Angelina Ballerina Joins Katie Holmes And Friends For Charity

HIT Entertainment and the Dizzy Feet Foundation have announced that Angelina Ballerina will be lending her support to extend the Foundation’s mission of helping children nationwide pursue their dancing dreams.

Through the partnership, the Angelina Ballerina Stars of Tomorrow dance program successfully piloted by HIT Entertainment at the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in Bronx, New York, earlier this year will be expanded to additional Boys & Girls Clubs locations across the nation. As part of the partnership, scholarships will be awarded on both a regional and national level to assist outstanding young performers in advancing toward their dance education goals.

Angelina Ballerina, a beloved publishing property for close to three decades, is a little star with big dreams of becoming a prima ballerina. This feisty little mouse works hard to reach her goals and along the way, always learns from her mistakes. When little girls share in Angelina’s experiences, they’re inspired to go after their big dreams too. In addition to the critically acclaimed story books created by Katharine Holabird and Helen Craig, Angelina Ballerina dances her way into the hearts of young girls on PBS KIDS in the CG-animated series, Angelina Ballerina The Next Steps.

Stars To Help Celebrate Dance For The Dizzy Feet Foundation

The Dizzy Feet Foundation will hold its first ever fundraising event on Sunday, November 29. The inaugural Celebration of Dance will be presented by Nigel Lythgoe, Katie Holmes, Carrie Ann Inaba and Adam Shankman, and will feature Christina Applegate, Channing Tatum and many others.

The charity was recently established by Holmes, Nigel Lythgoe, Carrie Ann Inaba and director/choreographer Adam Shankman, and aims to support, improve and increase access to dance education. Katie Holmes performed on So You Think You Can Dance earlier this year to launch the charity. Supporters of the charity include Paula Abdul, Jennifer Lopez and Miley Cyrus.

“We see so many rough diamonds that you would love to be able to take under your wing and polish and say, ‘Wow, they look like they can become fabulous dancers,’ " Lythgoe told CNN. “But we can’t take people that just show promise. So in order to try and do something with that, we thought of the idea.”

Katie Holmes Thinks She Can Dance For Charity

Katie Holmes appeared on the 100th episode of So You Think You Can Dance last night, July 23, to raise awareness of a new charity.

The actress performed a song-and-dance homage to Judy Garland to raise awareness of the Dizzy Feet Foundation, a new charity established by Holmes, Nigel Lythgoe, Carrie Ann Inaba and director/choreographer Adam Shankman. The foundation aims to support, improve and increase access to dance education. Supporters of the charity include Paula Abdul, Jennifer Lopez and Miley Cyrus.

“I like to sing and dance, so this has been really fun,” said Holmes. “I think it’s important to let kids experience music and dancing and singing and the arts and also sports. This is the next generation, and I think it’s important to give them every opportunity to grow and discover what it is that they like.”

Celebrity Moms Who Are Changing The World

Mothers’ Day is a time for recognizing all moms, including some outstanding celebrities. Love Our Children USA has announced the fourth annual “Mothers Who Make A Difference” list, and Cookie magazine has announced their third annual “Smart Cookie” award winners.

In an effort to acknowledge women role models, Love Our Children USA is looking at women with busy careers who nevertheless manage to be good moms and get involved in charitable causes. CEO Ross Ellis says, “We are delighted to honor and celebrate these selfless and caring women who contribute so much to their children, families, society and to various causes.”

The key goal of the organisation is to prevent violence and neglect against children, and the recipient line up for the awards is impressive – Jessica Alba, Victoria Beckham, Halle Berry, Tina Fey, Katie Holmes, Jennifer Lopez, and Julianne Moore are all on this year’s list.

Tom Cruise Shops For Needy Children

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were spotted out and about in New York with daughter Suri earlier this week doing some Christmas shopping – for underprivileged children.

The family headed to FAO Schwarz – the upmarket toy store – to select toys and games for Stockings With Care, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to making sure that families in need have everything they need to create the magic of Christmas morning for their kids.

Every year the charity – founded by television casting executive Rosalie Joseph and producer Tom Fontana (“Oz”, “The Bedford Diaries”) 16 years ago – helps over 2000 children celebrate Christmas while preserving the dignity of parents and caregivers.

Madonna And Friends Shine A Light On Malawi

If you were to look on a map, you could be excused for missing Malawi completely. Bordered by Tanzania, Zambia, and Mozambique in South East Africa, the nation of Malawi is shaped like a lightning bolt, with much of its land area covered by a massive lake. But it a country that is in dire need of help, and a host of celebrities turned out to a dazzling evening of fun on Wednesday, February 6, to raise awareness for what is one of the poorest countries in the world.

The gala event was hosted by Madonna on the lawns of the United Nations Headquarters in New York, with the $3.7 million raised going to UNICEF and her own Raising Malawi organization. A long list of stars, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Lopez, Tea Leoni, Lucy Liu, Billy Joel, Gwen Stefani, and Djimon Hounsou, attended the event, with tickets ranging from $2,500 to $10,000. The evening also featured performances by Alicia Keys, Timbaland, and Rihanna.

“I want to put Raising Malawi on the map,” said Madonna. “I want credibility as a philanthropic organisation. I want to inspire people. I don’t want them to just write me a cheque: I want them to give me a piece of their heart.”
