Kim Kardashian has blogged about a very special charity event taking place in March 2012.

“This year I was diagnosed with psoriasis, a hereditary, genetic, autoimmune disease that effects over 125 million people around the world and currently has no cure,” she wrote on her official blog. "On March 4 2012 it will be the sixth annual Walk To Cure Psoriasis and I hope you guys will join me in helping raise funds and awareness for the event. Over the last five years they have raised almost 1.5 million dollars to help research for a cure and there are now 22 walks across the country! They also started the first ever DNA BioBank, which is used by researchers across the country and the money from the walk goes directly to this.

Miranda Kerr Supports Youth Suicide Helpline In Australia

Miranda Kerr has thrown her weight behind a helpline aimed at fighting youth suicide in her native Australia.

“The sadness of losing someone, especially in these circumstances, is something we live with and we continually question how it could be prevented,” said the supermodel, who lost a cousin to suicide. “There’s not really a great awareness about the services available to kids and that’s why I’m behind this great cause.”

According to the organization behind the helpline, “Kids Helpline is a free, 24 hour counseling service for young people aged 5-25 years in Australia. Counseling is offered by phone, email and over the web. Counselors respond to more than 6,000 calls each week about issues ranging from relationship breakdowns and bullying, to sexual abuse, homelessness, suicidal thoughts, and drug and alcohol use.”

Australian model Miranda Kerr has announced that she is a global ambassador for Earth Hour 2011.

“Each of us has a responsibility for the sustainability of our planet and each of us can make a difference if we choose to do so,” says Miranda, the wife of Orlando Bloom “I am pleased to be a global Ambassador for Earth Hour this year and I personally will be participating in Earth Hour on 26 March 2011, and will continue to adopt sustainability practices thereafter in my everyday life. Earth Hour is a global annual event created by the WWF that asks households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. Miranda joins present and previous ambassadors for Earth Hour including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon, actress Cate Blanchett, Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen, Sir Tom Jones, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Edward Norton and many more.

Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr is fronting a new campaign to raise awareness of a common birth complication.

The Virgin Unite Fight For Fistula campaign – launched at a Halloween event on Richard Branson’s Necker Island – aims to raise awareness of fistula, a condition caused by a hole in the birth canal.

“Fistula is caused when a woman endures a complicated, prolonged delivery without sufficient access to proper medical care,” says Miranda. “For the 3.5 million women suffering from Fistula the injuries leave them incontinent and in most cases their baby dies.”

Celebrities Support Communication Shutdown For Autism

A number of celebrities are supporting the worldwide global campaign challenging the planet’s social media users to shut down their networks for one day for autism.

The Communication Shutdown campaign encourages Facebook and Twitter users to make a donation and receive a charity app or (CHAPP) that will signal their support and intention to boycott their accounts on 1 November.

Social communication is one of the biggest challenges for people with autism and by volunteering to shutdown the world will have some idea of what this is like. For a $5 donation, the CHAPP will connect with the user’s Facebook and Twitter accounts by placing a shutdown icon over their profile picture.

Stars Line Up For Charity Beauty Book

Paris Hilton, Anna Paquin and Miranda Kerr are some of the stars who will feature in a celebrity-studded book of photos being released soon.

The Beauty Book for Brain Cancer features photos taken by Australian photographer Darren Tieste, and proceeds from the book will go to charities including SNOG (the Sydney Neuro-Oncology Group), and ABTA (the American Brain Tumor Association).

“The Beauty Book is a hard cover coffee table book with images of your favorite Celebrities, Musicians and Top models,” said Tieste. "All the monies raised from sales will go to Brain Cancer via the Charity called SNOG. This charitable organization is non- profit and relies on donations and fund raising – I know this because I lost a dear friend Natalie Sattler to brain cancer last September 2008, she was 35 years old.

Orlando Bloom’s Australian model girlfriend Miranda Kerr appears on the cover of the latest edition of the Aussie edition of Rolling Stone magazine naked and tied to a tree to raise awareness of the plight of koalas.

The 26-year-old is the face of the Australian Koala Foundation’s No Tree, No Me campaign. Established in 1986 by two veterinary scientists, Barry Scott and Steve Brown, the Australian Koala Foundation aims to eradicate the threats to the survival of koalas, of which there are only 100,000 left in the wild.

“Having grown up with koalas in my backyard, it would be truly devastating for me to see them disappear,” said Kerr, who grew up in Gunnedah NSW, which is known as the koala capital of the world. “I feel strongly about the need to protect our natural environment because it supports our life – it really is that simple. It’s a sad thing – there are only about 100,000 koalas left in Australia. Something like 80 per cent of the koalas’ habitat has been destroyed since Europeans arrived in Australia. The great thing about having people recognize you is you can try to make a positive difference – that’s what I’m trying to do, especially for young women.”

Olivia Newton-John has sent a message of hope and love to the victims of the Australian bushfires. Speaking exclusively to Look To The Stars, the multi Grammy winning artist has urged people to donate to disaster relief funds

“My heart goes out to [the victims],” she said. “My heart hurts for my country and the animals and people of Australia and I just can’t imagine the horrors they’re going through. I send my love, I wish I was there to do more at this moment. I’ve been really touched by the generosity of the Australian people because they are an amazing resilient people that have always dug deep to help. I ask everybody to dig even deeper because this is just an unprecedented catastrophe. I send out my love and light to everybody affected.”

The singer’s words come the day after a massive benefit concert/telethon was held in Australia to raise money for the cause. Australia Unites featured a host of celebrities including Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Rachel Griffiths, Naomi Watts, Ellen DeGeneres, Anthony La Paglia, Shane Warne, Rove McManus, and Australian Olympic legend Cathy Freeman. Manning the phones for the evening were Orlando Bloom and girlfriend Miranda Kerr. Among the performers were The Living End, Jessica Mauboy, Jimmy Barnes, Lee Kernaghan, Shannon Noll, Kate Ceberano, and John Williamson.
