Bruce Springsteen To Rock Autism Concert

Autism Speaks is proud to announce the next performance in their Concert for Autism series.

This year’s star-studded event will feature comedian Jerry Seinfeld, with a special appearance by “The Boss”, Bruce Springsteen. The evening will be hosted by NBC’s Meet the Press moderator, David Gregory, on November 17, at world famous landmark Carnegie Hall.

The event will benefit the families and individuals who live with autism every day by supporting research, awareness and family services initiatives

Jamie Foxx, Ellen DeGeneres, Tina Fey, Conan O’Brien, Seth Rogen, Martha Stewart, Katie Couric, Meredith Vieira, Glenn Close, Céline Dion, Will Ferrell, Edie Falco, Troy Aikman and Harry Smith are a few of the many committee members supporting this unprecedented, one-of-a-kind event. Serving as the evening’s honorary Co-Chairs are Sir Elton John, Senator Al Franken, Donald and Melania Trump, Ambassador Nassir Abdul Aziz al Nasser and Mrs. Muna Rihani Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, and Ernie and Liezl Els.

Jay Leno To Host Charity Auction

Fresh from finishing his reign as host of The Tonight Show at the end of May, Jay Leno will preside over a live and silent charity auction on June 13 to support charities operating in Southern California.

The Vintage Hollywood Foundation’s annual food and wine tasting event will be held at the home of Holly Brooks in Los Angeles and will benefit the Children’s Action Network. Items going under the hammer will include vacation packages, private dinners hosted by top chefs, tickets to the 2010 American Idol final, tickets to Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen and shows hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O’Brien and much more.

The Vintage Hollywood Foundation was formed to raise funds to support charitable organizations, both large and small, that work to promote the health and well-being of Southern California’s diverse community. Since 2002, the Vintage Hollywood event has raised more than $1,000,000 to benefit organizations including United Friends of Children and Save the Children.

Baseball Charity Match Benefits Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital

Former MLB legends and celebrities alike teamed up for the 21st Annual Joe DiMaggio Legends Game on January 24th at the Baltimore Orioles’ home for Spring Training, Fort Lauderdale Stadium. This year, the proceeds will help create a new oncology unit, complete with 20 new rooms, at the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, Florida.

Saturday’s lineup featured Hall of Famers and former All-Stars such as Orlando Cepeda, Brooks Robinson, Orestes Destrade, Andre Dawson, Alex Arias, Chris Hammond, Dick Allen, Paul Blair, Ron Blomberg, Dennis Boyd, Bert Campaneris, Rico Carty, Mike Cuellar, Alvin Dark, Tommy Davis, Al Downing, George Foster, Willie Horton, Al Hrabosky, Ed Kranepool, Bill Lee, Phil Linz, Dennis Martinez, Gene Michael, Minnie Minoso, John Odom, Amos Otis, Jimmy Piersall, Art Shamsky and Ron Swoboda. Former Marlins third-base coach and broadcast announcer Cookie Rojas and former manager Jeff Torborg were also in attendance.

Of the event, former Marlins star Orestes Destrade commented to the Miami Herald that ‘’This is a fun event. It brings in a good demographic of players." On a more serious note, he added that, "this [charity] is closest to my heart. [South Florida] is where I grew up.’’

Musician Max Weinberg, formerly of Bruce Springsteen’s “E” Street Band and currently of NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien, performed at the event.

Kevin Janser, the vice president and executive director of the hospital’s foundation, spoke about the importance of this annual tradition.

‘’The event has over a million dollars in sponsorships that is key in helping us build our new facility. We appreciate everyone coming out and having a great time at the ball game,’’ he said. "Over 45,000 kids get treated by our emergency department every year and 600 kids have been treated for cancer with 70 new kids every year.’’

Mr. Marlin Jeff Conine threw out the first pitch, and the National League beat the American League in a final of 14-3.

