British glamour model Katie Price took part in a 10 kilometre charity run during the weekend.

Price was spotted running with new boyfriend Alex Reid in the fundraising event for Cancer Research UK in Brighton.

“Everyone knows someone who is affected by cancer so I wanted to do my bit to help the lifesaving work of Cancer Research UK,” she said. “I’ve been getting fit and running for several months and the Brighton and Hove Run 10km event is on my doorstep, so it seemed the perfect opportunity to take part. The sight of nearly 2,000 people all running together to help cure cancer is inspiring and I am proud to be part of it.”

The model ran the London Marathon in April to raise money for charity.

British model Katie Price has made a young girl’s dream come true.

The UK’s Make-A-Wish Foundation flew Suzanne – a teenager from Ireland who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy – to Manchester to meet her idol, Katie Price.

“I only have one wish and that is to meet Katie Price,” Suzanne had told the Foundation. “I love her – she is so down-to-earth and glamorous at the same time. We both love pink, and I love the way she’s both glitzy and gutsy too!”

Make-A-Wish treated Suzanne to a manicure before the meeting, and when they did meet, a crew happened to be filming Katie for a new TV program. Suzanne got to appear on the show with the model.

During the meeting, the pair talked about how Katie believes that you can do anything you want to do in life if you put your mind to it.

“The whole wish day was amazing for Suzanne – we will never forget it,” said Suzanne’s mother. “Thank you so much to Make-A-Wish for making this happen. It was almost like Suzanne’s life changed the day we took the phone call to say she’d be meeting Katie Price the following week.”

British model Katie Price has announced plans to launch a new charity.

The model, formerly known as Jordan, wants the new Katie Price Foundation to focus on helping sick and disabled children enjoy a better quality of life. Her experience with the cause is a personal one: her son Harvey was born in 2002 autistic and blind.

“Harvey’s condition has caused her years of pain and she understands the struggle parents go through with a disabled child,” a source told the Daily Mirror. “She wants to help other parents like her who are less fortunate.”

During the weekend, Price made an appearance at the Duke of Essex Polo Trophy for Vision, a charity which raises money for the benefit of blind, visual impaired and dyslexic children. Earlier this year, she ran the London Marathon to raise money for the charity.

Celebrities Run For Charity In London Marathon

Tens of thousands of people pulled on their running shoes and sweated their way through the annual London marathon yesterday, including a number of celebrities who were competing for charity.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay was one of many who lined up at the start for his 10th time at the event. He ran once again for the Scottish Spina Bifida Association, an organization that supports, listens to and helps children, adults and families with spina bifida, hydrocephalus and related conditions.

“It’s time for a celebration,” he said. “We’re fighting a global credit crunch, and in terms of coming out and having fun, it costs nothing to come and watch.”

Also competing were British model Katie Price and husband Peter André, who ran for children’s charity Vision and the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

“I don’t think you can ever be prepared for the marathon,” said Price, who raised over £250,000 for her charity. “It’s not a normal distance to run.”

“We’ve done the training,” added André. “Physically we may be up for it but I think psychologically is where we struggle.”

Other celebrities to take part included Boyzone singers Keith Duffy, who ran for autism awareness, and Ronan Keating – who ran for Cancer Research UK – as well as British cyclist Chris Boardman, who won gold in the 1992 Olympics and ran for The National Autistic Society, and weather girl Isobel Lang and 2002 Big Brother winner Kate Lawler, who competed for Cancer Research UK.

Last year’s event raised £46.7 million for charity.

Stars Donate Underwear To Charity Auction

A host of stars are going commando for charity this week by donating their underwear to a new charity auction.

Stars such as the Black Eyed Peas’ Fergie, Emma Thompson, Helen Mirren, Katie Price, Tilda Swinton, and Joanna Lumley have donated their autographed underwear to the auction, which will benefit the New North London Synagogue, an institution that offers a wide range of educational, cultural, social action, and other communal activities for both its membership and the wider Jewish and non-Jewish community, including a monthly drop-In for destitute asylum seekers.

