Big Stars To Attend Celebrity Charity Event For Dizzy Feet Foundation

The San Marino Gallery will host an opening night gala for the premiere of LA Art Experience, a three-day exhibition of the gallery’s contemporary works at the historic Majestic Halls in Downtown Los Angeles (650 South Spring Street) on Friday, October 14th.

The three-day exhibiton of art music and dance will be hosted by Adam Shankman, Nigel Lythgoe, Carrie Ann Inaba and Katie Holmes, and feature guests Ice-T, LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Ty Perkins and many others.

The event will feature live music, dance performances, an open bar and over 100 masterpieces by San Marino Gallery’s leading artists from around the world. Proceeds from the gala will benefit the Dizzy Feet Foundation. Founded in 2009, the non-profit organization is dedicated to supporting dance education in the United States with an illustrious board that includes Nigel Lythgoe, Adam Shankman, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Katie Holmes.

The Dizzy Feet Foundation will hold its first ever fundraising event on Sunday, November 29. The inaugural Celebration of Dance will be presented by Nigel Lythgoe, Katie Holmes, Carrie Ann Inaba and Adam Shankman, and will feature Christina Applegate, Channing Tatum and many others.

The charity was recently established by Holmes, Nigel Lythgoe, Carrie Ann Inaba and director/choreographer Adam Shankman, and aims to support, improve and increase access to dance education. Katie Holmes performed on So You Think You Can Dance earlier this year to launch the charity. Supporters of the charity include Paula Abdul, Jennifer Lopez and Miley Cyrus.

“We see so many rough diamonds that you would love to be able to take under your wing and polish and say, ‘Wow, they look like they can become fabulous dancers,’ " Lythgoe told CNN. “But we can’t take people that just show promise. So in order to try and do something with that, we thought of the idea.”

The actress performed a song-and-dance homage to Judy Garland to raise awareness of the Dizzy Feet Foundation, a new charity established by Holmes, Nigel Lythgoe, Carrie Ann Inaba and director/choreographer Adam Shankman. The foundation aims to support, improve and increase access to dance education. Supporters of the charity include Paula Abdul, Jennifer Lopez and Miley Cyrus.

“I like to sing and dance, so this has been really fun,” said Holmes. “I think it’s important to let kids experience music and dancing and singing and the arts and also sports. The family headed to FAO Schwarz – the upmarket toy store – to select toys and games for Stockings With Care, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to making sure that families in need have everything they need to create the magic of Christmas morning for their kids.

Every year the charity – founded by television casting executive Rosalie Joseph and producer Tom Fontana (“Oz”, “The Bedford Diaries”) 16 years ago – helps over 2000 children celebrate Christmas while preserving the dignity of parents and caregivers.

The 30-year-old singer/songwriter performed 3 songs – “Waiting on the World to Change,” “Daughters,” and “Find Another You” – at Tony Bennett’s Exploring The Arts gala held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York. Hosted by Goldberg, the evening raised over $1.2 million for Bennett’s charity that supports arts education in public schools. Honored at the event were Reed Hastings, Chairman, President and CEO of Netflix; Sumner Redstone, Executive Chairman of Viacom and CBS Corporation; and Steve Wynn, Chairman of Wynn Resorts. Also in attendance were Katie Couric, Quincy Jones, and Rachael Ray. Tony Bennett closed the evening with trademark renditions of “Watch What Happens,” “For Once In My Life,” “I Got Rhythm,” “Who Cares,” “Fly Me To The Moon” and “I Left My Heart In San Francisco.”

As part of Bennett’s charity drive for the Exploring The Arts organization, an online auction is also currently running. If you were to look on a map, you could be excused for missing Malawi completely. Bordered by Tanzania, Zambia, and Mozambique in South East Africa, the nation of Malawi is shaped like a lightning bolt, with much of its land area covered by a massive lake. But it a country that is in dire need of help, and a host of celebrities turned out to a dazzling evening of fun on Wednesday, February 6, to raise awareness for what is one of the poorest countries in the world.

The gala event was hosted by Madonna on the lawns of the United Nations Headquarters in New York, with the $3.7 million raised going to UNICEF and her own Raising Malawi organization. A long list of stars, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Lopez, Tea Leoni, Lucy Liu, Billy Joel, Gwen Stefani, and Djimon Hounsou, attended the event, with tickets ranging from $2,500 to $10,000. The evening also featured performances by Alicia Keys, Timbaland, and Rihanna.

“I want to put Raising Malawi on the map,” said Madonna. “I want credibility as a philanthropic organisation. I want to inspire people. I don’t want them to just write me a cheque: I want them to give me a piece of their heart.”
