Lloyd-Webber Picasso to be Auctioned for Charity

A Picasso masterpiece from the collection of composer Andrew Lloyd-Webber will be auctioned off to raise money for charity later this year.

The painting was made in 1903, and features Angel Fernandez de Soto, a close friend of the artist, sitting at a bar amidst curling wisps of smoke. New York auctioneers Christie’s expect the painting to raise as much as $61 million at the November auction.

Lord Lloyd-Webber said: “If the picture sells successfully, it will be fantastic to have a charitable fighting fund with the freedom to support other excellent causes, particularly in the theatre and music worlds.”
