Stars To Hit The Tables For Ante Up For Africa

PokerStars is proud to be hosting the first Ante Up For Africa (AUFA) Europe charity poker tournament, being held as part of the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final tonight, April 27.

The event has attracted a star-studded field of celebrities and pro players, all helping to raise money and awareness for the crisis in Darfur, Sudan.

Confirmed celebrities include: Nelly, Boris Becker, Jason Lewis, Benji and Joel Madden, ‘Heroes’ star James Kyson Lee, boxer Vladimir Klitschko, Christina Milian, The Dream, Daniel Negreanu and Joe Hachem.

The tournament will take place April 27, the day before the start of the Grand Final. All prize money will be donated to Not On Our Watch and the ENOUGH Project – both of which provide valuable aid and assistance for victims of the Darfur crisis.

Stars Expected At Cathy's Kids Gala Tonight

Celebrities from sports, TV and film are expected to attend the 5th anniversary gala of the Cathy’s Kids Foundation later today, Friday April 17.

Cathy’s Kids was founded by Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom in March 2004 to make a positive impact on the lives of under-privileged children, as well as target a disease that has played a significant role in Lamar’s life, cancer. Lamar lost his mother to stomach cancer and is committed to help causes that are focused on finding a cure and helping people who suffer from the disease.

The gala starts at 6pm at the Roosevelt Hotel Grand Ballroom on Hollywood Blvd, and celebrities expected include the entire Laker team including Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher, as well as Dania Ramirez, Nicky Hilton, David Katzenberg, Milla Jovovich, David Arquette, Audrina Patridge, Paris Hilton, Sanaa Lathan, Shawne Merrima, Brandon Marshall, Omar Epps, Christina Milian, Al Shear, Sean Riggs, Jason Steed, Black Thomas, Claudia Jordan, Faith Evans and many others.

Christina Milian To Headline Charity Event

The Palomita Education Fund has announced that R&B and pop singer-actress Christina Milian will be participating in its upcoming charity event, Piensa Mas Alla…Think Beyond, on May 29, 2009 at Terra SF in San Francisco.

Milian has designed and autographed a unique, special edition t-shirt, which will be auctioned at the event, with all proceeds benefitting Latino education at a night that will celebrate fashion, art and Latino culture. The design will also be available for purchase, for a limited time only, through specialty retailers and on-line at palomitaclothing.com. Milian’s latest efforts to support youth education reflect her dedication to making a difference in improving the lives of others. Often recognized as a role model to teens, she has worked with the Children Uniting Nations charity as a big sister to foster children and was recognized with a humanitarian award at The Reign music awards from the Elton John AIDS Foundation for her work as a role model to young children. She has also started to write two books targeted toward teenage girls that exemplify healthy ways of finding happiness.

Born to Cuban parents, Christina Milian is an American R&B and pop singer-songwriter, dancer, and actress. Her first professional musical appearance performing vocals with rapper Ja Rule on the song “Between Me and You” peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. She also co-wrote and performed backing vocals for Jennifer Lopez’s album “J.Lo” in the “Play” track. She released her first album in 2004, which included the single “Dip It Low,” that became Milian’s biggest hit to date, reaching number two in the UK and number five in the U.S. and also earned her a Grammy Award nomination for “Best Rap/Song collaboration.” Her non-musical projects include starring roles in films such as Be Cool with John Travolta and Uma Thurman, and she also recorded two songs for its soundtrack.

The Palomita Education Fund was founded in 2007 by Molly Robbins, a successful entrepreneur and Mexico City native. It is a non-profit organization that encourages and supports education, professional and leadership development in the Latino community. The objectives of the organization are: to provide scholarships to Latinos planning to enroll in college, encourage participation of the Latino community in higher education, and professional growth and promote a productive and high-quality life.

Stand Up To Cancer recently teamed up with Island Def Jam records to launch an exciting new star-studded charity auction.

Celebrity guests at the record label’s VIP lounge at the Sundance Film Festival had the chance to sign a Vespa S50, and now the charity is selling the bike to the highest bidder.

Stars who have signed their name on the item include Alan Cumming, Andie MacDowell, Anne Heche, Christie Brinkley, Dominic Cooper, Hoobastank, Robin Thicke, Terrell Owens, Wesley Snipes, Christina Milian, Kevin Sorbo, Razorlight, Jon Mclaughlin and many more.

Stand Up To Cancer is a non-profit organization that aims to raise money for cancer researchers and scientists to come together and reach their common goal: the cure for cancer. Last September they held a huge star-studded telethon to raise money and awareness for their cause. The cold weather didn’t stop a host of stars from shining at the Flaunt Magazine 10th Anniversary Party and Annual Holiday Toy Drive in Los Angeles during the weekend.

Kanye West joined celebrities such as Kelly Osbourne, Eva Mendes, Jessica Szohr, Leven Rambin, Taryn Manning, Nikki Reed, Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Danny Masterson, Marley Shelton, Krysten Ritter, Shannen Doherty, Rhona Mitra, Bai Ling, Chingy, Maggie Grace, and Christina Milian for the evening to benefit the Wayne Kao Foundation.

The Foundation collects toys to distribute to needy children across LA, and the evening made Christmas a little bit happier for disadvantaged children this week.
