Kim Kardashian has blogged about a very special charity event taking place in March 2012.

“This year I was diagnosed with psoriasis, a hereditary, genetic, autoimmune disease that effects over 125 million people around the world and currently has no cure,” she wrote on her official blog. "On March 4 2012 it will be the sixth annual Walk To Cure Psoriasis and I hope you guys will join me in helping raise funds and awareness for the event. Over the last five years they have raised almost 1.5 million dollars to help research for a cure and there are now 22 walks across the country! They also started the first ever DNA BioBank, which is used by researchers across the country and the money from the walk goes directly to this.

Josh Duhamel Raises Charity Cash For Hometown

Josh Duhamel and Fergie brought the Black Eyed Peas to Minot, North Dakota, in the weekend for a special charity show to raise money for those affected by floods.

Over $1 million was raised at the concert, with proceeds going to the Minot Area Community Foundation Minot Area Recovery Fund. 12,000 people attended the event.

Duhamel and Fergie have publicly asked fans and celebrities to support the Minot area since the flooding began in June. Over 12,000 people were displaced from their homes during the floods, with over 4000 homes damaged – 805 beyond repair.

Thousands of people in Minot, North Dakota, have been evacuated as flood waters create havoc.

“There are major evacuations… My sister’s gonna lose her house,” the actor told Entertainment tonight from Russia. “The town sits on two hills and in between those two hills is a big valley and everything inside that valley is gonna be gone and so I just want people to be aware that this is going on and if there’s anything they can do to help to donate money to the MinotRedCross.org.”

The star-studded event saw over 4000 runners pay $10 to take part in the 2 mile run along the Santa Monica beach, with Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton, Dianna Agron, Teresa Palmer and many others taking part.

“If you’re like me, you’ve seen the pain and suffering going on in Japan right now and really feel the need to help… to physically help,” said Josh prior to the run. In January 2010, the star organized a similar run to benefit Haiti.

Fergie Walks For Charity In Santa Barbara

Fergie, six-time Grammy Award winner and Avon spokesperson, was a special guest at the eighth annual Los Angeles-area Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Santa Barbara, CA, on September 11-12.

The Avon Walk raised more than $6.4 million to advance access to care and breast cancer research, and attracted more than 2,800 participants from 45 states and Canada, including 322 breast cancer survivors. Other participants included Josh Duhamel, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag.

During the Avon Walk Santa Barbara, a noncompetitive event, women and men had a choice of walking a marathon (26.2 miles) or a marathon and a half (39.3 miles) over the weekend. The event kicked off Saturday, September 11, with an early morning Opening Ceremony at Chase Palm Park. Following the ceremony, walkers began their journey through Santa Barbara. Walkers had the choice of walking a half or full marathon on Saturday through the Santa Barbara area, supported by an all-volunteer crew and cheered by family and supporters along the route. Walkers and crew spent the night at the “Wellness Village” at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club in Carpinteria, CA, which featured two-person sleeping tents, hot showers, prepared meals, entertainment, volunteer medical services and comprehensive support services, along with leisure activities such as relaxing yoga to stretch out their muscles, a spa zone with mini-back-and-foot-massages, and “tool school 101” demonstrations from sponsor Tomboy Tools. On Sunday, September 12, walkers completed their final 13.1 miles, and celebrated their achievement with Fergie at the Closing Ceremony at Carpinteria State Beach with thousands of family and friends.

Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith attended the American Red Cross of Santa Monica’s Red Tie Gala last weekend, and helped the charity raise some serious cash by buying a surfing lesson as part of a charity auction.

Jada was honored at the event – held at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica on Saturday, April 17 – for her humanitarian work, and bid almost $6000 for the surfing lesson with Warren Metcalf and Garrett McNamara. As an added bonus, she was given a life-sized portrait of herself purchased in the auction by South Pacific Surgery Centers’ Simin Hashemizadeh for $25,000.

