Ne-Yo, Skylar Grey, Sara Bareilles, Swizz Beatz, Desmond Child, Mark Mothersbaugh (co-founder and lead singer of Devo), and other music and entertainment industry giants committed to fighting cancer and other life-threatening diseases will tonight take part in Songs of Hope VII, a special event and silent auction presented by Esquire that supports lifesaving research at City of Hope.

Held at the exclusive Esquire Apartment in the penthouse of The Clocktower in DUMBO, Brooklyn, N.Y., the Dec. 1 event will be emceed by Ne-Yo and feature intimate performances by Skylar Grey and Sara Bareilles. Eurythmics legend Dave Stewart has launched a new video contest with Stand Up To Cancer.

The star is inviting YOU to record a new version of the song and video he created especially for the charity, Up2You. The winning entry will be included in this year’s massive television event in September.

“As most back stories to songs do, this one begins with a woman,” wrote Stewart in the Huffington Post. "In this case, it’s the powerful force of nature known as Laura Ziskin – not just a cancer survivor, but a cancer fighter. Dave Stewart Donates Suit To Charity Auction

Musician Dave Stewart has donated the suit he wore when he accepted the Awards for Outstanding Contribution to British Music for Eurythmics (Silver Clefs Award by the Nordoff Robbins Foundation) in 2000 to the world’s leading Eurythmics fan site for a charity competition.

Ethrill.net has been collecting rare items like lithographs and deluxe books, limited vinyl and much more from fans of the band to give away as part of the anniversary of Annie Lennox’s SING Campaign to help prevent the spread of HIV in South Africa, where 1,000 people die from AIDS-related causes every day. Ewan McGregor will host a special event for charity in Los Angeles this Friday, November 20.

The 2009 Go Go Gala will benefit the Go Campaign’s efforts to help orphans and vulnerable children in countries such as China, Kenya, Liberia, Peru and Tanzania. A galaxy of stars turned out to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s 91st birthday in New York during the weekend, with proceeds going to one of the South African legend’s charities.

Bruce Springsteen, Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder and many more appeared at the Radio City Music Hall on Saturday, July 19, with money raised going to 46664, Mandela’s campaign to help raise Global awareness of AIDS/HIV. 46664 aims to highlight the emergency of AIDS/HIV through unique live events and music related initiatives.

Mandela himself was unable to attend the event, but did send a video message in which he said “It is on your hands to create a better world for all who live in it.” President Barack Obama also appeared via video, saying that Mandela’s life “teaches us that the impossible can be done, but only if people have the courage to make change happen.”

Hear the World is an initiative by Phonak – a leading manufacturer of hearing aids – that aims to raise awareness of the topic of hearing and hearing loss and to promote good hearing all over the world, and musician Dave Dobbyn spent the weekend in Fiji doing exactly that.
