AC/DC Makes A Dream Come True

A young rock fan in England had his dream come true when he met AC/DC courtesy of the UK Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Six-year-old Hendrix of Walsall, West Midlands, is fighting Acute Monocytic Leukemia and has been a huge fan of the famous rockers since the age of three, when he had to have a major bone marrow transplant – AC/DC’s music was the only thing that would calm him and help him sleep.

As well as watching the band’s Wembley show from a VIP box, Hendrix was escorted backstage where band members Brian Johnson, Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Phill Rudd and Cliff Williams presented him with a goodie bag and his very own miniature guitar, signed by every band member.

“Tonight has been fantastic for Hendrix and just to see him so happy means everything,” said Hendrix’s father. “He has met his heroes and this will be something he will never forget. Thank you so much for making his wish come true”.

Grammy Charity Auction Set To Rock

With the Grammy Awards only days away, now is the time to bid on exclusive celebrity items in the annual Grammy Awards Charity Auction and help a good cause.

Going under the hammer this year are VIP experiences with Katy Perry and Kathy Griffin, guitars signed by AC/DC, Taylor Swift, John Mayer, Fall Out Boy and the Jonas Brothers, books signed by Mariah Carey, Slash, and Céline Dion, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the set of a Rihanna music video or photo shoot.

Also on offer are DVDs signed by Flight of the Conchords, drums signed by the Foo Fighters, and memorabilia signed by Sheryl Crow, Katherine McPhee, Jesse McCartney, Tom Jones, Christina Aguilera, Robert Plant, and Sarah McLachlan.

And for the person who thinks they have everything, the auction also offers the opportunity to receive a personal phone call from Aretha Franklin, who will share her favorite recipes with you!

The auction will benefit MusiCares – which works to help those in need in the music industry – and the Grammy Foundation, which works with industries, cultural communities and the public to raise awareness of music and arts education. It runs until February 19 and can be accessed here.

AC/DC Singer Honored By Children's Hospital

A new music therapy room at a hospital on in Florida is to be named after AC/DC singer Brian Johnson in recognition of his charity work.

The singer has been a major supporter of a campaign to raise money and buy music equipment to provide music education for children at Sarasota Memorial Hospital on Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Johnson – who was born in England, became lead singer of the Australian rock band in 1980, and now lives in Sarasota – has been raising cash for the new facility through the John Entwhistle Foundation, named after the late bassist for The Who. The foundation equips hospitals with facilities, equipment and resources to help sick children recover through music.

Johnson is expected to take time out from the current AC/DC tour to attend the naming ceremony at the hospital on December 22.
