Renee Zellweger Joins Tommy Hilfiger Charity Campaign

Renee Zellweger has been named as the face of Tommy Hilfiger’s new charity campaign.

The brand has announced a new bag that will raise money for Breast Health International – the fifth in a series of bags designed by Tommy for the charity.

“Because of the experiences of close friends and family members who have had to endure and battle the challenges of breast cancer, I am a passionate supporter of breast health education and charitable causes,’ said Renée. “I am honored and grateful to be partnering with Tommy Hilfiger to raise awareness and funds to support the invaluable work of Breast Health International.”

Dirty Dancing Voted Best Chick Flick In Oxfam Survey

British women have crowned Dirty Dancing – starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey – as their favourite chick flick for a girls’ night in, according to a survey for Oxfam, to mark the launch of Oxfam’s Have a Bit of a Do fundraising campaign.

The classic film was the top choice for 21% of those who have a favourite chick flick for a girl’s night in. Bridget Jones’s Diary – featuring Renee Zellweger and Hugh Grant – came a close second with 19% of the vote while Pretty Woman and Sex and the City were joint third with 11%. Love Actually (also featuring Hugh Grant) came fifth in the race to be named the UK’s favourite film for a girls’ night in with 9%.

The survey also revealed a North-South divide when it comes to chick flicks. Women in the North East, North West, and Yorkshire and the Humber were most likely to choose Bridget Jones’s Diary as their favourite girly film, with those living in London, the South East and the South West opting for Dirty Dancing.

Jack White Donates To Baseball Park

The White Stripes’ Jack White recently donated $170,000 to a baseball park in Detroit he used to play in.

White made the donation to aid the restoration of Clark Park in south west Detroit.

Deb Sumner – a volunteer at the park – said that the singer/guitarist had been to the park several times and kept regular contact with workers at the park. She revealed that he once turned up with his now ex-girlfriend, “Rene Wellzinger – Renee Zellweger – or however you say it.”

Actress Renee Zellweger was on hand at the annual USO of Metropolitan Washington’s award dinner on Wednesday, March 25, to honor Al Franken for 10 years of service entertaining troops overseas.

The 27th annual awards dinner was held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, with 34 of the 98 living Medal of Honor recipients in attendance.

“I love this event,” said Zellweger. “It is so special to have been invited here tonight to dine in honor of our military and in celebrating the work that the USO of Metropolitan Washington does. I’ve met a lot of true heroes through the USO. The hardest road the soldiers walk is the one he or she faces after the battle is over. It’s inspiring, but it’s extraordinarily moving. I have to say, it’s tremendously humbling.”

The entertainment industry’s biggest stars are set to shine this weekend at the annual Academy Awards, but the night before the big event they will be partying it up to support the Motion Picture and Television Fund Foundation.

The 7th annual The Night Before event will take place on Saturday, February 21, at the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel, and aims to help provide charitable health and community services to entertainment industry people in need.

The first Night Before event was held in 2003 and instantly became one of the most coveted invitations in town kicking off what is now a much-anticipated awards season tradition. Since its inception, the Night Before fundraiser has raised more than $30 million for MPTF.
