Olympic Stars Join JLS For Sport Relief Video

The music video for JLS’s official Sport Relief single, Proud, sees three British Olympic medal winners join the UK’s hottest pop group to celebrate the UK’s biggest year of sport.

Swimmer and double gold medal winner Rebecca Adlington, triple jumper and silver medal winner Phillips Idowu and gymnast and bronze medal winner Louis Smith star in the music video alongside JLS.

Directed by Ben Winston, who directed and co-wrote the infamous Smithy sketches for Comic Relief, the video sees JLS performing in an empty Wembley Stadium as the stories of three gifted children unfold. One young boy displays a remarkable talent for leaping; another impresses with his acrobatic break dancing abilities; and a young girl dances triumphantly in the rain as others run for cover.

Stars Make Wishes Come True In The UK

British actress Kara Tointon was one of a number of stars who helped raise £100,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the UK last weekend.

More than 300 guests attended the12th annual Make-A-Wish Summer Ball at the spectacular Blenheim Palace last Saturday, including actor Robert Powell, CBeebies’ Mr Tumble, Justin Fletcher MBE, singer Dionne Bromfield, ‘Secret Millionaire’ Caroline Marsh and Michelle Dewberry, winner of ‘The Apprentice’.

Guests were treated to a champagne reception in the Great Hall with its hand-painted murals and intricate tapestries before dinner was served in a special marquee in the palace grounds. Each year a celebrity supporter hosts the ball – warming up the crowd and recounting tales from just some of the wishes the charity grants annually to hundreds of deserving children. This year it was television presenter and Patron of Make-A-Wish, Keith “Cheggers” Chegwin.

British Soap Star Gets Quizzing For Christian Aid Week

British actress and Eastenders star Kara Tointon is helping put the fun into fundraising by backing this year’s nationwide Quizaid during Christian Aid Week (10 – 16 May 2009), which aims to raise vital funds for the world’s poorest communities.

Last year Quizaid raised a brain-busting £185,000 for Christian Aid’s overseas development work in 49 countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America. This year the charity is challenging the great British public to use its grey matter to raise £225,000.

Organizing Quizaid couldn’t be easier with the charity providing packs with all you need including question cards, posters, invites, answer sheets and a certificate for the winning team. All quiz organisers will be entered into a draw for a year’s supply of chocolate courtesy of the fair trade company, Divine Chocolate. There is a similar draw for those that participate in Quizaid.
