Stars To Attend Cause Just 4 Paws Celebrity Charity Event

A number of stars are expected to attend the Cause Just 4 Paws celebrity charity event to help spread the word about animal adoptions this weekend.

They currently rescue dogs from high kill shelters and place them in foster homes until they can find them they’re forever home. They also make sure the dogs are well taken care of with vet check ups, spade/neutered, micro-chipped, and up-to-date on all vaccines. As you know, rescue groups are always desperately in need of funds to help out displaced animals.

KISS legend Gene Simmons and his longtime partner, Shannon Tweed, have adopted a dog from the Saskatoon SPCA, and made a video urging people to follow their example.

“You should adopt a pet from the Saskatoon SPCA,” says Shannon in a video they made for the charity. “They’ve got great animals down there.”

“Do it… or we’ll find out where you live…” jokes Gene, who also made a donation to the organization.

Motorhead frontman Lemmy, former KISS star Ace Frehley and legendary guitarist Slash rocked Los Angeles on May 7 for the sixth annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concert in honor of former First Lady Betty Ford and to raise money for the famous Betty Ford Center she founded.

In addition to raising money for the MusiCares MAP Fund – which provides members of the music community access to addiction recovery treatment –
Samantha Ronson also DJed during the event in memory of tragic death of Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein, who died after suffering an accidental drug overdose last August.

KISS Launches Auction For Jimmy Page's Charity

KISS has announced it will hold an auction to benefit a charity established by Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page.

The rockers have donated a Meet-And-Greet package to the auction to raise money for the ABC Trust, an organization that helps street kids in Brazil. The packages include tickets to the band’s gig at Wembley Arena on May 12, as well as a personal photo with the band, a concert shirt, poster, guitar picks and a $100 voucher at their online store.

All money raised from this auction will go to the Action for Brazil’s Children Trust, a charity dedicated to helping the street children and most vulnerable young people of Brazil. By raising awareness and funding, ABC supports the work of local, community-led organizations who give children the education, support and inspiration they need to transform their lives. An estimated 7 million children live or work on the streets, and 54 million live in poverty.

Gene Simmons Urges Fans To Check For Cancer

KISS rocker Gene Simmons is encouraging his male fans to ensure their wives and girlfriends are checked regularly for cancer.

“One in every eight women will get breast cancer,” he said on Lopez Tonight! on Monday. “I urge you, the guys out there, to make sure your girlfriend goes to see a doctor today. If you catch it early she will live.”

The plea comes after the bass player’s longtime partner Shannon Tweed, discovered a lump on her breast.

Arnold Schwarzenegger And KISS Sign Poker Table For Charity

Poker fans will be itching to get their hands on a poker table signed by some great celebrities being auctioned for charity.

The San Manuel table has been signed by KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, as well as Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ray Romano, Magic Johnson, Mary Hart, Huell Hauser and Mayor Villaraigosa. 100% of the proceeds will go to City of Hope, a research, treatment and educational institution dedicated to the prevention and cure of cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

The auction runs until March 15, and can be accessed via eBay.

KISS Donate Instruments To School

KISS – the rockers who blasted their way to fame in the 1970s – have shown their charitable side by donating musical instruments to a school in Oklahoma.

The band joined with the Mr Holland’s Opus Foundation to give 40 instruments to Wilson Middle School in Tulsa on Wednesday. The donation was filmed as part of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for an episode in which the band helps rebuild the home of a local music teacher.

The Mr Holland’s Opus Foundation donates new and refurbished musical instruments to underserved schools, community music programs and individual students nationwide, in an effort to give youngsters the many benefits of music education, help them to be better students and inspire creativity and expression through playing music.

Gene Simmons Encourages Fathers To Take Responsibility

KISS bassist Gene Simmons has reportedly sold his kidney stone for charity.

“I passed a kidney stone and I put it on eBay for charity,” the musician told The Today Show’s Kathie Lee Gifford last week. “I got $15,000.”

Simmons did not reveal which charity he will give the money to.

KISS vocalist and guitarist Paul Stanley will donate the first bottles of his new range of wines to a charity auction to help victims of February’s devastating bush fires in Australia.

The first bottles of the Paul Stanley Collection – produced in the Barossa Valley – won’t be available to the public until 2010, but Stanley has donated the first bottles and an original painting to the Australian Red Cross to be auctioned off simultaneously in Melbourne and Sydney on May 30.

“We have decided to offer something unique that will capture the imagination of bidders,” said Paul Roper of Wines To The Stars. “We are in fact presenting the opportunity to bid for wines that are ‘one-off bottles’ and extremely rare and collectible. Singer Paul Stanley from the classic band KISS made a sick child’s day when he made a surprise phone call to the 11-year-old after learning of his battle with leukaemia.

Christopher ‘Critter’ Smith was undergoing chemotherapy at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Ohio last week when he received the call from the star.

“At first, I thought it was just my dad messing with me,” he told NKY.com. “When I realized it was really him, I was like, ‘Oh my God!’”
