Keke Palmer Combats Bullying With New Campaign

With the start of a new school season, this fall across the country, the YWCA USA and Saving Our Daughters have created an alliance to help combat the issues of bullying and abuse with young people throughout the US. This partnership is currently rolling out with Interscope singer/actress Keke Palmer, who will lend her time and support to both organizations’ efforts.

Keke has long been associated with organizations that work to bring awareness and change to communities throughout the world. Palmer was particularly impacted by the life of a 12-year-old friend and one of her biggest fans, Iliss Marie Benjamin. Iliss fought a tough battle against brain cancer and sadly lost. During her fight, Iliss experienced the cruelty of bullying like so many young cancer victims.

Stars To Celebrate World Peace Day At Bullets4Peace Event

A number of celebrities will come together on Wednesday for a very special World Peace Day celebration in Hollywood with Bullets4Peace.

The third annual Reloading Life event will feature a very special live performance by peace activist and international vocal sensation Liel Kolet, with a guest list that includes host Chris Noth, Bullets 4 Peace founder Rafi Anteby, LOVA Tea co-founders Stephanie Cence and Tara Wilson, Akon, America Ferrera, Bill Maher, Bobby Brown, Boris Kodjoe, Brandon T. Jackson, Brandy, Brian McKnight, Cedric the Entertainer, Chris Pine, Cynthia Nixon, Dennis Haysbert, Donald Faison, Eric Dane, Esai Morales, Eva Marcille, Forest Whitaker, George Lopez, Hill Harper, Idris Elba, Jill Hennessy, John Corbett, John Slattery, Jordin Sparks, Julie Benz, Kathy Griffin, Kiefer Sutherland, Keke Palmer, Kristin Davis, Kyle Maclachlan, Lance Gross, Lenny Kravitz, Paul Johansson, Regina King, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sean Penn, Shannon Elizabeth, Taraji P. Henson, Tatyana Ali, Travis Barker, Vivica Fox, Zoe Kravitz, Wayne Brady and many others.

Bullets4Peace is a jewelry line made of recycled bullet casings taken from reload centers, streets, and war zones. When a bullet is fired the tip flies towards the target and the casing falls to the ground. Manufacturers reload these casings with live ammunition. Bullets4Peace intercepts this vicious cycle by transforming the casings into unique and stylish pendants insuring that these bullets will never find their way back to war zones, thus promoting harmony and peace. Bullets4Peace transforms war bullets into beautiful and unique jewelry as a way of spreading consciousness of peace.

Chris Tucker Returns As Host Of BrittiCares Charity Run/Walk

Chris Tucker will return as host of the 5th annual BrittiCares International Smile For Life 5K Run/Walk in LA this Saturday, May 29.

BrittiCares International is a non-profit organization, committed to making a difference in the lives of children diagnosed with cancer and their families. The inspiration of the organization came from a little girl named Brittiana Henderson who was first diagnosed with Osteogenic Sarcoma (bone cancer) and later developed leukemia where she fought courageously, without complaining, while assisting other children with cancer to defeat the pernicious disease. Although Brittiana’s battle against Leukemia came to an end, the efforts of BCI have not diminished. BCI wishes to raise funds and public awareness to combat this disease.

“Congratulations to BrittiCares International as they continue to be a beacon of light and champions of hope by bringing smiles into the lives of children with cancer,” says Chris Tucker. "I salute you in your mission to honor the precious memory of Brittiana Renee Henderson of whom I call “Little Sister” by making sure that the world will never forget and can always feel the warmth of her beautiful spirit."

Charity Reigns Backstage At Teenage Choice Awards

The Teenage Choice Awards held in LA over the weekend were not just a chance for some of today’s hottest stars to show their stuff on stage – backstage there was more fun, all in the name of charity.

Celebrities such as Britney Spears, Jordin Sparks, George Lopez, Kat Von D, Lil Mama, Brenda Song, Keke Palmer, Dane Cook, Shawn Johnson, Jennifer Stone, and Taboo, will.i.am and apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas all stopped by to sign backpacks which are to be donated to City of Hope, an innovative biomedical research, treatment and educational institution that is dedicated to the prevention and cure of cancer and other life-threatening diseases, guided by a compassionate patient-centered philosophy, and supported by a national foundation of humanitarian philanthropy.

Stars also played a celebrity version of Bop It – the game that tests a player’s mental and physical skill by having the player follow verbal directions given by the game at faster and faster pace. Celebrities lined up for the challenge, with the winner – Shailene Woodley from ABC’s The Secret Life of an American Teenager – picking up the top prize of $10,000 for the charity of her choice.

Chris Tucker To Host Charity Run/Walk

The race against childhood cancer at the 4th Annual Brittiana “Smile For Life” 5k Run/Walk May 30, 2009 at Pacific Palisades High School, will bring the loving legacy that 13–year-old Brittiana Henderson left with the many people who knew her and her story.

Host, actor/comedian Chris Tucker, adored Brittiana’s courage and her love for others – he often refers to her as his “little sister”. Co-host Keke Palmer – star of “True Jackson, VP” – is excited about participating in this year’s event and ecstatic to be racing against childhood cancer.

At the age of 10 Brittiana was diagnosed with Osteogenic Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Courageously, she fought this disease and was like any other cancer patient, subdued to the confinements of the hospital. She painfully underwent chemotherapy and partial knee replacement surgery, in which never stopped her love from shining through the hospital walls. Remaining optimistic about her own struggle, Brittiana would visit other children in the hospital offering hugs, smiles, love and reading stories (her favorite).
