NFL's Jason David Hosts Camp For Kids

Former NFL/Superbowl Champion, Jason David, hosted his 3rd Annual Celebrity Charity Weekend June 23-June 25 to raise awareness for kidney disease and in memory of his beloved cousin Segun “Shay” Ukome Moruka, who tragically passed away from nephritis kidney disease in 2007.

  "My cousin Shay endured many surgeries before he passed away which crippled him sometimes to the point where he was unable to walk," stated Jason David, founder and president of JDCF. “My cousin never gave up he fought through all of his surgeries and struggles with the same resolve each time. It is important to me that I continue his fight for the sake of others who suffer from the disease.”

NFL Stars Bowl For Down Syndrome

Former All-American USC safety and current NFL free agent Darnell Bing recently hosted his 2nd Annual Bowling with the Stars event at Cal Bowl in Lakewood, Calif.

The event raised more than $3,500 and brought out over 100 of Bing’s family, friends, and local business owners. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles (DSALA).

Bowling with the Stars was held in honor of Bing’s cousin, who is affected by Down syndrome.

NFL's Jason David Speaks To Student Athletes

Former NFL player Jason David spoke to student-athletes of color at the Business of Sports Summit (BOSS) in Los Angeles on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Club Nokia at LA Live. The event was staged by Entertainment & Sports Plus in an effort to share with more than 200 local high school student athletes the many non-playing career opportunities in and around sports.

With a view towards encouraging/motivating students to do better academically and develop viable alternatives to a long shot professional playing career, David was honored to speak at the event.

“While playing in the NFL I faced a lot of challenges but with hard work, talent, and persistence I was able to thrive is the professional sports world,” stated Jason David. “I am honored to have been asked to mentor at this event and will hopefully provide guidance by encouraging youth to see the importance in education and by inspiring the youth to want work hard, be persistent, and get in the habit of setting goals.”

NFL Great Hosts Celebrity Charity Golf Classic

Jason David’s Corner Foundation (JDCF) held its Annual Celebrity Golf Classic on Friday June 25, 2010 at Lost Canyons Golf Club in Pasadena Simi Valley. The day brought together a kidney transplant recipient, Geronimo Hernandez, as well as a kidney donor, ABC7 news anchor Phillip Palmer.

Mr. Hernandez received a kidney transplant from his brother is 2004. Mr. Palmer donated a kidney to his long time friend in 2007. Both men were honorary golfers at the classic. The purpose of the event is to raise funds for kidney disease research and awareness. In only its second year, the golf classic has managed to raise its participant level and sponsorships.

NFL Star Announces Charity Golf Tournament

Jason David’s Corner Foundation (JDCF) has announced its annual celebrity weekend featuring the 2nd Annual Celebrity Golf Classic on Friday, June 25, and the 5th Annual Youth Football Skills Camp on Saturday, June 26.

The golf classic will be held at Lost Canyons Golf Club in Simi Valley and the football skills camp will be held at Charter Oak High School in Covina.

NFL Players Tee Off Against Kidney Disease

When Jason David lost his cousin to kidney disease in 2007, he wanted to do everything in his power to not only raise awareness about the life-threatening disease, he wanted to do something to help out someone in his community battling the disease.

“My cousin, Shay, endured many surgeries before he passed away,” David said. “Shay never gave up and fought through all of his surgeries while battling kidney disease. It is important to me that I continue his fight for the sake of others who battle kidney disease.”
