Celebrities To Wear Purple For Spirit Day

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) will join millions of lesbian gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people and allies by participating in Spirit Day and wearing purple on October 20, 2011.

Wearing purple on this day symbolizes support for LGBT people and against bullying of LGBT teens.

GLAAD is working with organizations including the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the PACER Center, GLSEN, GSA Network, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), PFLAG and The Trevor Project as part of National Bullying Prevention Month to inspire Americans to wear purple on Spirit Day.

Debbie Gibson Launches Celebrity Jeans Charity Auction

Singer Debbie Gibson has launched a new online charity auction, and a whole bunch of her celebrity friends are helping out.

The Only In My Jeans auction (a play on Deb’s 1987 hit single “Only In My Dreams”) sees jeans signed by celebrities such as the casts of Desperate Housewives and Glee (pictured below), Ryan Seacrest, Rob Thomas, Hilary Duff, Rick Fox, Lance Bass, Chris Angel and many more going under the hammer for the Gibson Girl Foundation – a charity that awards scholarships to qualifying youth who desire to attend an entertainment camp, but are unable to afford camp tuition.

Shenae Grimes hosted an exciting event for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Wednesday, celebrating art, friends, family and, above all, charity.

Held at the Avalon Beverly Hills, the event showcased over 20 photographs taken by Shenae Grimes of her dear friend, Laura Worthington who has been bravely battling her Hodgkins Lymphoma. Aiming to raise awareness and money for those affected by Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, proceeds from the sales of the photos helped raise thousands of dollars for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

‘90210’ castmates came and showed their support of the cause, bidding on photos, mingling with guests and admiring the photographs. A sharp looking Kevin Connolly arrived with a pal and relaxed poolside in a cabana after greeting Shenae and Laura and bidding on photos as well. Towards the end of the night Shenae gave a very organic and moving speech, thanking guests and sponsors, and above all her good friend and muse, Laura Worthington.

90210 Stars Come Out For Habitat For Humanity

It was a case of life imitating art for cast members of 90210 last Saturday, March 14, when they banded together for a Habitat For Humanity building project.

Cast members Shenae Grimes, Adam Gregory, Tristan Wilds, Dustin Milligan and Jessica Stroup helped the charity build its 100th house in Pacoima, California, and met with families from the community and their fans.

“Most people that live in America today are very blessed with a roof over their heads and a place to call home,” said cast member Rob Estes. “However, there are some families that for various circumstances need some help. Habitat for Humanity is a great organization that works with those families in need to help them get into a home, and teaches them skills to succeed economically. The Habitat build on March 14th [was] a great opportunity to get involved as a community, and teach young people the importance of caring for others and giving back.”