A wide range of signed underwear is going under the hammer, from the extremely small to the strangely old-fashioned. Also up for auction are pants autographed by Ricky Gervais, Jarvis Cocker, Alex Kingston, Daniel Day Lewis, Nick Cave, Nick Hornby, Ray Winstone, Sacha Baron Cohen, and many more.

Money from the auction will go to buying food and other essentials required by asylum seekers. The organization explains: “Destitute asylum seekers have had their asylum claims refused. They live here in fear, terrified of being forcibly returned home where they face more of the persecution they originally fled from. Many are survivors of torture and have lost loved ones in conflicts back home. They are not allowed to work and in most cases are not eligible for housing or benefits. Many go hungry and some have been diagnosed with malnutrition. They don’t even have the money to buy underwear which is basic to human dignity, and so our celebrities have signed underwear to both raise funds for them and draw attention to their plight.”

Celebrity Gift Lounge Aims To Feed LA

As Hollywood gets ready for the 22nd Annual Kids’ Choice Award this week, Melanie Segal’s Celebrity Lounge is where celebrities are celebrating before the show.

Located in the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood and the brain child of Platinum Publicity’s Melanie Segal, the lounge invites celebrities to enter a lounge where they will receive the latest in gifting while helping out a great cause. For every celebrity guest that attends the lounge, Stouffer’s is donating 1,000 meals to LA’s needy. They are planning to “Feed LA for the Day” by donating funds to pay for approximately 70,000 meals. Feeding America and the LA Food Bank will be on hand at the event. Celebrities will also be asked to autograph an arcade-game from Dream Arcades, which will be auctioned off for charity.

“This is a great time for people to escape from the worries of the economic climate and enjoy themselves!” says owner of Platinum Publicity, Melanie Segal. “We’ve been hearing so much negativity in the news lately — it’s nice to just forget about all of that, be a kid again, receive some fun gifts, and give back to society at the same time! I think it’s what a lot of people really need right now!”

From the moment celebrities enter the lounge they can expect lots of fun and surprises. Guests will play on Dream Arcade games and Dance Dance Revolution. Big kids will try exotic teas at the Tea Bar and little kids can eat from the Candy Bar. Caricaturists, airbrush tattoo artists, Tarot Card readers and Grammy Award winning pianist/composer Charles Segal will entertain guests, and ManiPedi Cutie will be polishing nails.

Elton John Charity Oscar Party Attracts Big Stars

Elton John attracted more than a few big names to his annual charity Oscar party last night, February 22, with Victoria Beckham, Gordon Ramsay, Katie Price and Kate Beckinsale among the 650 guests.

The party is held every year to raise money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, an organization established and overseen by the singer that funds educational programs targeted at HIV/AIDS prevention and the elimination of prejudice and discrimination against HIV/AIDS, and for programs that provide services to people living with HIV/AIDS.

Last year’s party raised over $5 million for the charity, and this year is expected to have topped that, with a guest list that included Kiefer Sutherland, Sharon Stone, Elle Macpherson and Natasha Bedingfield.

“We give them the best that they can possibly afford,” said Sir Elton before the lavish party kicked off at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles. “It’s beautiful inside the tent, the food’s great, everyone will be served the best wines, but they need to be because they’ve paid an awful lot of money for a seat.”

Tickets to the event reportedly sold for $3,500.

Bid On Afternoon Tea With Katie Price

Fans of Katie Price – better known as Jordan – have the chance to bid for the opportunity to have afternoon tea with the model, with all proceeds going to charity.

The private tea party is for three girls and will take place at an exclusive London location to be announced later. Price has agreed to spend 45 minutes in private with the winners, who will then be welcome to carry on with their tea and sit and chat! Proceeds will go to The Disability Foundation, an organization that helps children and adults with all forms of illness and disability.

Price – who has an autistic and blind son – is also planning to run the London Marathon in April to raise money for several good causes.

The Disability Foundation aims to promote the lives of all disabled people, their families and carers, by supporting them in their desire to live an independent and dignified lifestyle – making their own choices. Their centre provides a “one stop shop” with an holistic approach to both conventional and complementary treatments and therapies. More information about the charity can be found at their website.
