GLAAD honored Ricky Martin at a special celebrity charity gala over the weekend for his work with gay rights in Latin America.

The 22nd annual GLAAD Media Awards at the Marriott Marquis saw celebrity attendees and GLAAD honorees Ricky Martin and Russell Simmons join host Andy Cohen and guests such as Tina Fey (30 Rock), Vinny Guadagnino (Jersey Shore), and many more.
Other honorees of the night included Anderson Cooper, Oprah – for her show on Ricky Martin – and TV series True Blood.

Little Black Dress Wines Launch Annual Celebrity Charity Auction

Little Black Dress Wines kicks off another year supporting two great charities – Dress for Success and Clothes Off Our Back – through its annual celebrity little black dress and autographed wine bottle auctions.

Bidding begins January 17, just after the Golden Globes. Donations are “pouring” in from nominees: Glee’s Lea Michele donated an LBD while autographed bottles of Little Black Dress Wines were contributed by Black Swan’s Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis and director Darren Aronofsky; Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway (Love and Other Drugs); Frankie and Alice’s Halle Berry; Kevin Spacey (Casino Jack), Matthew Morrison (Glee), Colin Firth (The King’s Speech); Ryan Gosling (Blue Valentine), and Mark Wahlberg/The Fighter round out the list. The auction ends March 1, 2011 after the Academy Awards.

Olivia Munn was one of many who turned out in New York City for a stellar night of comedy on Saturday as part of the Night Of Too Many Stars – An Overbooked Concert for Autism Education.

A massive number of comedy’s greatest talents hit the stage at the Beacon Theatre for the event, including Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Lewis Black, Jimmy Fallon, Ricky Gervais, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, Jon Stewart and many more.

Tina Fey took part in a special charity walk across New York’s Brooklyn Bridge to raise money for cancer research last week. 

The star of comedy 30 Rock was a special ambassador for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s annual Light the Night Walk across the landmark from Manhattan to Brooklyn on Thursday, October 15.

 "A very good friend of mine was diagnosed with Lymphoma and is now a survivor," she said. “She’s a young woman, a young mother; this disease affects families so much. Every four minutes someone is diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease or leukaemia or lymphoma. So come on out, there’s walks all over the country, not just in New York.”

Stars Decorate Bags For Charity Auction

A group of stars is to launch an online auction of hand-decorated messenger bags for charity.

Celebrities such as Chace Crawford, Debra Messing, Twilight’s Taylor Lautner, Samantha Harris, Sophia Bush, Tina Fey and many more have put their hearts into decorating the bags for Books For Kids, an organization that promotes literacy among all children with a special emphasis on low-income and at-risk preschool- aged children.

Books for Kids creates libraries, donates books, and partners with literacy programs to develop the critical early foundation and skills which young children need to be successful in life. Since its founding in 1986, the Books for Kids Foundation has provided children with more than 5 million books, created 56 libraries and provided literacy programs in many of these locations.

Lovers of the comedy titans Tina Fey and Steve Carell recently got their chance to not only help others, but also to win a big screen debut with their favorite comedians, when the online charity auction site CharityFolks.com offered bidders a walk-on role in the upcoming Fey/Carell flick Date Night. The event brought in $14,000 and will benefit the community focused organizations DreamYard and The Urban Ecology Institute.

Fey and Carell are no strangers to charity. Carell is an avid supporter of pediatric cancer and has used the special premieres of two of his recent films for the Zachary Carson Brain Tumor Fund. Fey has used her comedic genius to participate in events such as 2007’s A Night of Too Many Stars to bring attention to Autism as well as raise proceeds for Autism Speaks and Autism education programs.

Stewart to Host Night Of Too Many Stars

The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart is set to host the Night Of Too Many Stars, an “Overbooked Concert For Autism Education”, on April 13th. The music-and-laughter-packed event will be televised live from The Beacon Theatre in New York City.

Some of the guests joining the comic news anchor in the fundraising efforts are Matthew Broderick, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, Conan O’Brien, Adam Sandler, Sarah Silverman, and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.

Proceeds of the evening will be split among autism education programs, including new schools which provide vocational and life skills for teenagers and adults with autism, and outreach programs which provide training and consultation to families of young autistic children. A portion of the proceeds will go to Autism Speaks, an organization which funds research into the causes, prevention and treatments for autism, while raising public awareness about the disorder.