The evening also included a gourmet dinner designed by celebrity chef Nick Stellino , a private VIP reception, a Casino and live music, as well as the presentation of a very special “Red Cross Spirit Award” to the cast and crew of the hit TV series “HawthoRNe.”

Andy Garcia Wins Charity Golf Tournament

The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is a 72-hole PGA TOUR golf championship that started in the 1930s. Top PGA professionals team up with Hollywood celebrities, athletes and world-renowned musicians.

The Celebrity Challenge is a part of the tournament, and a fan favorite. Teams play only five holes, each of which as a specific purse. Players who win each hole receive the purse, and then give whatever they win to charity. This year’s winners were Jeffrey Donovan and Andy Garcia, who each gave 11,000 to the charities of their choice. Donovan chose to give to the Amesbury Educational Foundation, while Andy Garcia gave to First Tee of Monterey County. The total amount given to charity was $29,000.

This year the tournament was held from February 8-14. Players rotated to different golf courses, and the championship round took place at Pebble Beach.

Molly Sims To Host Charity Fundraiser

Molly Sims is to host the 2009 Friends of El Faro Fundraiser.

Friends of El Faro helps to improve the lives of the children of Casa Hogar Sion by providing food, shelter, education and a safe environment, with a long term goal to purchase land and build them a new home.

Since November of 2000, Adam Smith and his wife Leigh Kilton-Smith have been traveling with a circle of friends to Tijuana, Mexico every four to five weeks to spend the weekend with the more then 100 children of “Casa Hogar Sion” orphanage. It is here, where children, who have been abandoned or abused or neglected, have found a home, a place where they are safe and cared for, nourished and loved. The Friends of El Faro do what they can take care of the children, and Mama Carmen and Papa Jorge and the staff, remarkable people who have created a home for children who did not have one. Everything from cooking meals, to drying tears, wiping noses, lots of hugs, playing games, talking, listening, breaking up fights and mediating peace; building playgrounds, changing diapers, showing outdoor movies, popping popcorn, and most importantly, letting the children know that they are loved and cherished and important.

Transformers star Josh Duhamel has filmed a public service announcement in a bid to help fellow North Dakota natives who have been hit by the state’s recent storms.

“Many people in my home state of North Dakota have been impacted by floods and severe weather,” he said. “Help people affected by disasters like the current floods and winter storms by donating to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Your donation enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to victims of disasters. The American Red Cross relies on your support to meet the needs of disaster victims.”

The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund has already provided the victims with 181,993 meals and 500 “comfort kits”, but desperately need more help.

Michael Jordan's Charity Golf Tournament A Success

The eighth annual Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational (MJCI) – held at the Ocean Club Golf Course in the Bahamas – was once again a huge success. Jordan was joined by numerous friends who helped his four-day event raise over $150,00 for several worthy causes including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the James R. Jordan Foundation and the Butch Kerzner Summit Foundation.

Since the MJCI began in 2000, nearly $5 million has been raised for charity, making it one of celebrity golf’s most popular events.

“All year long, I look forward to hosting my friends at the Ocean Club Golf Course,” said Michael Jordan. “There’s no place I’d rather be in January than in the Bahamas, on Paradise Island, raising money for some very worthy causes.”

Josh Duhamel Bears It All For Conservation

Transformers star Josh Duhamel traveled to the shore of the Hudson Bay near Churchill, Manitoba, earlier this week to raise awareness of the plight of polar bears.

The star joined scientists Dr. Ian Stirling and Dr. Steven Amstrup, members of the Scientific Advisory Council of Polar Bears International – a non-profit organization devoted to worldwide conservation of the polar bear through support of research and education – as part of their Thermo-STAT project.

“I’m blown away by the beauty of seeing these awesome creatures up close and personal,” said Duhamel. “I wanted to see the effects of climate change and confront the contradictory claims about polar bears first-hand. The plight of the polar bear is a symbol of what’s going on globally.”
