Jon Lovitz To Open Comedy Club Tonight

Comedian Jon Lovitz is set to open his highly anticipated comedy club in California tonight, May 28, with proceeds to go to charity.

The grand opening of the Jon Lovitz Comedy Club at the Universal CityWalk will attract a host of stars, including Heidi Klum, Seal, Dana Carvey, Christina Ricci, Lisa Kudrow, Daryl Hannah, John Stamos, Tia Carrere, Gilles Marini, Scott Foley, Paul Reubens, Kristi Yamaguchi, Brooke Burke, Ed O’Neill, Krista Allen, Gary Marshall and supermodels of the co-sponsoring Next Models agency.

The opening will benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, a non-profit organization committed to funding research to find a method of early detection and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer.

The new 400 seat club will have a beach theme, and will offer two shows a night, drawing upon the wide range of headline comics Lovitz has worked with.

Dancing With The Stars Supports Charity Bracelet Campaign

Viewers of the latest season of Dancing With The Stars – won last week by Brooke Burke – may have noticed the contestants wearing special bracelets. These were part of the I’m Tired Of… campaign, an initiative set up to raise money for charities and causes around the world.

For only $10, you can buy a bracelet like the ones worn by Burke, Kim Kardashian, Toni Braxton and the other famous faces from Dancing With The Stars, and $5 will be donated to the cause associated with that particular bracelet.

The project was started by Dan Hoffman and Carrie Pollare, a brother and sister who lost their father to heart disease when they were only children. Later in life they watched their step father succumb to melanoma cancer and leukemia, and their mother go through the trauma of dementia.

“There are global issues that touch us all, and make us want to advocate change, things like world hunger, child abuse and animal cruelty,” said Hoffman. “These are causes you want to get behind, because witnessing the devastation, neglect and violence is almost too much to bear.”

The pair launched the I’m Tired Of… bracelet program to do their bit to make the world a better place. Each bracelet is made from recycled rubber from old tires (get it? I’m Tired of…), and the money goes to causes such as cancer, global warming, AIDS, heart disease, hunger, animals, autism, and many more.

Brooke Burke Joins Voting Campaign

Brooke Burke and other celebrities came out to rally attention to voting one week before election on Tuesday.

When asked about the importantance fans voting on for their favorite dancing duo on Dancing with the Stars, Burke – who is currently starring on the show – responded, " It makes a difference on the show when people do not vote in regards Dancing with the Stars, and more importantly it makes a difference when registered voters do not vote."

Fiance David Charvet (Melrose Place/Baywatch) graciously stood off the red carpet as Burke entertained questions from the press. Burke shared the message, “It is important to let you voice be heard through your vote. This is an important election.”

Other celebrities on hand to support the Rock the Vote event hailed from reality TV and Daytime. Luenell Campbell of the new Comedy Network program the Chocolate News did the politically correct thing by showing her support for the Rock the Vote despite attaining stardom from the very politically incorrect hit film Borat.

The event was sponsored in part by the Reality Cares organization, which links reality stars with serving the community at large.

American television personality and entrepreneur Brooke Burke, frontrunner on ABC’s #1 television show “Dancing with the Stars,” is set to host One Vote Counts: Pledge to Vote at famed Hollywood hotspot Les Deux next week.

Exactly one week prior to Election Day, this event will support a nonpartisan effort to bring voters together. 12% of registered voters did not vote in the 2004 presidential election – this event aims to change that! One vote counts! It counts for Brooke on her hit show, and it is vital for the nation on November 4.

Celebs Design Bags For Mother's Day

Yoga bags designed by celebrities such as Courteney Cox Arquette, Martina McBride and Patricia Arquette are up for grabs at eBay Giving Works from May 5-15, 2008, to raise funds for women battling breast cancer. Swarovski has partnered with The Libby Ross Foundation and celebrities to create the decorative yoga bags using Swarovski jewels, with the proceeds going to help the Foundation’s yoga program.

The Libby Ross Foundation offers the “OM Yoga Program” to women who have had, or are undergoing surgery, radiation or chemotherapy for breast cancer in a bid to promote healing and a sense of well being. The program helps women get back in touch with their bodies through breathing techniques and gentle movements.

Other celebrities stretching out their creative talents include Melora Hardin, Kim Raver, Leah Remini, Ali Landry, Brooke Burke, Nancy O’Dell, Hoda Kotb, Debi Mazar, Cheryl Hines, and three mother-daughter teams, Susan Sarandon and her daughter Eva Amurri, Miley Ray Cyrus and her mother Trish Cyrus and Hayden Panettiere and her mother Lesley Panettiere.