Look To The Stars Exclusive: The 60th Primetime Emmy Awards

After preparing herself for the biggest night of the year, Look To The Stars Celebrity Ambassador Rachel Zeskind found her way to the red carpet of the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards earlier this week, where she caught up with some of the stars:

Arrival was tricky – after an apparent security breach, additional measures had been put into place to secure the safety of all in attendance, thus making parking an hour long waiting process that was filled with numerous police and bomb squad check points.

Once there – and very late a mad dash to connect with my publicist was made – I headed to the red carpet as fast as six-inch high-heeled shoes would allow. Then came the insanity of the red carpet for an event of this magnitude, hundreds of stars in front of a thousand members of the press. Video cameras and crews swarmed everywhere and camera’s flashed from every angle down the entire red carpet walk.

Honestly, it’s intimidating and weird. I stand there, suck in my tummy and try not to feel less pretty, less famous, less tall, less thin…yadayadayada… and remember that on this day, I am the very best reflection of me that I can be. I accept this, try to say something loving to myself and smile posing for the photo’s. My insides are vibrating and I hope I don’t look as freaked out as I feel inside. No matter how many times one walks down a red carpet, the experience is intimidating and surreal.

Once inside I took my seat and tried to decompress as the show began. From inside the Nokia Theater a sea of glamour spread out from the edges of the theater down to the stage. The room was abuzz. This is one of the few times every year when all the actors and actresses and producers and writers and directors all get a chance to be in the same place at the same time, catch up, meet the ones they don’t know, and acknowledge and appreciate their peers.

One of the most powerful acceptance speeches was by Glenn Close. Her statements about how Hollywood has finally begun to recognize that ‘mature’ women can be sexy and powerful and play the leads in successful TV shows was met by an eruption of applause. She is one of those ground-breaking, pace-setting leaders for all female actresses. It is women like her that shake it up and teach people that women are not disposable after thirty – in fact, they just get better, hotter, and smarter!

During the commercial breaks and after parties I was able to catch up with some celebrities and talk to them about their favorite charities, organizations and ask them what issues were on their hearts and minds currently.

Larry David of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ said voter fraud was a huge concern for him right now as we move closer and closer to the election date for our next US President.

Conan O’Brien of ‘Late Night With Conan O’Brien’ said his most recent favorite charity is the Fresh Air Fund NYC.

Christina DeRosa, the up and coming star who will be seen in the new FOX series ‘Dollhouse,’ said that she was an Agape member and fully supported their outreach programs.

At the TV Guide after party I caught up with Emmy award winning composer John Wineglass – whose favorite charity is CASA – and Jon Voight, who is a passionate supporter of the troops stationed overseas.

The point to this all is no matter who you are, what you do for a living or what you look like, you are a human being who sucks in air the same way all the stars do. Your brain shares similar positive and negative thoughts as anyone else’s and certain issues move your hearts too. As a human being you were given a very specific unique set of gifts, passions and abilities to be appreciated by yourself and others as well as to be used to do your part in changing the world we all share.

Stewart to Host Night Of Too Many Stars

The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart is set to host the Night Of Too Many Stars, an “Overbooked Concert For Autism Education”, on April 13th. The music-and-laughter-packed event will be televised live from The Beacon Theatre in New York City.

Some of the guests joining the comic news anchor in the fundraising efforts are Matthew Broderick, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, Conan O’Brien, Adam Sandler, Sarah Silverman, and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.

Proceeds of the evening will be split among autism education programs, including new schools which provide vocational and life skills for teenagers and adults with autism, and outreach programs which provide training and consultation to families of young autistic children. A portion of the proceeds will go to Autism Speaks, an organization which funds research into the causes, prevention and treatments for autism, while raising public awareness about the disorder.

Other performers spending their time raising autism awareness at the event are Will Arnett, Rosie O’Donnell, Maroon 5, Kevin James and Amy Poehler. Past performers have included Martin Short and Ricky Gervais.

Autism is a growing concern in the US, as one in 150 children is diagnosed with the neurological disorder, and the number of new cases is growing rapidly. Severely autistic children are unable to communicate and understand, leaving them incapable of functioning normally in the world; even playing with other children can be impossible.
