Queen Pen Lends Voice In Fight Against Domestic Violence

Rap artist Queen Pen is leading a press conference on January 16th at Brooklyn’s Denim Lounge to push for tougher domestic violence legislation in New York.

Pen will be joined at the rally by VH1’s Persia of the White Rapper’s Show, New York State Senator Eric Adams, Assembly Member Hakeem Jeffries, retired New York Knick John Starks, and Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, (Executive VP, New York Board of Rabbis). Actress Jennifer Hudson’s Hudson-King Foundation for Families of Slain Victims has been invited as a special guest, with family member Greg King set to attend Friday’s event.

The Grammy Award winner draws from her own experience as a victim of abuse as the motivation behind her efforts. Last January, Pen was attacked and severely beaten after an ex-boyfriend broke into her home. During the incident, she was left unconscious and nearly died. Recovery from her extensive injuries was only possible after reconstructive surgery.
