Celebrities Inspired By Music For Charity

A new book in which celebrities share how music has changed their lives is set to raise money for the Prince’s Trust.

Inspired By Music features photos and stories from Take That, Al Pacino, Mark Ronson, Sharon Osbourne, Kevin Spacey, Bill Nighy, Bear Grylls, Ben Ainslie, Benedict Cumberbatch, Boris Johnson, Cerys Matthews, Gary Lineker, Gerald Scarfe, Jane Asher, Lemar, Michael Sheen, P. Diddy, Paul Gambaccini, Richard E. Grant, Ozzy Osbourne, Sir George Martin, Tony Blair and many more.

The book features a forward by Prince Charles, and award-winning photographer Cambridge Jones took exclusive portraits for it. Proceeds will go to the Prince’s Trust, which offers support by training, mentoring and financial assistance to help disadvantaged young people achieve their potential.

“[Music] seems to me that music is a fascinating phenomenon because, on the one hand, it is a truly universal language that knows no barriers of origin, creed or circumstance, and therefore has the capacity to engage us all,” said the Prince. “On the other, its expression and enjoyment is entirely personal, and so often the memory of a particular piece of music is bound up with an event in our lives.”

The book goes on sale in the UK on Friday at Starbucks stores and selected bookshops.

Paul Weller To Headline Cancer Research Gig

Musician Paul Weller will play a special charity gig in London later this month.

The former frontman of The Jam and Style Council will join Lemar and singer songwriter Paulo Nutini at Cancer Research UK’s ‘Sound and Vision’ event at London’s Abbey Road studios on February 26.

“I’m proud to be associated with this event and to be supporting Cancer Research UK’s amazing work,” said Weller.

As previously reported by Look To The Stars, the event will feature champagne and canapés, access to the recording studios where The Beatles recorded, a stunning exhibition and auction of images featuring iconic musicians by famous photographers, the opportunity to purchase a piece of music history in a live auction – featuring an Epiphone guitar signed by Paul Weller, ex-Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, Queen’s Brian May and former The Darkness guitarist Justin Hawkins – live performances, and the chance to rub shoulders with celebrity guests.

Daniel Craig Donates Bond Items To Charity Auction

James Bond star Daniel Craig has donated signed Bond memorabilia to a charity auction designed to raise funds for servicemen and women injured in action.

The auction will take place on February 7 at St John Fisher Catholic School in Harrogate, England, with all proceeds going to Help for Heroes to aid forgotten soldiers injured on active service.

As well as Craig’s items, the auction will also feature unique lots such as a VIP race day at the York Races as well as a three course meal and champagne from Skybet, and a part from a Formula 1 Williams racing car signed by F1 drivers Nico Roseberg and Kazuki Nakajima. There are also concert tickets to see Lemar at Sheffield City Hall, a £200 Azendi jewelry voucher, a print from Yorkshire artist Neil Simone and a stay in Harrogate’s White Hart Hotel.

Lemar Jets In For SADS Ball

British soul and R&B singer Lemar attended the SADS UK Grand Charity Ball on Saturday.

Just arrived back in the UK from Canada and flying off to a show in Edinburgh early on Sunday morning, the 30-year-old hitmaker joined dignitaries at the event in London to raise awareness of Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome, an umbrella term that includes a range of conditions such as cardiac arrest.

“Up to 120,000 people suffer cardiac arrest in a public place each year and cardiac arrest can affect people of all ages, sometimes even children,” said the singer during the evening. “So please support the work of SADS UK and give generously tonight.”

The evening also featured DVD messages of support from Rhydian, Leona Lewis and Ray Quinn, who all donned SADS UK T-shirts.

Lewis also donated an autographed dress to be auctioned during the Ball. Other auction items included a cap signed by Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton and a cricket bat signed by Freddie Flintoff.

SADS UK is a charity that helps to prevent premature loss of life and to improve the lives of those adversely affected by cardiac arrhythmia. It raises awareness about heart conditions that can cause a Sudden Arrhythmic Death, and works with government departments to introduce new guidelines to safeguard those who may be at risk from a fatal cardiac arrhythmia. The charity raises awareness about conditions that may cause SADS and symptoms that need further investigation, and highlights the fact that conditions can be hereditary.
