The stars are tweeting for charity – and they need your help.

Celebrities such as Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, Peter Facinelli, Kelly Osbourne and Eric Stonestreet are taking part in the Twitter For The Critters Celebrity Challenge to benefit the Onyx and Breezy Foundation, an animal charity formed in 2004 by Mark and Wanda Shefts to honor the memory of their two labrador retrievers.

Sirius XM Radio has announced that multi-platinum artist Billy Ray Cyrus joined forces with SiriusXM Patriot host Mike Slater at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in San Diego to salute the brave men and women serving our nation for SiriusXM’s “I’m American” Veterans Day special premiering on Veterans Day, November 11, at 2:00 pm ET on SiriusXM Patriot channel 125.

The one-hour special features Cyrus performing acoustic versions of “Some Gave All,” “I’m American,” “Achy Breaky Heart” and “Nineteen” and conversations on-site with the servicemen and women of Camp Pendleton.

Miley Cyrus Visits Kentucky For Charity

Miley Cyrus was in Kentucky last week to visit Blessings in a Backpack volunteers.

The star visited Hazard County to visit the organization, which feeds elementary school children whose families qualify for the federal free and reduced meal program, and may not have any or enough food on the weekends. Better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior, improved health and increased attendance have all been attributed to the success of this program.

“Hunger doesn’t take weekends off,” said Miley, who was accompanied by her father, Billy Ray Cyrus. "Hazard, in fact all of Appalachia, has always been special to me and to my whole family. It’s where we’re from. So the health and education of these Hazard County kids was important to me, and something I felt I really could help do something about… through the Blessings In A Backpack organization.

Earlier this year, Look To The Stars brought you news about Billy Ray Cyrus’ sandwich swap initiative for Feeding America.

For every sandwich created on Hellmann’s page on Facebook (Facebook.com/hellmanns), Hellmann’s and Best Foods donated 7 lunches to Feeding America. Creating a sandwich automatically entered participants for a chance to win a $250 grocery store gift certificate. And for every friend on Facebook that you shared your sandwich with, Hellmann’s donated an additional 7 lunches to the charity. There was also a special eBay auction where the highest bidder won the opportunity to swap a real life sandwich with Cyrus backstage just before his concert in Niceville, Florida.

We can now bring you a photo of the winning bidders, Zachary Plastina, 10, and his mother Carolyn McKelvy, and announce that over 700,000 lunches were donated through the program.

Tom Brokaw To Host Charity Event Tonight

Legendary journalist and current interim moderator of NBC’s Meet the Press Tom Brokaw will host the seventh annual Joan’s Legacy Uniting Against Lung Cancer Benefit Gala later tonight, November 18.

The Strolling Supper with Blues and News will kick off at 6:30 at the Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York, and will feature a performance by Grammy-winning blues great Delbert McClinton and the “greatest silent auction in the City”.

More than 500 business leaders and philanthropists from every industry will attend the evening, which will raise money to help Joan’s Legacy’s fight against lung cancer. The charity was named after Joan Scarangello McNeive, a gifted writer, life-long New Yorker and nonsmoker, who died at age 47 in 2001 after a valiant nine-month fight with lung cancer. Their aim is to find a cure for lung cancer by funding innovative research and increasing awareness of the world’s leading cancer killer, with a special focus on non-smoking-related lung cancer.

The Houston Children’s Charity 12th Annual Gala may not take place until October 25, but this week witnesses the online auction of the Charity’s star item: a package for the ultimate fan of teen superstar Miley Cyrus and her television alter-ego, “Hannah Montana.”

In the last four years, Miranda Lambert has gone from a reality show star to a Grammy-nominated country superstar, but she hasn’t let the success go to her head – in fact, its gone straight to the animals!

On April 20, Lambert hosted her first ever charity event, the ‘Cause for the Paws’ Wine Tasting Festival to benefit the struggling East Texas Humane Society. For years, Lambert has been a huge supporter of the shelter, often encouraging her fans to make donations rather than give gifts to her.

According to Humane Society officials, the organization will actually lose revenue in 2008. Helping to offset the loss, Lambert – joined by country stars Blake Shelton and Kacey Musgraves – appealed to the public to help raise funds during the event, which included silent/live auctions, food and wine tasting, a Meet and Mingle VIP cocktail party, and a concert featuring all three entertainers.
