Celebrities To Gather At Farrah Fawcett Charity Event

Friends of Farrah, an intimate gathering to benefit the Farrah Fawcett Foundation, will take place at the Soho House West Hollywood on Tuesday, September 13th from 7 pm to 10 pm.

Alana Stewart and Jaclyn Smith are co-hosting the Give Back Hollywood Foundation event to honor the late Farrah Fawcett, with celebrities such as Ryan O’Neil, Raquel Welch, Sean Stewart, Ashley Hamilton and Chery Tiegs expected to attend. Additionally, Barbie designer Bill Greening will be on-hand to personally autograph the Black Label Collector Edition Farrah Fawcett Barbie Doll.

The Farrah Fawcett Foundation’s mission is to provide funding for alternative methods of cancer research, clinical trials, prevention, and awareness with an emphasis on anal and pediatric cancers.

Before Farrah Fawcett lost her battle with cancer, the former Charlie’s Angels star bequeathed $3.3 million to set up her cancer charity, the Farrah Fawcett Foundation.

The foundation is a cancer-research group which the actress founded during her own struggle with cancer, which took her life on June 25, 2009.

According to documents filed by the IRS, her Foundation also donated $85,000 to two charities last year, including The Angeles Clinic Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Friends and family of Farrah Fawcett will mark the first anniversary of the star’s death by opening the new headquarters of the Farrah Fawcett Foundation.

The new building in LA will house the charity’s work funding research into alternative cancer treatments.

“I’ll get very teary and miss her, but I feel her spirit is so strong, I feel like she went to a place where she’s free, she’s happy, and I feel she’s looking over all of us,” friend Alana Stewart told Entertainment Tonight. “We’re officially opening the offices on Friday, the one-year anniversary of her passing. I think it’s very fitting. I think it’s what she would have wanted.”

Private Practice Cast Hosts Dinner To Honor Cancer Survivors

Wolfgang Puck’s Spago Beverly Hills was the site for a special dinner to “Blow Out Cancer” and celebrate the lives of four courageous American Cancer Society survivors.

As the “Official Sponsor of Birthdays”, the American Cancer Society (ACS) teamed up with Golden Globe award winning creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes (“Grey’s Anatomy”) and the cast of Private Practice to join the movement to create a world with more birthdays. ACS is committed to helping people take steps to prevent cancer or detect it early and increase cancer research efforts and treatment options.

Many cast members were in attendance, including Tim Daly (Dr. Pete Wilder), who stated that ACS, “…is an incredible charity that has made tremendous efforts in research, care, and prevention for so many years.”

Farrah Fawcett To Leave Legacy For Charity

Actress Farrah Fawcett passed away last Thursday, June 25, after battling cancer since 2006. But she is leaving a legacy for charity.

According to Radar Online, the 62-year-old has left donations and a number of her belongings to shelters for abused women.

The actress played an abused woman in The Burning Bed, a 1984 TV movie. The role – which addressed the issues of spousal abuse and spousal rape – had a profound effect on Fawcett.
