Paul McCartney Honored As MusiCares Person Of The Year

Beatles legend Paul McCartney was honored as the 2012 MusiCares Person of the Year at a special event in Los Angeles on Friday, celebrating his exceptional artistic achievements as well as his philanthropic work.

The sold-out tribute to McCartney benefits MusiCares’ emergency financial assistance and addiction recovery programs. Proceeds from the annual Person of the Year tribute — now in its 22nd year — provide essential support for MusiCares, which ensures that members of the music community have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need.

Hosted by Eddie Izzard, performers included Cirque du Soleil, Tony Bennett, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Alison Krauss and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas, Duane Eddy, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, James Taylor, Diana Krall, Neil Young with Crazy Horse, Sergio Mendes and Katy Perry. The evening also featured a special performance by 14-time GRAMMY winning artist and 2012 MusiCares Person of the Year Paul McCartney.

An impressive star-studded cast will come together to honor 2012 MusiCares Person of the Year honoree Paul McCartney during a sold-out gala on Feb. 10 in Los Angeles, two days prior to the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards.

Hosted by actor/comedian Eddie Izzard, artists set to perform are current GRAMMY nominees Tony Bennett, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas, and Katy Perry; GRAMMY-winning artists Duane Eddy, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, Diana Krall, James Taylor, and Neil Young with Crazy Horse; two-time Latin GRAMMY-winning artist Sergio Mendes; and the cast of Cirque du Soleil’s “Love” Beatles tribute show. The evening will also feature a special performance by McCartney.

The 2012 MusiCares Person of the Year gala, which will celebrate McCartney’s exceptional artistic achievements and philanthropic work, will begin with a cocktail reception and silent auction sponsored by the Starkey Hearing Foundation that will offer an exclusive selection of luxury items, VIP experiences and celebrity memorabilia for bidding guests. The auction will be followed by a gala dinner sponsored by AEG Live, and a star-studded tribute concert sponsored by Acura/ELS. Wynonna And Naomi Judd Join Santa Train For Charity

Country music legends Wynonna and Naomi Judd will revisit their Appalachian home together when they join CSX, Food City, the Kingsport Area Chamber of Commerce and Kids Wish Network as special guests on the 2010 Santa Train on November 20.

The Appalachia natives will be kicking off their highly anticipated self-proclaimed final tour, The Judds: The Last Encore, the day after Thanksgiving. The Judds’ farewell concert series will feature brand-new music, including their first single in 10 years, “I Will Stand By You,” while also mixing in 25 years of duets and Wynonna solo hits for their fans. The GRAMMY award-winning duo has not toured together since their 2000 Power to Change tour.

Naomi rode the Santa Train in 2005 and passed the tradition on to her daughter, Wynonna, who was the 2009 guest.

Keith Urban And Friends To Perform Benefit Concert

Keith Urban and an all-star lineup of friends returning to Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday, October 5 for We’re All For The Hall, a concert to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Reserved seating tickets, which are priced at a family friendly $25 and $35 (does not include Ticketmaster surcharge), will go on sale Friday, September 17, at 10:00 AM. A limited number of VIP ticket packages will also go on sale on September 17 at www.countrymusichalloffame.org.

Vince Gill To Host Charity Concert

Vince Gill will join his wife Amy Grant in hosting a concert to launch a new national initiative to support and connect existing programs for disabled veterans.

Challenge America’s mission is to support the development of recreational and occupational programs in willing communities to link new and existing services to better serve returning injured military and their families.

“It’s going to be a very relaxed, comfortable evening,” Gill told People.com. “We’re going to sit in a semi-circle and go around the circle taking turns doing songs. It’ll feel like sitting in a living room. You don’t have any idea where the evening is going to go.”
