The brilliant set of drawings by top artist John Trevillion captured the various moods and actions of Murray, who was so impressed he posted them on his Facebook page. “They’re really, really good,” said the Wimbledon contender and world’s number four.

Tennis Stars To Play Celebrity Charity Soccer For Japan

Some of the world’s greatest tennis players will swap their tennis balls for soccer balls in Miami tomorrow, March 23, when they take part in a celebrity charity football game to raise money for victims of Japan’s tsunami.

Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic are some of the stars who will be out in force against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers on March 23. Players will then attend a fundraising dinner later in the evening. Proceeds from the events will go to the American Red Cross.

Celebrity Red Noses Raise Record Amount For Charity

Comic Relief delivered another spectacular evening of top TV treats in the UK on Friday, as Red Nose Day 2011 entertained the nation while raising an incredible sum of money to help poor and vulnerable people in the UK and Africa. The TV event raised £74,360,207 (US$118 million) – the highest total reached on the night in Red Nose Day’s 23 year history.

“This is more than we ever believed we would raise,” said organizer Richard Curtis. “The generosity of the British public is staggering.”

The TV extravaganza featured appearances by Justin Bieber, Paul McCartney, David Tennant and Susan Boyle.

Tennis star Andy Murray has filmed a new advert to encourage people to stop malaria.

The ad – filmed for Malaria No More – features Murray performing a series of ball tricks as he waits for something crucial for any game of tennis – a net. The ad highlights the need for mosquito nets in countries where malaria is a problem.

“I hope people enjoy the ad and take away the serious message behind it,” said the tennis ace. "Malaria is a preventable disease yet it still claims the lives of 2,000 people a day in Africa.

Stars Support Twestival Charity Auction For Concern Worldwide

On Thursday, 25 March, people in hundreds of cities around the world will come together to rally around the important cause of Education by hosting local events to have fun and create awareness as part of the annual Twestival (or Twitter Festival). Sport Relief Brings In The Charity Cash

Britain has just hosted a weekend of sport and entertainment to benefit Sport Relief’s work helping vulnerable people – and a whole bunch of celebrities were involved.

The weekend kicked off with the Sport Relief TV Extravaganza on BBC One and Two on Friday night, hosted by Richard Hammond, Davina McCall and others. The show raised an unbelievable £31.6 million for charity, and featured appearances by Annie Lennox, Robbie Williams, Emma Bunton, Cheryl Cole, Andy Murray, Kylie Minogue and many others. David Beckham even got warm and cosy in the bath with comedian James Corden in a special comedy sketch filmed especially for the event.

Michael Parkinson also took part in an episode of Ashes to Ashes, and there were special charity episodes of TV shows such as Masterchef.

Sport Relief is back… and British TV viewers will be able to enjoy a weekend of entertainment for charity starting on Friday, March 19.

BBC One and Two will host a special broadcast that brings together the worlds of sport and entertainment to raise money to help vulnerable people in the UK and the world’s poorest countries.

The show will include a special performance by Annie Lennox, as well as comedy sketches featuring David Beckham, Jenson Button, Andy Murray and more. Comedian James Corden is about to get up close and personal with David Beckham.

Corden – in character as Gavin And Stacey’s Smithy – will give the soccer icon a massage for charity. And Beckham will return the favor afterwards – in a sketch to be broadcast in March on BBC One’s Sport Relief.

“The sketch is hilarious, they couldn’t be more different – the pair of them massaging each other will be a sight to behold,” a source told The Sun.

Andy Murray Sells Used Shirts For Malaria No More

Tennis player Andy Murray is selling old match shirts to raise pounds for the charity Malaria No More.

Ranked number four in the world, and recently named British player of the year, Murray plans to sell 100 of his Fred Perry shirts for £15 each. For every shirt sold, Malaria No More will buy three mosquito nets to prevent African children from getting the disease.

The sale starts December 21 on www.andymurray.com. The shirts, each worn by Murray at some point, will be sold on a first come first served basis.

Two tennis-mad teenagers have had their wish granted to attend The Championships at Wimbledon – and they met Andy Murray too!

The UK Make-A-Wish Foundation hosted two children from overseas when tennis fans 17 year old Christine McLinn, from Wisconsin, USA and Thys Kroezen, aged 15 and from the Netherlands, had their life-time wish granted to come to England and see a tennis match at the world famous Wimbledon tournament.

Christine is fighting Hodgkin’s disease and has played tennis since she was six years old. She has an expert knowledge on anything to do with tennis and her favourite female player is Serena Williams. She has had to endure chemotherapy, but she surprised medical experts by managing to win a local tennis championship within a few weeks of receiving the treatment.

David Beckham Kicks Malaria Out

Malaria No More UK, the British extension of a US charity that aims to prevent millions of deaths worldwide, has attracted the support of David Beckham, Andy Murray and Denise Lewis, who have been named as members of the leadership council of the new campaign.

The trio met with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown this week to ensure the Government makes good on their promise to deliver 20 million life-saving malaria nets to Africa by next year. Since Brown’s pledge a year ago, the UK has delivered about 9.7 million nets to Africa, and a further 1.9 million are on order.

“It’s truly incredible to think we can stop this killer disease forever and it’s such a simple thing to do. For less than the cost of a football you can protect a family from dying,” said Beckham, “I urge the UK public to get behind the Malaria No More UK campaign to save a life and make malaria no more.”

College Students Stage Celebrity Shoe Auction

A host of celebrities are baring their soles in a charity auction organized by college students in Scotland this week.

Robin Williams, Daniel Radcliffe, Zoë Wanamaker, Ewan McGregor, and Elton John are among the stars to donate their footwear to One Step Beyond, a charity made up of staff and students of Angus College at Arbroath.

The 19 pairs of shoes will be on auction until October 19, and proceeds will go to organizations such as Cancer Research UK, Cash for Kids, No More Landmines, and the Angus College Charitable Trust.
