Celebrities Celebrate 10 Years Of NALIP

The stars didn’t wait to come out at night to support the National Latino Independent Producers Conference (NALIP) on April 17th in Newport Beach, CA. Informative seminars began early Friday morning and the conference ran through Sunday April 19th.

People from various walks of the entertainment industry participated at NALIP. Notable director Luis Valdez (La Bamba) opened on Friday with a keynote address during lunch. Hollywood A-listers Wilmer Valderrama and High School Musical Director Kenny Ortega attended the event. Ortega also received an award at Saturday night’s award show.

Valderama, Comedienne/Radio personality Kiki Melendez, and Writer/Director David Zucker (Airplane, Naked Gun/Secret Secret Service) all took part in various seminars. Real Women Have Curves screenwriter, Josefina Lopez, conducted a story development workshop. Franc Reyes (Empire) also shared his wisdom with attendees during a very socially conscience seminar which posed the question, “Black and Brown-Allies or Enemies?”

Not only does the celebrity of actors, radio personalities, directors, producers and other artists help enrich the lives of others at the NALIP Conference, but their messages – such as passing the baton of knowledge, inspired activism, and the promotion Latino cultural cohesiveness – last a lifetime.

Eva Longoria To Cook Guacamole For Charity

Actress Eva Longoria will become a chef and waitress for one lucky fan after an auction held at her restaurant Beso in Hollywood on Thursday, March 5.

In an event co-hosted by Danny Masterson, Leah Remini and Terry Seymour, guests such as Simon Cowell, Wilmer Valderrama, Bradley Cooper and Poppy Montgomery raised money for the New York Rescue Workers Detox Project, a program aids 9/11 rescue workers affected by the toxins at Ground Zero.

“You know what? This is an easy thing to do,” Cowell told People.com. “The guys we are raising the money for, they do the hard work.”

Longoria took to the stage to encourage people to take part in the charity auction that took place as part of the evening, and donated a catered dinner for 12 – in which she promises to wear an apron and make tableside guacamole – to the cause. She also donated two tickets to a Spurs/Lakers playoff game, and a Tony Parker jersey.

The package sold for $37,500.

The New York Rescue Workers Detox Project was founded in 2003 by Tom Cruise. It has two clinics, one on 139 Fulton Street, two blocks from the site of the World Trade Center, and another on Long Island. More info can be found here.

Yesterday, Look To The Stars brought you news about Kirk Douglas’ annual Thanksgiving Meal for the Homeless. We can now announce the lineup of stars expected to join the 91-year-old at the Los Angeles Mission.

Making a difference for Thanksgiving this year are Jennifer Love Hewitt (Ghost Whisperer), Cindy Crawford, Corbin Bleu (High School Musical III), Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty), Neil McDonough (Desperate Housewives), Rebecca Mader (Lost), James Black (Starter Wife), Wilmer Valderrama (Fast Food Nation), Christopher Knight (Brady Bunch), Adrianne Curry (America’s Next Top Model), Doug Rinehardt (The Hills), Deniece Williams (Singer-Songwriter), Katherine Kelly Lang (the Bold and the Beautiful), Daren Kagasoff (Secret Life of the American Teenager), Nora Zehetner (Heroes), Natasha Alam (the Women), Alaina Huffman (Smallville), Christa Campbell (Day of the Dead), Shirly Brener (Righteous Kill), Kate Linder (the Young and the Restless), Ross McCall (Band of Brothers), Brandon Barash (General Hospital), C. S. Lee (Dexter), Jorge-Luis Pallo (Secret Life of the American Teenager), and Casey Reinhardt (Laguna Beach). And, as in past years, there will be a few more surprises on the day.

The celebrities are expected to gather at the Los Angeles Mission – on the corner of E. Fifth Street and Wall Street – at 10:45am tomorrow, November 26, and start dishing out meals to the city’s homeless at 11am. The event will run until 3pm.

Stars Get Ready For A Dream Halloween

Get out your best Halloween costume for children affected by AIDS this weekend.

The Children Affected by AIDS Foundation will be holding its 15th annual Dream Halloween event in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 25. The party follows two similar fundraising events in Chicago and New York last week, and will feature a whole bunch of your favorite stars in weird, whacky, and hopefully scary costumes as they celebrate the season to be frightened.

Hosted by Jamie Lee Curtis, the event will honor Jada Pinkett Smith and Willow Smith, and is being chaired by Wilmer Valderrama, Jason Priestley, Melina Kanakaredes, and Doris Roberts.

“World-wide there are more than two million children living with HIV and an additional 15 million who have been orphaned due to AIDS,” said Joe Cristina, founder of CAAF. “Events like Dream Halloween Los Angeles allow us to raise critical funds to support these children in need. Our gracious sponsors, event attendees, performers and volunteers have helped us to raise more than $30 million since our inception in 1993.”

This year’s Dream Halloween Los Angeles takes place at the Barker Hangar in the Santa Monica Air Center from 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm. More information can be found at the CAAF website.

P. Diddy Encourages Safe Drinking With New Campaign

As part of their new “Play-A-Part” initiative, E! Entertainment has teamed up with Sean “Diddy” Combs and CÎROC Vodka to create a multi-platform public action campaign that promotes drinking responsibly and offers a solution for people to find a safe ride home. E!‘s Drive Safe campaign includes on-air spots that feature some of today’s hottest celebrities at a popular Hollywood nightclub, as well as easy online and wireless access to taxi services across the country.

Celebrities Take Pole Position For Charity

You will not have to be a car enthusiast, racing fan, petrol head, or even an average, ordinary sports fanatic to enjoy the celebrity specticle that will take place next weekend in downtown Long Beach. The peaceful silence of Southern California will be ripped asunder as engines are revved and a host of stars take to the track in the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race at the 34th annual Toyota Grand Prix.

A field of 18 is primed and ready to vie for the checkered flag in the world’s longest-running and most successful celebrity racing event. The 10-lap race will trace a 1.97-mile street circuit, and will raise money for Racing for Kids, a program that benefits children’s hospitals in Long Beach and Orange County. Toyota has generously pledged $5,000 to the charity in the name of each celebrity driver, and another $5,000 to the race winner’s charity of choice.

The celebrity race has been held every year since 1977, and has attracted stars such as Gene Hackman, Jason Bateman, Rick Schroder, Stephen Baldwin, Donny Osmond, Sean Patrick Flanery, and Josh Brolin. This year’s celebrity drivers include:

Wilmer Valderrama, best known for the role of Fez in That ’70s Show and host of MTV’s Yo Momma.
Drew Lachey, best known as the second-season winner of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars and member of the group 98 Degrees.
Raymond Cruz, best known for his roles in The Closer, Clear and Present Danger, The Substitute, The Rock, and Training Day.
Eric Dickerson, Pro Football Hall of Famer.
John Salley, Sportscaster.
Daniel Goddard from The Young And The Restless.
Jamie Little, ESPN/ABC pit reporter for NASCAR Nationwide.
Nancy Lieberman, ESPN women’s basketball analyst.
Brad Lewis, Executive Producer of Ratatouille, Broken Arrow, Forces of Nature, and Antz.

Race fans should also check out the Honda Performance Development auction over at www.clothesoffourback.org. There are a large selection of racing gloves, shoes, suits, and more donated by some of today’s hottest drivers, including Helio Castroneves, Ryan Briscoe, Darren Manning, and Ed Carpenter. Proceeds will benefit Clothes Off Our Back and American Honda supported charities.
