoid animal products in the hope of influencing public behavior. After viewing videotaped congratulations from Sir Paul McCartney, both DeGeneres and de Rossi spoke about their journey toward ethical living and the changes they have made in their lives to reduce animal suffering.

Green Is The Color For Corey Feldman

Corey Feldman’s band Truth Movement is to play at the Key Club in Hollywood on April 10 at an event hosted by Ed Begley Jr..

Green Is The Color aims to create an “atmosphere of learning and communication about the environment, ranging from Fuel technology to alternative sources of energy.” Proceeds from the night will go to Global Green, and the evening will feature guest speakers such as Kevin Vickery – who is the co-producer of the award winning new film FUEL – and a live auction that includes a Fender Squire Stratocaster signed by Feldman’s band.

Run through your top 10 favorite films from the 1980’s, and chances are that Corey Feldman will feature in at least one of them. From The Goonies to Gremlins to Stand By Me to The Lost Boys to Friday the 13th:The Final Chapter, his is a face a whole generation grew up recognizing.

Recent viewers may recognize Feldman from The Two Coreys, a reality show on the A&E Network that also starred Corey Haim. Since the late 90’s, he has also been enjoying success with his band, the Truth Movement, but it is charity work that keeps the actor and musician occupied for much of his time. With interests in animal welfare, environmental issues and several other causes, Feldman was awarded the Paws of Fame Award by the Wildlife Way Station.

Last weekend in Los Angeles celebrities showed up at infamous Saddle Ranch Chop House on Sunset Boulevard for the second annual ‘Babes on the Bull’ charity event to benefit P.L.A.Y. (Providing Laughter and Amusement for Youth), an organization that collects new toys, books and games and distributes them to children in hospitals, shelters and other organizations.

Guests packed the Saddle Ranch for an afternoon of ’LA’s hottest girls’ riding the mechanical bull for charity with extra entertainment in the form of fire dancers (Fire Groove) and a live auction which included amazing seats at a Laker’s game, VIP booths at LA’s hippest clubs, golf outings, LA Dodgers baseball tickets and others. The best aspect of the auction was that everyone entering the Ranch-including the general public- received a hundred-dollar voucher to use towards auction items.
